More people died Monday in a horrible accident at Sayano-Shushenskaya than died at Chernobyl. So why hasn’t it been the lead story on every newspaper and every network newscast?
Simple.
Chernobyl was nuclear energy plant, which made it bad. Sayano-Shushenskaya was a hydroelectric plant, which made it good. Good and renewable and green.
There’s one important lesson to be learned from this awful accident: Don’t expect consistency from an eco-wacko.

My sympathies go to the families. It is always sad when accidents take lives, no matter what happened.

well the reason it gets no press is only these people are dead…none of the surrounding people will die from the radiation fall out……and the greenies dont want you to know that these places arent perfect either….
I can’t stand the “false” green movement….it is a total money grab from all angles and there are very few people out there trying to go “green” for the proper reasons…..

Agreed. Carbon credits are the indulgences of the 21st century.

I sell lumber and plywood for a living…we sell FSC certified lumber…which according to some (money hungry) in the industry more green than non-fsc lumber….
But when you look into it , the same thing with a higher price tag and some paper that comes with it….
