Until I see hard facts to indicate otherwise, I have to see this glass as not only half empty, but probably soon to be broken, leaving us with no glass and no water.

I have to assume that this is an extension of the low approval ratings for Congress that we routinely see coincident with the re-election of 98% of the incumbents. In other words, there is either some abstract philosophical concept of “gov’t” that is perceived as the threat, while Obama, Schumer, Reid, et al are seen as “our heros”, fighting for the little guy against this ethereal, indefinite “threat,

The threat that people are referring to are those “other guys” who are being meanies, not being bi-paritsan, and looking out only for the special interests. THEY are the ones who make gov’t bad and threatening. If it wasn’t for THEM, MY guys would have this country just humming along like a well-oiled machine.

Of course, it would be informative to know the respondents’ definitions of “threat” and “freedom”. What a dyed-in-the-wool liberal would call a threat might be very different from a libertarian’s view.

It only took the “We’ve come from the Government, and we’re here to help” line of bullshit to wake most people up. And just who are these people helping? Why themselves of course.
Thus the push for gun control rather then fixing the deficit or creating jobs, We are one more financial crisis way from the shit hitting the fan, and they know it.

Once again an oppressive government is doing its utter best to start another civil war. As those who just knew barry would take care of all their needs are finding out, he and his clowns are taking care of only themselves. From barry care costing 20K for a family of 4 right up to looking at taking control of people’s 401Ks, this communist has no damn clue of the shit storm that he is stirring. Something else, I learned today from my Chropractor that there are 29 questions that those in the medical profession are to ask a patient. If you’re concerned about your 401k, do yourself a favor. Cash it out, pay the 20% penalty and hide it.
Either buy gold and sliver, or invest it in weapons and survival supplies. One way or the other, you will lose money, but losing 20% beats the hell out of losing everything.

I never expected to collect SS when I was younger. The government was stealing money from the fund even then. And had I not developed Kidney failue, I would still be working, as I would not be allowed to retire til 2-3 years after my parents’ generation. That my work for desk jobs, but for those of us who actually WORK, hard physical work, requiring workinf into late 60′s, even 70′s is rediculous. You, on the other hand could be a leech well into your 80′s. Oh, but not on SS. Even if the fund had gazillions of dollars in it, you wouldn’t qualify,because you actually have to workm at a real job and pay into the system for a certain number of quarters. And you don’t. Good luck under your bridge.

Actually I have applied ofor desk jobs repeatedly and the won’t hire me because I am a nurse with a degree and they don’t believe I won’t leave for a better paying job. I worked as a waitress for some 4 years after I had to quit nursing, And have attempted to go back to nursing jobs twice, but I was unablke to manage my meds, my eating ( I developed diabetes due to the transplant drugs) and my associated anemia and HTN. And again, you don’t know your ass from a hole in the ground, so STFU!

Funny, my youngest son has kidney problems, he works. I watched some guy on that TV show one night (the one where the boss goes incognito to see what the employees are up to), they had a guy on there who had kidney failure, was on dialysis and still managed to work 40 hours a week.

Yea I have had kidney stones a couple times, I was off for a day or two mostly because I was medicated to the max, it’s kinda like giving birth to a broken bottle…anyway I went back to work, and carried on….

IMO Dingle Barry wants to take over the 401K’s (next IRA’s) because the union bosses he has been fellating have stolen all the money in their members retirement funds and the Chicago Asswipe has to bail them out or their idiot members might wake up to the fact that they have been screwed.
BTW. Wife and I have stopped contributing to IRA’s. Two reasons. One the DC Scumbags will probably take it. Two, the taxes now are most likely a hell of a lot less than they will be in a few years when we want to take it out.

Democracy requires an intelligent and hopefully well educated populace. America can no longer claim that the majority fall into that category. We have been around 236 years. How long was the Roman empire around before it collapsed? Theheyday of the Egyptian Pharoahs? The Persian empire? Maybe humans are incapable of sustaining anything for very long, no matter what type of government it is.
