A physician’s new reality: patients ask me to break the law. “Obamacare is very clear as to what is covered and what is not. Obamacare — intentionally — makes it as difficult to be seen and taken care of as possible.” Here’s what medicine will be like with the gubbermint looking over your doctor’s shoulder: “I am now mandated by the government to talk to you about your weight, exercise, family life, smoking, sexual abuse(!), and even to ask if you wear seat belts. And I am mandated to record your answers.” It’s not as bad as we thought… it’s worse!

I consult in the medical clinic industry. May I share with you just one example of the ludicrous nature of having some bureaucrat at Medicare tell doctors what they can charge?

Ever heard of an EKG? You know, that whiz-bang machine where electrodes are placed on your torso and a reading is done of your heart beat? You know what Medicare has set as the current price they will pay? (which by the way, drives all pricing paid by all insurance companies as well). What does Medicare pay for this critical diagnostic procedure?

$9.00!

You read that right. Medicare bureaucrats have determined that getting an EKG done on you to check your heart is worth NINE FRICKING DOLLARS! So if you wonder why your doctor may not order an EKG for you in the future, now you will understand why.

Good luck for living a long life in Obama’s America.

“You and I are told we must choose between a left or right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down. Up to man’s age-old dream — the maximum of individual freedom consistent with order — or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism. Regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would sacrifice freedom for security have embarked on this downward path. Plutarch warned, ‘The real destroyer of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations and benefits.’ ”
-Ronald Reagan-
(1911-2004) 40th US President
October 27, 1964

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
-C.S. Lewis-

“There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want, merely because you think it would be good for him.”
-Robert Heinlein-

What a coincidence — my favorite president and two of my favorite writers.

While most everyone on this site and myself are going to suffer as a result of this monstrosity, I can’t wait until a couple guys I know get the bad news. They are all excited about the freeeee health care. Thought I was an idiot when I tried to tell them that nothin is free. Both have health problems, heart, diabetes, and other issues. Adios.
In one guys situation, he is quite overweight. I’ll bet Obamacare bureaucrats are going to tell him that until he loses a hundred pounds they aren’t going to pay for anything.
Also I understand that the Dr. has to ask if there are guns in your house. Me? Nope, Hate guns. Wouldnt have them anywhere near my house. No need for the government to come to my house and get those guns that I dont have. I gave all my guns to a friend in Canada.

If the doctor asked me a government mandated question about sex I would answer ‘I’ve slept with 2 dudes, 1 transvestite, and 3 canines in the past week while exposing myself to several small children in a San Fransisco restaurant on Tuesday.’ You know, just to stay under the radar. If you older dudes have wives and answer ‘I’ve been married 20 years and she’s the only person I’ve had sex with in that time’ they’d probably tell you that you have a mental disorder and lock you up.

Also, I feel bad for everyone over 45-50 (don’t know how old you are Navy) because these guys are the Obamacare Generation. Y’all going to be given a pill instead of that life saving surgery, and it’ll probably be a birth control pill since it seems that’s the only thing the Bureaucrats care about.

Don’t feel bad for me, just carry your load when the SHTF, because I will be in this for your generation and the ones following yours.
If you think it will only be the ‘old’ that get the ‘pill/shot’, HA. You really need to re-think that position, because everyone is expendable, at any time.

They aren’t protected either. In fact, the bureaucrats (the lower the position, the more vulnerable they are) may well be included in the first rounds. In any case they will be stuck, either carry out the orders or join the cattle in the round-up. Its happened many times before. The ‘suck-up/ass-kissers’ are eliminated quickly, they can’t be trusted.

They aren’t protected at all. People will find them – no matter where they hide. Think ‘French Revolution’.

Addendum: Besides if the ones you mentioned don’t have us to worry about, they will turn on themselves.

The reason I say I feel sorry for you guys is because when shit does hit the fan, and while everyone is going to suffer, I can survive gas rationing like this country has seen before, I can survive inflation giving way to high food prices and even shortages, but what happens if we hit 20-25-30 trillion dollars in debt, inflation and unemployment are through the roof, our healthcare system is in government controlled shambles, and there’s something like a blood-pressure medication shortage? Combine that with a shortage of Doctors and Nurses, then what? How many people are alive today that would have been dead years ago if not for a now common medication like that? If something like a gas or food shortage is a possibility, then something like that has to be a possibility.

That’s just one scenario. There are countless scenarios that can play out. Hopefully we all survive the next 4 years and the following years it takes to fix all this shit, but if said shit does hit the fan, the Obamacare Generation is going to be the first generation to suffer. It might be through ‘death panels’ or inflation and debt, who knows. Save the ‘fema camp’ scenario, which I don’t buy for a second although I will willingly bring up to make a point about tyranny, the fact is if our healthcare system is over bureaucratized or the economy seriously tanks, it will be the Obamacare generation that suffers first. Granted, it may be my generation that suffers second if we don’t reverse course.

Just checking to see if your ‘programing’ was successful or if you need ‘special attention’ at the ‘Re-education Center’ (Re-grooving).

Just give them the answers they ‘want to hear’.

If you are not intimately familiar with the notorious Salem Witch Trials, one accused, Giles Corey, refused to plead either guilt or innocence. He was placed on the ground with a barn door on his chest, onto which the Court placed rocks — intending to literally pressure him into a plea, or kill him trying. At one point, Justice Mather asked him if he had anything to say. Goodman Corey replied simply, “More weight.” I think that’s how I will respond to any “medical” inquiry which has nothing to do with my health.

Yes, I’ve done some reading about the trials, the one you mention above being one I have read about. The only thing I would add to what Giles Corey said is a ‘big resounding’ MF’er at the end! Thought it when I first read the story, and still I think that way.

So, in other words, Obamacare is going to be just like the VA healthcare system?
The only things you left out is that they question you about your alcohol consumption, (1 beer a night with dinner seems to be a problem for the government), and they want you to make out a living will, so they can pull the plug ASAP!

Actually a number of insurance companies have mandated this same set of questions since the mid 90′s that I know of. I used to do chart audits to see if these questions were documented in the chart and whatthe physicians’ response and plan of treatment was.

The UK health system will now offer “virtual clinics” via iPad and Skype. Get ready for a new use for the joystick in the prostate exam.

Virtual surgery?
Virtually no actual care?
