March 2011

According to the Obama administration, acts of terrorism are now “man-caused disasters.” The global war on terror is now “overseas contingency operations.” Taxes are now “investments.” And wars are “kinetic military actions.”

In this clip, an unidentified representative from the Obama administration explains exactly what a kinetic military action is.

As he says at the very end, “It’s not cheap, but I’m sure the government will buy it.”

Remember the good ol’ days when Americans hung on every word this President said? When he was favorably compared to the greatest orators in history?

Those days are long gone. Now people would rather have red hot pokers stuck in their eyes than watch this guy deliver yet another uninspired and uninspiring lip flap-a-thon.

obama-sad

"Please, Allah, let them love me like they used to."

InsideTV.com has the dismal details:

President Obama’s speech viewership keeps on slipping.

Monday night’s policy address on Libya delivered 25.6 million viewers, continuing the president’s trend of declining ratings for his issue-oriented telecasts.

The speech was down 12% from Obama’s address on Iraq last August (29.2 million), which fell 9% from his speech on the Gulf Coast oil spill in June (32.1 million), which in turn dropped 21% from his Afghanistan speech back in December of 2009 (40.8 million). Last night’s address could have been dinged by starting slightly before primetime, at 7:30 p.m. (which also kept Obama from making ABC choose between the commander-in-chief and airing Dancing With the Stars at its usual time).

We watched a Seinfeld rerun instead and were struck by the thought that Obama’s speeches would be a lot more effective if they added a laughtrack.

Of all the odd things this administration has done, this is undoubtedly one of the oddest.

The President who said his was going to be the most open, most transparent administration in history held a secret ceremony Wednesday to accept an award for being open and transparent.

obama accepts transparency award

Hush little baby, don't you cry. Daddy's gonna give you an alibi.

Politico.com has the super secret details:

The secret presentation happened almost two weeks after the White House inexplicably postponed the ceremony, which was expected to be open to the press pool.

This time, Obama met quietly in the Oval Office with Gary Bass of OMB Watch, Tom Blanton of the National Security Archive, Danielle Brian of the Project on Government Oversight, Lucy Dalglish of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, and Patrice McDermott of OpenTheGovernment.org, without disclosing the meeting on his public schedule or letting photographers or print reporters into the room.

“Our understanding going into the meeting was that it would have a pool photographer and a print reporter, and it turned out to be a private meeting,” Bass told POLITICO. “He was so on point, so on target in the conversation with us, it is baffling why he would not want that message to be more broadly heard by reporters and the public interest community and the public generally.”

Remarkable. Even the people who gave him the award for being open and transparent don’t understand why the meeting was closed and undisclosed.

This would be funny if it weren’t so damn symbolic of the gulf between this administration’s words and its actions.

Here’s race con man Al Sharpton at the NAACP State Convention:

“My point is that they are advocating states rights which they are, immigration, they want Arizona to be able to supercede federal law and in other areas. States rights has always been the enemy of civil rights. The idea of the civil rights movement was for the federal government to protect citizens, not leave them alone. So that the basis of the Tea Party is antithetical to civil rights.”

Contrary to what Sharpton has to say, we’re pretty sure you can be for states rights and civil rights. But odds are you’ll be against civil rights scammers.

It’s really getting ugly for Democrats. Uglier than a love child born to Helen Thomas and Yasser Arafat.

The latest Rasmussen poll points out the particulars in a far less hideous fashion:

voter-trust

It’s been two months since Republicans regained control of the House of Representatives and they are now trusted more than Democrats on nine out of 10 important issues regularly tracked by Rasmussen Reports. In early January, voters trusted the GOP on all ten issues. That was the last time Republicans held trust on every issue since late August 2010. Still, this shows a sharp contrast from two years ago when Democrats were trusted more than Republicans on most issues.

Nice work, Democrats. Like we said, uglier than a love child born to Helen Thomas and Yasser Arafat.

Far be it from us to repeat ourselves, but that image is so particularly revolting that we thought it was worthwhile.

What happens when animal advocates run smack dab into wind farm advocates? Or to state the question a bit more precisely, what happens when birds run smack dab into wind mills. Civil war, that’s what.

windfarm

In 1861, the American Civil War broke out at Fort Sumter. 150 years later, the Environmental Civil War broke out in Spain.

The Daily Caller has the avian information:

On Tuesday an international bird watchdog group based in Spain, Save the Eagles International (STEI), warned that the expected construction of 3.5 million wind turbines worldwide will result in the extinction of a variety of bird species.

STEI is calling for a moratorium on all wind farm construction and an investigation into whether the threat to wildlife is worth the amount of energy produced — when, they say, there are so many other, more efficient sources of energy.

Which sources would those be? Nuclear’s unacceptable to environmentalists. They want hydro-electric dams destroyed. Coal’s a non-starter. Oil won’t fly.

According to STEI it is a fallacy to compare wind turbine bird deaths to other sources of bird carnage such as automobiles and high windows, as wind turbine construction is optional.

“[M]ortality caused by windfarms and their power lines is new and additional”, said STEI president Mark Duchamp. “[A]nd like the proverbial last drop that spills the glass, its effects will be upsetting. To wit the Tasmanian Wedge-tailed Eagle, which has been condemned to extinction by the construction of seven windfarms in its habitat.”

Nooooooooo! Not the Tasmanian Wedge-tailed Eagle! It’s our favorite of all the wedge-tailed eagles.

You might have fun taking this test at PoliticalCompass.org.

Just answer a few multiple choice questions and it will tell you where stand on the political spectrum compared to some famous world leaders and political philosophers.

The Editor and the Administrator took the test and we came out surprisingly, freakishly close, both over there in the conservative-libertarian quadrant near Friedman. We’re hoping that’s Milton Friedman, not Kinky Friedman.

Take the test and leave a comment telling us where you landed on the chart.

Eurocrats is such a perfect name for the nameless, faceless and seemingly senseless bureaucrats who people the European Union. Now these geniuses have decided they can cut CO2 emissions by 60 percent by 2050 by outlawing internal combustion engine cars in all European cities.

bonnie-and-clyde-car

When cars are outlawed, only outlaws will have cars

The Telegraph UK has the story:

The European Commission on Monday unveiled a “single European transport area” aimed at enforcing “a profound shift in transport patterns for passengers” by 2050 …

Top of the EU’s list to cut climate change emissions is a target of “zero” for the number of petrol and diesel-driven cars and lorries in the EU’s future cities.

Siim Kallas, the EU transport commission, insisted that Brussels directives and new taxation of fuel would be used to force people out of their cars and onto “alternative” means of transport.

“That means no more conventionally fuelled cars in our city centres,” he said. “Action will follow, legislation, real action to change behaviour.”

The Association of British Drivers rejected the proposal to ban cars as economically disastrous and as a “crazy” restriction on mobility.

“I suggest that he goes and finds himself a space in the local mental asylum,” said Hugh Bladon, a spokesman for the BDA.

Too late, Hugh. He already works for the European Commission, which may not be a mental asylum, but is virtually indistinguishable from one.

Is there anyone left who doesn’t think Anthony Weiner is the biggest dick in Congress? Anyone?

The New York Democrat is getting ready to run for mayor of New York City, so he’s been on a rampage about U.N. diplomats who use their diplomatic immunity to rack up unpaid parking tickets.

anthony weiner parking tickets

A classic case of misdirection: Point fingers at everyone else so no one points fingers at you

Pot, meet kettle. Turns out the hypocrite had his own stack of unpaid Washington, DC parking tickets – more than $2000 worth – until he quietly paid them off earlier this month.

The New York Daily News has the hypocritical headline:

From 2007 to March of this year, Weiner’s ticket total was 2,180 for violations near the Capitol and at Reagan Washington National Airport, Roll Call, the Capitol Hill newspaper, reported Tuesday.

A Weiner spokesman said all of the fees have since been paid. Aides to the Queens Democrat claim that part of the problem may have that D.C. sent notices to a bad address.

But Weiner “is pleased to have helped decrease the D.C. budget deficit,” the spokesman told Roll Call.

We really doubt that Weiner cares about the budget deficit, but he certainly hopes the voters have an attention deficit.

Weiner has raged against foreign dignitaries who ignore New York City’s traffic rules, and last year introduced a bill seeking to get $18 million in unpaid parking tickets from 180 nations for the city.

“It’s insulting to all New Yorkers that countries like Yemen, Zimbabwe and Iran owe the city millions in unpaid parking tickets,” Weiner said.

Let’s hear it for Anthony Weiner, ladies and gentlemen, the most appropriately named man in Congress.

We think we see a trend here. Monday we had the story of the feds telling Marin County, California that it was too white. Now black Georgia lawmakers have filed suit against five cities for the same offense.

chattahoochee-hills

Welcome to Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia, which has been declared "too white"

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has details of the scary story:

The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus filed a lawsuit Monday against the state of Georgia seeking to dissolve the city charters of Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, Milton and Chattahoochee Hills. Further, the lawmakers, joined by civil rights leader the Rev. Joseph Lowery, aim to dash any hopes of a Milton County.

The lawsuit, filed in a North Georgia U.S. District Court Monday, claims that the state circumvented the normal legislative process and set aside its own criteria when creating the “super-majority white” cities within Fulton and DeKalb counties. The result, it argues, is to dilute minority votes in those areas, violating the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution.

“This suit is based on the idea that African Americans and other minorities can elect the people of their choice,” said Democratic State Sen. Vincent Fort.

The Office of the Governor and the Office of the Attorney General declined comment pending further review of the case.

Too white! Where’s Jesse Jackson? Where’s Al Sharpton? And even more importantly, where’s common sense?

Bill “Yeah, I’m Still An Unrepentant Terrorist” Ayers, a close personal friend of President Obama, is so far off to the left that you need a telescope to find him.

“Every resident of a country with an American military base within its borders ought to have the right to vote in an American presidential election,” Ayers said. “That causes a different kind of way of thinking, doesn’t it? I mean, imagine, you know, if hundreds and hundreds of millions of people voting for the American president from countries as diverse as Cuba and Italy and, you know, wherever. (indistinguishable) I think it’s a great idea. What do you think?”

What do we think? Well, Willie, we think you have it backwards. We have military bases in those countries because, at one time or another, we saved their asses from some oppressor.

Seems to us that if fair was fair, we should be able to vote in their elections, not vice versa.

A Taunton, Massachusetts job fair that’s been held annually since 1984 has been canceled for the very best of reasons: There ain’t no jobs.

Boston.com has the story of the unemployed and their unemployers:

A Massachusetts employment organization has canceled its annual job fair because not enough companies have come forward to offer jobs.

unemployed

Massachusetts residents line up early for the the annual Taunton Job Fair

Richard Shafer, chairman of the Taunton Employment Task Force, says 20 to 25 employers are needed for the fair scheduled for April 6, but just 10 tables had been reserved. One table was reserved by a nonprofit that offers human services to job seekers, and three by temporary employment agencies.

Shafer tells the Taunton Daily Gazette the lack of employers means the task force won’t have enough money to properly advertise the fair.

No problem. If those unemployed Tauntonites can fake an Indian accent, we can get them jobs at the IHateTheMedia.com call center in Mumbai.

Despite the fact that the current unpleasantries in Libya were only six days old, an Obama administration official told CNN that the President’s speech had been in development for weeks.

Do we think the spokesperson was lying or exaggerating for effect? Nah, nothing so nefarious. We suspect that he was just seeing if he could match the high level of bullshittery that’s come to be expected from any spokesman from this administration.

obama-god

And on the seventh day, the Lord God Obama gave a speech

CNN has the details:

President Obama’s Libya speech began taking shape late last week, but the “themes have been in development for weeks,” according to a senior administration official.

Those themes “have been reflected in what the president and others have been saying about Libya all along,” the official added.

Pressure had been mounting on the president to deliver a speech on Libya that would provide more clarity to the mission and a reason for the U.S. engagement. The president authorized U.S. involvement in the military action on March 19th.

The speech comes just days after NATO agreed to assume command and control of the coalition effort in Libya.

Translation of that last paragraph: We’re still payng the tab, but someone else is now going to tell us how to spend our money.

President Obama is apparently in hot pursuit of the student vote. He announced Monday that he thinks our poor, pampered little darlings are either bored by tests or punished by them.

obama-student

President Obama is against testing. This really makes us want to see those missing report cards.

The Associated Press has news that tests our patience:

President Barack Obama said Monday that students should take fewer standardized tests and school performance should be measured in other ways. Too much testing makes education boring for kids, he said.

“Too often what we have been doing is using these tests to punish students,” the president told students and parents at a town hall hosted by the Univision Spanish-language television network at Bell Multicultural High School in Washington, D.C.

Obama, who is pushing a rewrite of the nation’s education law that would ease some of its rigid measurement tools, said policymakers should find a test that “everybody agrees makes sense” and administer it in less pressure-packed atmospheres, potentially every few years instead of annually.

At the same time, Obama said, schools should be judged on criteria other than student test performance, including attendance rate.

“One thing I never want to see happen is schools that are just teaching the test because then you’re not learning about the world, you’re not learning about different cultures, you’re not learning about science, you’re not learning about math,” the president said. “All you’re learning about is how to fill out a little bubble on an exam and little tricks that you need to do in order to take a test and that’s not going to make education interesting.”

“And young people do well in stuff that they’re interested in,” Obama said. “They’re not going to do as well if it’s boring.”

Let us summarize the President’s position: Don’t judge students on things like tests, because that could cause members of the teachers unions to look bad, but do judge them on things like showing up for class because that causes more tax dollars to flow directly into the school districts.

In othe words, let’s just change it from “No Student Left Behind” to “Leftist Students Sitting On Their Behinds” and get it over with.

New York Senator Chuck Schumer is this close to having a tizzy fit. This close. The Democrat is irate that New York City’s population barely budged in the last ten years.

The New York Daily News has the details:

chuck-schumer

The perfect juxtaposition of publicity-seeking senator and unfortunately-positioned background sign

Sen. Chuck Schumer called on the federal government Saturday to probe the 2010 U.S. Census’ finding that New York City had grown by a mere trickle.

“These numbers cry out for investigation,” Schumer said, adding his voice to a chorus of critics, including Mayor Bloomberg, who have railed against the decennial count.

“I’m going to put a lot of pressure on them to do it,” he said. “For the census director to just shrug his shoulders … isn’t good enough.”

The U.S. Census reported that the city grew by 166,855 over a decade to 8.175 million despite a Census estimate last year that reported the city was home to 8.3million people.

Schumer called for the investigation in a letter to U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and U.S. Census Bureau Director Robert Groves.

Oh, yeah, this should be a fascinating investigation as Schumer delves into whether a Democrat President and a Democrat House of Representatives and a Democrat Senate and a Democrat Census Director all conspired to shortchange a Democrat stronghold.

We would propose that there’s a perfectly logical explanation as to why New York City fell short of earlier census estimates: If you had a Congressmen like Anthony Weiner and Charlie Rangel and a senator like Chuck Schumer, wouldn’t you consider moving somewhere else, too.

We understand. When we see the phrase “reporter spouts gibberish” we immediately also assume they’re talking about Katie Couric. But not this time.

A few weeks ago we featured a video clip of a Los Angeles TV reporter spouting gibberish on the air.

Now this new clip shows Mark McAllister, a reporter for the Global Toronto network, doing a report from Japan that goes wrong. Very, very wrong.

McAllister later acknowledged the incident and said he was seeing a doctor.

Good luck, Mark.

We present the following information strictly as a public service to our readers. Specifically, we refer those readers who a couple weeks ago involved themselves in a comment thread regarding a man’s size “down there” and whether it mattered.

The Herald Sun Australia reports:

THE internet is full of useful information, much of it unverified but eyebrow-raising.

And the latest addition to this genre is a table of the average penis size by country.

The data, which says it is a mix of stated and undefined sources, has some ego-shattering information for Australian men if it is to be believed.
Australia comes in 94th on the list, with a “measured” average penis size of 13.2cm.

NOTE: We’re sad to report that American men ranked even further down the list with an average girth of just 12.90 cm.

The information is attributed to “Australia’s national agency for health and welfare”.

Number one on the list is the Congo, with an average “self-reported” penis size of 18cm.

Rounding out the top five are Ecuador at 17.5cm (measured), Ghana at 17.3 cm (self-reported), Colombia at 17cm (measured) and Venezuela at 17cm (measured).

It is a little known fact that IHateTheMedia.com’s Editor is Congolese and the Administrator is Ecuadorian.

Those vile racists in Marin County, California have built border fences topped with barbed wire in order to keep minorities out. Figuratively, of course, but that’s how the Obama administration looks at it.

The Bay Citizen reports the lily white details:

The draft report, released Wednesday, came in response to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s determination that Marin had “failed to comply” with the 1964 Civil Rights Act and two other anti-discrimination statutes.

Marin’s Community Development Agency recommended amending zoning regulations to ease the construction of new apartments, passing new laws requiring new developments to offer housing at below-market rates, and stepping up programs to combat discrimination by landlords and realtors.

Chuck Hauptman, HUD’s Regional Director for Fair Housing, said officials were reviewing the plan “to see if it is acceptable as far as content goes.”

Oddly enough, this is one of the most liberals enclaves in liberal California. Despite the fact that the Obama administration has somehow determined that the county is “too white” and, therefore, somehow racist, 77.77% of its voters cast their ballots for Obama in the 2008 Presidential election. Another .26% voted for lunatic leftist Cynthia McKinney and .18% voted for conservative Alan Keyes.

Bottom line: More than 78% of these racists voted for black candidates for President.

Remember back in the 1980s when we armed both sides of the Iran-Iraq War and then sat back and watched them kill each other? Ahhh, those were the days. We could have done the same thing in Libya and watched al Qaeda madmen and Kadhafi henchmen eliminate each other but no. Not with military genius Barack Obama at the helm.

us-jet-libya

Simultaneously bombing Kadhafi's fragile army and America's fragile economy

CBS News details the President’s expensive expedition:

One week after an international military coalition intervened in Libya, the cost to U.S. taxpayers has reached at least $600 million, according figures provided by the Pentagon.

U.S. ships and submarines in the Mediterranean have launched at least 191Tomahawk cruise missiles from their arsenals, costing $268.8 million, the Pentagon said.

U.S. warplanes have dropped 455 precision guided bombs, costing tens of thousands of dollars each.

A downed Air Force F-15E fighter jet will cost more than $60 million to replace.
And operation of ships and aircraft, guzzling ever-more-expensive fuel to maintain their positions off the Libyan coast and in the skies above, could reach millions of dollars a week, experts say.

“Each sortie, even if it drops no munitions, is very pricey,” said Winslow Wheeler of the Center for Defense Information. “These airplanes cost us tens of thousands of dollars to operate per hour, and the fancier you get in terms of planes, the costs get truly astounding.”

Nearly $100 million a day. Just imagine how many bloated public employee pensions that could have paid.

Wait. That may not have been the best example we could have come up with. Give us a couple minutes. Check back later. We’ll do better.

Sad to say, but the New Black Panthers have turned on President Obama. Is that any way for them to repay the kindness of Eric Holder’s so-called Justice Department?

New Black Panther Leader Malik Zulu Shabazz tells President Obama, “You should have listened to Louis Farrakhan a long time ago when you were seated at his table.”

And just for good measure, Shabazz plays Dr. Laura and offers relationship advice for Michelle and the girls.

In summary, America’s first black president is acting too damn white.

You may have noticed over the weekend that most newspaper and TV reports blamed the violent London riots on anarchists. A new kind of anarchists, apparently, who believe in big government.

Just to make sure we correctly understood anarchy, we went to the dictionary to double check our understanding of the word:

anarchist-london

One of the new breed of anarchists who wants more government, bigger government, all-encompassing government

Anarchism is a political philosophy which considers the state undesirable, unnecessary, and harmful, and instead promotes a stateless society, or anarchy.
Source: Wikipedia.org

Look how easy that was. It took us about two seconds to do what the media couldn’t bother doing.

Obviously, members of the left wing media would rather choke on their own vomit than admit the riots were caused by socialists and communists and union thugs and other assorted left wing lunatics demanding not just a continuation of the government gravy train, but more government, bigger government, all-encompassing government.

So they were magically transformed into anarchists who rioted in order to bring about a system that’s in direct contradiction of their own philosophy.

For example, check out the following news reports:

“Anarchists went on the rampage in central London as hundreds of thousands of people marched in protest at government cuts.”
Source: Telegraph UK

“200 arrested as hardcore anarchists fight police long into night in Battle of Trafalgar Square after 500,000 march against the cut.”
Source: Daily Mail UK

“Hundreds of masked protesters have clashed with police in London’s main shopping district, disrupting traffic and occupying a department store.
The black-clad anarchists were a breakaway group from a quarter of a million people who marched to protest against the British government’s austerity measures.”
Source: ABC Australia

“Black-clad, masked youths battled riot police and attacked banks and luxury stores in central London yesterday, overshadowing a protest by more than a quarter of a million Britons against government spending cuts.

“Police said they had arrested 125 people after anarchist groups splintered from the main union-led protest march and fought running skirmishes with riot police across the West End shopping and theatre district.”
Source: Reuters

“… the day was marred by a violent minority of anarchists who went on the rampage, smashing windows and attacking property around Oxford Street. Prentis said he regretted that the actions of ‘a few hundred’ risked diverting attention from the message that the ‘political heat is rising on the government’.”
Source: Guardian UK

Consider it reason #216 we hate the media: They intentionally mis-use and redefine words to spread confusion and further their left wing agenda.

Independent Senator Joe Liebermann, who sits on the Armed Services Committee, just lost us. We’ve always kind of liked the guy, but those days are over as of Sunday.

Lieberman thinks we should attack Syria next because he thinks it will win over the “Arab people.” You know, much like our invasions of Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya have won over the Arab people.

Our suggestion for Joe: Never overdose of prescription pain killers before appearing on a Sunday morning interview program.

Gary Bryan, a great morning disc jockey on K-EARTH 101 in Los Angeles, said, “Howard Stern and Rush Limbaugh have the same birthday. So much for astrology.”

You have to admit that he makes a good point. A very good  point.

If you don’t live in Southern California, try catching Gary’s syndicated weekend oldies show, Dick Clark Presents Rewind with Gary Bryan. It’s on radio stations all across the country.

Sunday was a great day on the network news programs. You had Joe Lieberman proposing that we invade Syria next and Chris Wallace chastising the President for boycotting Fox News, but the highlight of the morning was the moment that Hillary Clinton kneecapped her own Secretary of Defense live on Meet the Press.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates started things by going off the reservation and admitting that Libya is not a “vital interest” for the United States.

You could almost see a thought balloon forming over Hillary’s head that said, “WTF?” She cut Gates off faster than she cut Bill off during the Lewinsky scandal and attemped to justify whatever it is we’re doing in Libya.

Wouldn’t you have loved to be in the limo with those two after the show was over?
