You can’t make this stuff up. Drudge reports that Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has decided to use Barack Obama’s “Yes We Can” slogan in his next presidential campaign.

Who knew Ahmadinejad was such a big fan of American political campaigns?

IHateTheMedia.com has discovered that Ahmadinejad’s campaign staff also looked into adapting slogans from several other American presidential campaigns before going with “Yes We Can.”

They considered using George Bush’s “Compassionate Conservatism” but thought the compassionate part might be a tough sell.

They thought about adapting Bill Clinton’s slogan but finally decided that “Building a bridge to the 13th century” wasn’t quite as catchy as “Building a bridge to the 21st century.”

Ronald Reagan said, “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” Ahmadinejad discovered that “Are you better off now than you were four hundred years ago?” didn’t test well in focus groups.

In 1960 Barry Goldwater’s slogan was “In Your Heart You Know He’s Right.” Ahmadinejad decided that “In Your Heart You Know He’s Nuts” was just too damn honest.

In the end, Ahmadinejad decided he wanted to be just like Obama so they went with the popular “Yes We Can.”

In other news, the Iranian leader announced that if Iran ever developed an auto industry, he would immediately nationalize it.
