Mississippi town figures out simple, effective way to stop Westboro Baptist Church funeral protest

Brandon, Mississippi will go down in history as the town where the Westboro Baptist Church met its match.

The lunatics showed up to protest at the funeral of local hero Staff Sgt Jason Rogers who was killed in Afghanistan, but left town without making a peep. They may have made a few moans and groans, but no peeps.

westboro-demonstrator

Westboro Baptist is really more of an asylum than a church

The Hayride has the righteous report:

A couple of days before, one of them (Westboro protestors) ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his arse waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.

Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county.

Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out.

A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.

No lawyers. No judges. No counter protests. Just a good old fashioned ass kicking.

That’s exactly what the Westboro lunatics have been asking for, so it’s only fair that the good folks in Rankin County gave it to them.

Next time, put it on pay per view and make a fortune for the widows and children of the military heroes. We know we’d pay to see it.

Update: We thought we should include the video that accompanied the original story. It’s the view from a trooper’s dash cam recording the escort of Marine Staff Sgt Jason Rogers as hundreds or even thousands of onlookers gathered alongside the roadway to pay their respects.

It’s like the story of the bank robber who stabbed a Marine. Broken legs, dislocated shoulder, broken ribs, broken nose, fractured skull. Police report? He tripped and fell off the curb.

Yes it is, or at least it should be. When someone is as ungrateful and as disrespectful as the people of the Westboro Baptist Church are they do not deserve rights. The constitution was written for the majority of Americans who actually deserve these rights, and what you give to one man you have to give to all. I dont think James Madison was anticipating this type of crime against society when he gave all Americans those rights. If our Founding Fathers were still running this country today they would have already sent down the military to have these men and women hanged for these crimes they are committing against humanity. The reason why the people of the Westboro Baptist Church people are still alive is because the United States of America gives them these rights that are defended by our men and women in the armed forces. If you are going to protest the funeral of one of our soldiers ,who you owe your way of life to, then you do not deserve the rights you were given. So yes it IS ok to violate their Civil Rights because those rights should not have been given to them and they do not deserve them.

GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS

really? The constitution is for everyone. I don’t respect their protsesting funerals but they are only saying the same things I have heard coming out of many pulpits. It’s deplorable that they choose to victimize the soldiers that do stand and fight for them but it’s also equally bad to say they can’t. I’m a vet and when I signed up I didn’t get asked whether or not I would like to fight exclusively for one portion of America. Does everyone forget what the VietNam vets went through? It wasn’t a small group like WBC, it was a whole nation that turned their backs.

Do you really consider it protesting funerals, or, what *they themselves* say they are trying to do – which is to push their beliefs and indoctrinate? See the difference? This is solicitation and indoctrination attempts thinly guised as “protest” and protected by claiming “free speech” and “religious organization”

There is a difference when one considers their intent and reasons, as opposed to the legal justifications they use to further their campaign of soliciting new members and campaign to attempt to indoctrinate others.

These stunts by them are for nothing but that – publicity, indoctrination and soliciting new members. Big difference from “free speech” issues.

I find it ironic that you feel the need to put yourself into the shoes of people that pervert the right that the men and women like myself in our armed forces die everyday for. I just hope to god they have the brilliant idea to protest anywhere in Texas.

It’s not protesting. It’s trying to use such activities as a tool to get their “religious” message of hate across under the *GUISE* of protesting. There is a difference. They themselves seem to admit it on their very own website. Hard to dispute what they themselves claim.

Otherwise, I’d agree with you.

Sometimes there is a difference between the right thing and the legal thing. The people who beat up that guy did the right thing, they allowed a mother and a father to burry their son in peace. Those men should not be arrested, those men should be praised.

The WBC people got what they deserved because they were stupid enough to protest a soldier who died for his country and fighting for everybody’s freedom including theirs. The WBC people need a rude awakening and need to understand what they are doing is wrong. They are not doing as the Bible says. They are doing as they believe and what they believe goes against everything that is right.

This is not a church, this is a hate group. Westboro Baptist Church spreads its hate through picketing in our streets, provoking attacks, with abusive language and flag desecration, attempting to create a confrontation. This is not about protesting, freedom, or God. They are in it for the money and the press; this is a family law firm. They are not a “church.” It is a scam. They go after anything that can get them in the news. This is a family of lawyers using this “god hates you” thing to make money. It is time for this scam to be over.

Not real interested in getting in a pissin match with ya, but do you really think lugging a sign around at a soldiers funeral that says “God Hates Faggots” is a respectful way to get your point across?

Ephesians 4:29 (KJV)
29. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

One more thing – since you seem to like to throw Bible verses around:
Thessalonians 4:11-12
11Try your best to live quietly, to mind your own business, and to work hard, just as we taught you to do. 12Then you will be respected by people who are not followers of the Lord, and you won’t have to depend on anyone.

Which comes from the New International version but the one I remember:

Thessalonians 4:11-12
11And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

12That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

Seems I had to write that one about a million times for my Mama when I was a boy – maybe she was trying to make a point?

I don’t advocate violence either. I also don’t advocate the current trend of using negative ugly terminology to describe political or ideological opponents.

I do think a bit of anger is justified –at the beginning of this whole mess these people showed up uninvited with their inflammatory signs and chants at a funeral. They apparently have absolutely little to no respect for their fellow humans, much less that boy’s Mamma and Daddy.

They are the one’s throwing the stones and the people affected by this are to just stand around and do nothing?

Are you really saying that you wouldn’t be a bit angry if that were your boy laying there?

Calling people Haters and Patriots or un-Patriots or whatever the current word is for anybody to the right of the political spectrum only adds fuel to fire.

I am not questioning your motives – just your tactics – same as you are questioning the tactics of the people advocating the “violence”. (and rightly so, I might add).
You are pointing fingers, stereotyping and pigeonholing a whole bunch of people for the actions of a few.

In your own organizations words poppajoe49:

Patriot Guard Riders Mission Statement

The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security. If you share this respect, please join us.

We don’t care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or what your income is; you don’t even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect.

Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives:

Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.
Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.

We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means.

To those of you who are currently serving and fighting for the freedoms of others, at home and abroad, please know that we are backing you. We honor and support you with every mission we carry out, and we are praying for a safe return home for all.

You claim LEGAL AND NON-VIOLENT ways. Yet you applaud them here.

Help me out here Poppa – I came in on this one a bit late. I saw this guy throwing verses around and then contradicting himself. I’ve read your mission statement which clearly states Non-violent and Lawful means, Strictly. I looked back through the posts – of which there are many – I don’t seem to be able to find anything anywhere were you yourself personally applauded violence – one time I saw where you said something about popping somebody, but every now and again a boy just needs a swift kick in the ass to get the point across – but to me, that ain’t violence, that’s just life. P.S. this is a war time. To stop this institution from continuing its hateful message, it must be shown that it is not facing an opponent that is lying down. It must be shown that it is facing a group of people, all over this nation, that think they are wrong. Only one man had the courage to take on the church in court, and while he lost, we have not. It is time for OUR VOICES to be heard!!! We obviously will not break the law to stop them, but a corrupted organization can still fall, and fall it shall. If you would like to HELP KC PRODUCTIONS LIVE stop them from carrying on this horrible crime to military families, please POST BELOW AND ATTEND THIS EVENT !!. We will show them that the people they harrass are not alone !!

To clarify, this is a ride to support the fallen and injured soldiers who have put themselves in harms way for our freedom. We thought it would be in the best interest of everyone to take the support that we have for our troops to Topeka KS and to show that we as a group outway the few of Westboro. This is a peaceful event, not one of hatred for we as Americans do not want to “stoop” to the Westboro Baptist Church level, for we are better then that. One collective voice of hundreds showing that we as Americans stand behind our fellow soldiers putting there lives on the line daily will prove that we cannot be outdone !! This is a benefit run and money raised will go to help an injured soldiers home so it’s more accessible for them and to show that we will always support them !!

We will be organizing a bike run passing by Westboro Baptist in Topeka that will end with live music by UNWRITTEN RULZ AS A TRIBUTE TO ALL !!
AND MONEY RAISED WILL BE GOING TO HELP OUR INJURED SOLDIERS MAKE THERE HOUSES MORE HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE FOR A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE COMING BACK HOME .

ALL DETAILS OF EVENT ( FUNDRAISER ) WILL BE POSTED SOON AS THEY UNFOLD. THIS IS AN AN OPEN EVENT TO ANY ONE WHO WANTS TO HELP, DONATE, OR ORGANIZE is welcomed. Remember, UNITED WE STAND !!

Oct 2nd is a tentative date, so stayed tuned in once everything is finalized.

This song and the accompanying video are dedicated to those who have lost loved ones to the ravages of war. Spc. Joel Lin Bertoldie was killed on July 18, 2003 by a roadside bomb in Iraq. His uncle Patrick, who is the drummer for Unwritten Rulz, wrote this song in his memory.

VIDEO LINK….. http://youtu.be/BkEqzlsY3aA

I’ll tell ya something else, if I would have seen any of them at my nephew’s service … I’da waxed some arse as well. I don’t find that disrespectful in the least – standing up for his right to a peaceful and dignified funeral. I would wax on anyone that I could that tried to smear his last moments on this earth with such filth. I don’t care if American laws permit it or not.

Does that make me as bad as someone trying to intentionally make people such as myself mad during such events? Maybe – I don’t care. I know for a fact that I’ll have more folks praising the action than crying for the WBC idiots.

I reckon that makes me a neanderthal … can you imagine the tears I shed imagining that folks think that of me? LOL

Oklahoma has lost 12 young men from the 45th Div in the last 2 months. It’s been an honor to help protect some of these men’s families from the BS of these idiots. If the media would refuse to acknowledge their presense that would help tremendously. The PGR and other groups provide an outstanding service for the families; thank you all!!! Nam Vet and Proud.

Wait, they protested at a funeral service? Have these people no shame? They deserve more than an ass kicking. Someone needs to rid of these people.

Well … you know what they say …. Put your money where your mouth is …. The Church address is 3701 W. 12th Street in Topeka, KS.

Just remember in their mind every time someone speaks out against them, attacks them, or does harm to them. In their minds it just reinforces their belief that they are doing God’s Will.

They believe they are right because EVERYONE HATES THEM ! DUH !

Interesting how you came ridin in on your high righteous horse, throwing verses to show the evil of others ways, using the Bible as a backdrop to support your condemnation…..

And now you resort to elementary schoolyard insults.

That pretty much sums up the reason nobody is interested in your opinion.

I was one of the bikers in Jason’s Funeral procession! Them Westboro baptist bitches try to come to the center of Mississippi the BUCKLE of the bible belt and try to protest a funeral for a HERO!! You should expect to get ran the fuck out of town! there is no way in hell we would have let this stand! just goes to show that when shit goes down no matter how much biker gangs and clubs dislike one another; when someone comes to our town to disrespect a HERO all 600 riders are going to band together and do what is right!

Westboro Baptist Church spreads its hate through picketing in our streets, provoking attacks, with abusive language and flag desecration, attempting to create a confrontation. This is not a church, this is a hate group. This is not about protesting, freedom, or God. They are in it for the money and the press; this is a family law firm. They are not a “church.” It is a scam. They go after anything that can get them in the news. This is a family of lawyers using this “god hates you” thing to make money. It is time for this scam and the hate to end.

I also belong to the PGR, and when I joined, it was specifically to prevent the WBC from disrespecting our fallen heros. The PGR is very much for the protection of the WBC to protest, we only believe it should not be allowed at the funerals of the fallen. there will always be folks like poppajoe49 that will try to take our efforts a step further and go beyond our mission. it is sad that we must include such folks and give them the right to say whatever they wish, on both sides of the fence, but let me assure you, poppajoe49 does not speak for the PGR, he only uses it as a stick to prop his shaky understanding of the constitution, in hopes to only allow those who do not disagree with his position to enjoy it’s protections.
the problem is and always has been, not the protesters or the ones who would stop them, but the local governments that issue permits that would allow confrontation of the 2 groups. While it is very important to preserve the rights of the WBC as well as all our citizens, it is not good policy to allow the protests to be held at the same location and time as the funerals.
But, I know my audience here, and am certain those blinded by hatred of the WBC ain’t gonna like to hear the truth.

Uh Phil, can you please show where I have said anything about taking PGR efforts beyond the stated mission? If you can’t, maybe you should STFU. I never said anything to that effect and never stepped out of line at any missions. My understanding of the Constitution isn’t shaky, but your interpretation of my posts sure is.
You seem to have the shaky understanding of the Constitution. The local governments have to issue the WBC permits to protest because of the Constitution, if they were to deny them, they would be subject to a lawsuit, and I’m sure the ACLU would be all too happy to bring it for them. Your solution to the confrontation is unconstitutional!

The law used to stick together (military and police.) I wish it could still be this way. Small town justice- if you to to handle it, you do and you know that no one will call the cops because you’re both antaganizing the situation. And its a hell of alot more satisfying to beat someones ass than to go to court for a restraining order or whatever the case may bring.

Sad that these people are even in the same proverbial boat with religion….they should be classified with the ACLU, KKK, and other nutcase groups that target people of faith. I think I might retire in this town…lots of ‘horse’ sense here!
