Barney Fwank twies to we-wite histowy

Chutzpah, thy name is Barney Frank.

Recall that this Massachusetts Democrat is the ethical paragon who once used his office to fix 33 parking tickets for his gay-prostitute lover before discovering that a prostitution ring was being run from his apartment.

Video #1 – Barney Fwank tells one story in 2005

This is also the same congressman who saw no conflict of interest when his (now former) romantic partner, Herb Moses, served as an executive at Fannie Mae while Frank served on the House Banking Committee and blocked tougher regulations on the banking companies.

Video #2 – Barney Fwank tells a different story in 2009

So we probably shouldn’t be too surprised that Barney Frank has no shame when it comes his role in the Fannie Mae implosion.

But now Frank’s doing a complete about-face and trying to pin the blame on conservatives.

Looks like he’s involved in another prostitution ring. Except this time he’s prostituting the truth.

Headline of the Day
“Scientists see this flu strain as relatively mild”

“Genetic data indicate this outbreak won’t be as deadly as that of 1918, or even the average winter.”

20,000,000 may have died worldwide from the Spanish Flu between 1918 and 1920. 35,000 died of regular flu in the United States last year. So far 7 have died of swine flu worldwide.

This doesn’t exactly square with the media bias that says this is the worst catastrophe since the election of George W. Bush.

Cowardly Joe Biden wants you to hide in your house to avoid swine flu

Joe Biden stuck his piggies in his mouth this morning while discussing the swine flu on the Today Show.

“I wouldn’t go anywhere in confined places now. I would tell members of my family, and I have, I wouldn’t go anywhere in confined places now. It’s not that it’s going to Mexico, it’s you’re in a confined aircraft when one person sneezes it goes all the way through the aircraft. That’s me. I would not be, at this point, if they had another way of transportation suggesting they ride the subway. If you’re out in the middle of a field and someone sneezes that’s one thing. If you’re in a closed aircraft or a closed container or closed car or closed classroom it’s a different thing.”

Of course, a couple hours later the Cheap Veep’s people issued a statement saying Biden didn’t mean what he said. That’s not surprising, since no one in this administration really means anything they say.

We strongly recommend that you follow Joe’s advice. Don’t do anything. Just sit at home in your underwear and surf the net all day. Just don’t go starting any smartass blogs. We don’t want the competition.

“Limericks for the Next 1,361 Days” Contest

The winners have been announced in the article Top 10 Obama Administration limericks.

1,361 days to go. In the immortal words of Edgar Allen Poe, "Nevermore."
1,361 days to go. In the immortal words of Edgar Allen Poe, "Nevermore."

We read the Huffington Post every day just looking for classic stuff like this: a website called, “Starting Today: Poems for the First 100 Days.”

The website says, “The day before the inauguration we sent out a call to poets we admire to write poems that respond, however loosely, to the presidency, the nation, the government or the current political climate. More than one hundred American poets responded immediately. The first 100 poets were each assigned one of President Obama’s first hundred days in office, and each will write a poem reflecting on the state of the nation and the world on that day. A new poem is posted every day.” Continue reading ““Limericks for the Next 1,361 Days” Contest”

Intimidation, domination, annihilation: Fox News beats CNN and MSNBC combined

"Sssssh. Please don't tell advertisers about this debacle."
"Sssssh. Please don't tell advertisers about this debacle."

Fox News gave CNN and MSNBC a good, old fashioned whuppin’ in April.

They beat CNN and MSNBC combined every hour of the day from 6 a.m. to midnight in Total Viewers and the all-important Adults 25-54 demographic.

Fox dominated across the board. They laid claim to the top eleven cable news programs in Total Viewers. They also took home 12 of the top 15 shows in the 25-54 demographic.

MediaBistro.com gives more details:

From 9amET on, every program grew by more than 60% in the demo. The 5pmET hour, now occupied by Glenn Beck, is up 212% in the demo and up 128% in Total Viewers. Your World with Neil Cavuto is up 102% in the demo and up 60% in Total Viewers. On the Record with Greta Van Susteren is up 75% in demo and up 55% in Total Viewers. Also in demo: FOX Report is up 75%, Special Report 70%, The O’Reilly Factor 74% and Hannity 64%.

Fox & Friends has now been #1 for 90 consecutive months, Studio B with Shepard Smith for 80 consecutive months.

Fox News is now has the second highest number of Total Viewers on all of cable television. And they’re set their sites on toppling the long-time number one-rated USA Network.

Keith Olbermann immediately curled up into a depression-induced fetal position and has yet to come out of it. MSNBC may need to air reruns of Olbermann’s Countdown program until he recovers.

London Daily Telegraph asks, “Why does President Pantywaist hate America so badly?”

The view from London seems to be considerably different than the view from Washington, DC
President Pantywaist? As we’ve chronicled here over the last few months, the British newspapers have not converted to the Church of the Almighty Obama.

Here are the opening paragraphs from the Daily Telegraph’s latest scathing commentary:

If al-Qaeda, the Taliban and the rest of the Looney Tunes brigade want to kick America to death, they had better move in quickly and grab a piece of the action before Barack Obama finishes the job himself. Never in the history of the United States has a president worked so actively against the interests of his own people – not even Jimmy Carter.

Obama’s problem is that he does not know who the enemy is. To him, the enemy does not squat in caves in Waziristan, clutching automatic weapons and reciting the more militant verses from the Koran: instead, it sits around at tea parties in Kentucky quoting from the US Constitution. Obama is not at war with terrorists, but with his Republican fellow citizens. He has never abandoned the campaign trail.

How can they see so clearly when they’re so far away?

Bias by the numbers: Measuring the media’s 100-day love affair with Obama.

Yes, we get it. The main stream media loves Barack Obama.
Yes, we get it. The main stream media loves Barack Obama.
A study conducted by the nonpartisan Center for Media and Public Affairs and California’s Chapman University has actually measured the amount of drool in the slobbering love affair
the MSM has been carrying on with Obama for the last 100 days.

MediaBistro reports, “Not only has Obama gotten more coverage, but that coverage has been more positive than his predecessors.”

“On the ABC, CBS, and NBC evening newscasts, 58% of all evaluations of the president and his policies have been favorable, while 42% were unfavorable. That compares with 33% positive in the comparable period of Bush’s tenure and 44% positive for Pres. Clinton.”

Maybe you’re wondering how the MSM (sans Fox) can be in such agreement with The One’s agenda. Turns out there’s a reason beyond the Administration’s daily phone calls with George Stephanopolous.

Washington Post media writer Howard Kurtz reveals that key MSM journalists are meeting furtively for swanky dinners at The Watergate where Administration bigwigs spoon-feed talking points to their left-wing media enablers. (Off the record, naturally.) Kurtz comments, “the catered gatherings…sound rather cozy, like some secret-handshake gathering of an entrenched elite. Are the top-level officials, strategists and foreign leaders there for serious questioning or risk-free spin sessions? And what exactly is the journalistic benefit if the visitors are protected by a shield of anonymity?”

Fortunately these reporters are no longer anonymous. Want to know the names of the media lapdogs eating out of the Administration’s hand? According to Kurtz, “Among those in regular attendance are David Brooks and Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, Gene Robinson and Ruth Marcus of The Washington Post, NBC’s David Gregory, ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, PBS’s Gwen Ifill, the New Yorker’s Jane Mayer, Vanity Fair’s Todd Purdum, former Time managing editor Walter Isaacson and staffers from Bradley’s Atlantic and National Journal, including Ron Brownstein, Andrew Sullivan and Jonathan Rauch.”

As Kurtz next points out, unsurprisingly, “The networks have given President Obama more coverage than George W. Bush and Bill Clinton combined in their first months — and more positive assessments to boot.”

“On Fox News, by contrast, only 13 percent of the assessments of Obama were positive on the first half of Bret Baier’s “Special Report,” which most resembles a newscast. The president got far better treatment in the New York Times, where 73 percent of the assessments in front-page pieces were positive.”

This explains a lot. While the competition is busy slobbering, Fox is clobbering.

If this isn’t socialism, could someone please tell us what it is?

amsoc_flag

Here’s how General Motors described its transformation into Government Motors in a press release on Monday:

“As a result of its ownership of GM common stock, the U.S. Treasury will be able to elect all of our directors and to control the vote on substantially all matters brought for a stockholder vote. In addition, through its stockholder voting rights and election of directors, and its role as a significant lender to us, the U.S. Treasury will be able to exercise significant influence and control over our business if it elects to do so.”

Just to make sure everyone’s in agreement on the terminology, here’s how Merriam-Webster.com defines socialism:

“Any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.”

We can’t help but remember all those commentators who were shocked when Tea Party participants called Obama a socialist.

Right wing lunatics at Fox dump Obama. Just like they dumped Bush in 2001.

The President is sad to find out that Fox will air "Lie To Me" instead of his press conference. Very sad.
The President is sad to find out that Fox will air "Lie To Me" instead of his press conference. Very sad.

By now you’ve probably heard that those fascists at Fox refuse to carry The One’s Wednesday night primetime press conference and Celebration of Self.

Of course, the left would like you to believe this sort of thing would never happen if a white Republican were president.

Unfortunately for those obscurers of truth, it actually did happen the last time a white Republican was president. President George W. Bush, to be exact.

In 2001, Fox chose not to air a primetime speech by President Bush. Then, three years later, it joined all the networks in decllning to air his May 2004 speech on Iraq.

Quick. Call Al Gore. It’s another one of those inconvenient truths he likes to talk about. No, wait. This may not be one of the ones he likes to talk about.

100 days of puffery, ballyhoo, hoopla and hype

Iowa flooding looked as bad as many sections of New Orleans. So where was the media? Where was Sean Penn?
Iowa flooding looked as bad as many sections of New Orleans. So where was the media? Where was Sean Penn?
Kudos to Politico’s Richard Benedetto for writing about the way the mainstream media has been covering the Obama presidency in his column “Watchdogs are heeling for Obama”. We would’ve gone a little further and titled the piece “Media lapdogs are lying down for Obama.”

Benedetto’s journalism students gave the media a C+/B- for their covering during the first 100 days. After chronicling a few instances of media double standards in the way similar-to-identical statements made by GWB and BHO were portrayed, the columnist felt a C+ was about right.

His list seemed a bit short. How about the way similar events were covered? One of the major stories that’s been virtually ignored was the Iowa/North Dakota flooding. Remember the overwrought and outright false Katrina coverage? (“10,000 dead”?!)

As a widely circulated conservative-leaning email asked, Where was the hysterical 24/7 media coverage, with reports of lootings, shootings at rescuers, of rapes and murder? Where were the stories of people screaming that Barack Obama hates white, rural people? Where were the government bailout vouchers and government debit cards? Are the values of Iowa and Louisiana residents that different or is the media just that skewed?

What grade would you give the media for their coverage of Obama’s first 100 days? We’d give ’em a D for duplicitous double-standards.

Obamagasm: TV news covers Obama more than Bush & Clinton combined.

Reverends Couric, Williams and Gibson conduct services nightly.
Reverends Couric, Williams and Gibson conduct services nightly.
This will come as no surprise to anyone this side of a catatonic trance, but TV network news has given us all Obama all the time.

The nonpartisan research group Center for Media and Public Affairs along with California’s Chapman University released a study that found the nightly newscasts devoted 27 hours, 44 minutes to Pres. Obama’s presidency in his first 50 days. That compares to 7 hours, 42 minutes for Pres. George W. Bush and 15 hours, 2 minutes for Pres. Bill Clinton during the first 50 days of their first terms.

Not only has Obama gotten more coverage, but that coverage has been more positive than his predecessors.

On the ABC, CBS, and NBC evening newscasts, 58% of all evaluations of the president and his policies have been favorable, while 42% were unfavorable. That compares with 33% positive in the comparable period of Bush’s tenure and 44% positive for Pres. Clinton.

The study continues:

CBS led the coverage with 365 stories and 10 hours 46 minutes of airtime, followed by NBC with 327 stories and 9 hours 38 minutes, and ABC with 329 stories and 7 hours 20 minutes.

The first half hour of Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier,” which the study says most closely resembles the network evening newscasts, devoted 10 hours 24 minutes to the Obama administration, nearly as much airtime as CBS gave him.

But Fox News stands apart from its competitors here – only 13% of comments* were considered favorable. On ABC, 57% of the comments were favorable, compared to 58% for CBS and 61% for NBC.

What these numbers don’t tell us is what percentage of the comments were neutral and what percentage were negative. We’re willing to bet the ratio of positive to negative is stunning.

Democrat congressman admits Cap & Trade is just a great big ol’ tax in disguise

Despite the fact that Cap & Trade would more appropriately be called Smoke & Mirrors, the Obama administration is moving the legislation forward.

Democrat Congressman John Dingell doesn’t like it. He doesn’t like it at all.

“Nobody in this country realizes that cap and trade is a tax,” he said to Al Gore in a congressional hearing. “And a great big one.”

Unfortunately, the camera wasn’t on Al Gore at that moment, so we can only imagine that he immediately put his forefinger to his lips and made one of those “Ssssh” sounds librarians make.

Conservative teaches liberal how the real world works

This is a very funny video. Liberals should consider it a life lesson. So should conservatives. It demonstrates perfectly that libs don’t understand how the real world works. They simply can’t comprehend that some people would rather pay more for a better product. Or more for a product that’s merely perceived as better.

Guy #1 in this video wants to give his product away for free. He doesn’t know how to cope when Guy #2 sets up business next door offering a better product at a higher price.

Next thing you know the Obama administration will get involved. They’ll say Guy #2 is guilty of unfair competition. They’ll force him to unionize. They’ll say that since he’s a highly-compensated capitalist, he should pay for health care for Guy #1. They’ll say that since Guy #2 is making money and Guy #1 isn’t, Guy #2 should pay higher taxes to subsidize Guy #1.

We wish it were a joke.

Say good night to your morning newspaper, circulation in freefall

Read all about it while there's still a newspaper left to read.
Read all about it while there's still a newspaper left to read.

The Audit Bureau of Circulation, the bible of the newspaper business, just released the latest circulation figures for the country’s newspapers.

In a word, ouch.

Circulations are plunging faster than Janet Napolitano’s credibility. In fact, the only major paper to gain circulation in the last twelve months was Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal. Other’s dropped in jaw dropping percentages.

It’s getting so bad that single digit drops look good. The New York Post dropped more than 20%. The San Francisco Chronicle almost 16%. The Newark Star-Ledger almost 17%. And the Atlanta Journal Constitution almost 20%.

Here are the daily averages for Monday-Friday circulation for the nation’s top 25 papers.

“Ratchet-jawed purveyors of monkey-doodle
and baked wind”

orourke This comes from a speech P.J. O’Rourke recently delivered in Sydney. Damn, this guy knows how to string words together.

America has wound up with a charming leftist as a president. And this scares me. This scares me not because I hate leftists. I don’t. I have many charming leftist friends. They’re lovely people – as long as they keep their nose out of things they don’t understand. Such as making a living.

When charming leftists stick their nose into things they don’t understand they become ratchet-jawed purveyors of monkey-doodle and baked wind. They are piddlers upon merit, beggars at the door of accomplishment, thieves of livelihood, envy coddling tax lice applauding themselves for giving away other people’s money. They are the lap dogs of the poly sci-class, returning to the vomit of collectivism. They are pig herders tending that sow-who-eats-her-young, the welfare state. They are muck-dwelling bottom-feeders growing fat on the worries and disappointments of the electorate. They are the ditch carp of democracy.

Introducing the John Murtha Pork Barrel International Airport, where pigs really do fly

Ever wonder how your tax dollars are being invested spent wasted? Here’s an absolutely terrifying example – the John Murtha Pork Barrel International Airport. Located, of course, right in the heart of Democrat Congressman John Murtha’s home district.

It is a monument to the complete corruption of the system in general and John Murtha specifically.

$150,000,000 of your tax dollars have gone to build this gilded memorial to Mr. Murtha in the last ten years. To repeat, $150,000,000.

For that you get three flights a day, all of them to Washington, DC, which makes it extremely convenient for Rep. Murtha.

In 2008, an average of only 20 people per day flew out of the airport. The government subsidizes every ticket to the tune of $100. That means that you – the taxpayer – often pay more per ticket than each of those travelers did.

The airport’s motto should be, “The John Murtha Pork Barrel International Airport, where your money flies out the window.”

Government bailout subsidizing Olbermann salary,
sign the petition

Left wing lunatic Ben Afleck does a perfect impression of
left wing lunatic Keith Olbermann on Saturday Night Live.

Is Keith Olbermann a hypocrite? Of course. A congenital liar? Certainly. A lunatic. Without a doubt.

That’s why we’re happy to lend our support to this internet petition objecting to his latest outrage. Click on the link at the bottom of the story to sign the petition.

Dear Mr. Olbermann,

While General Electric, the parent-company of your MSNBC network, was negotiating a $126 billion taxpayer-funded bailout, you signed a new contract raising your salary from $4 million to $7.5 million annually. You have used your show as a platform to call for the resignation of corporate executives accepting excessive bonuses on the backs of taxpayers who are picking up the tab for these atrocious bailouts, yet you yourself have no problem engaging in the same “class economic rape” that you accuse them of.

Please heed your own advice and stop accepting taxpayer money to subsidize your nightly diatribes. Resign or return the balance of your excessive raise to the U.S. Treasury.
Sincerely,

How we could have saved Obama $328,825 without scaring the bejeebers out of New York City

statute_of_liberty_air_force_oneLooks like no one in the Obama administration can resist a camera. Not even his airplane.

Step One: get an original photo of Air Force One.
Step One: get an original photo of Air Force One.

They took Air Force One on location on Monday for a photo shoot over the skies of New York City. Unfortunately, they did it without notifying anyone in Mayor Bloomberg’s administration.

It was instant panic when the good citizens of New York City saw another 747 screaming in low over the skyline. They screamed. They ran. They feared for their lives. And rightfully so.

Perhaps all this could have been avoided with a little

Step Two: Get a photo of the Statue of Liberty.
Step Two: Get a photo of the Statue of Liberty.
Photoshop. A little resizing here, a couple color adjustments there, and then top it all off with a little clone stamp tool. Voila! Air Force One over the Statue of Liberty.

No flights over New York City were necessary. No Air Force One. No fighter jets. No pilots. No crew. No fuel. It would have save you about $$328,825 and a ton of bad publicity.

IHateTheMedia.com proudly offers the President this stunning PhotoShop version of Air Force One over the Statue of Liberty.

Just one thing, President Obama. Could you send us $10 for the PhotoShop work? That’s what the kid next door charged us.

Update: I see Rush is mentioning Air Force One and photoshop all morning. Someone get him this story so he can see it.

Disney accused of racism for demonstrating that they’re not racist

Race baiting critics did what they always do – they accused the studio of racial insensitivity.

So Disney did what American business always does – they caved in and made changes to the cartoon. But you can never do enough for the race baiters. Never.

President Obama plans primetime party disguised as press conference

American Idol judges watch intently as Barack Obama once again wows the audience at his latest primetime press conference/performance.
American Idol judges watch intently as Barack Obama once again wows the audience at his latest primetime press conference/performance.
American business be damned. When President Obama wants to celebrate his own greatness with a primetime press conference, the networks better just get in line.

Wednesday is the President’s 100th day in office and he’s “requested” another hour of the TV networks’ evening schedules.

“It’s an arbitrary day in which presidents are measured. We get that. We’re playing along,” said White House press secretary Robert Gibbs.

However, this request is more painful than previous ones because it comes during “sweeps week,” the time of year when ratings are measured and advertising rates established for the coming quarter. The networks roll their top programs during sweeps week. So they are loathe to give up their most valuable time for what Gibbs admits is an arbitrary date.

But in keeping with his other actions during the previous 99 days, the president has shown that his TV face time is more important than the networks’ advertising time.

Wednesday’s press conference will be the president’s third conducted in primetime. At the current pace, he is on track to hold one a month.

This guy obviously wants his own weekly TV show. So let’s just make him the only contestant on American Idol each week.

Randy can say, “Barack is in the house, dog.” Kara can say, “Is Paula sober tonight?” Paula can say, “You know, you really made America your own.” And Simon will be deported for being honest.
