Last week’s Anita Dunn headline was “White House escalates war on Fox News.” This week’s Anita Dunn headline is “White House admits: We ‘control’ news media.” The latter certainly goes a long way toward explaining the former.
Here’s how World Net Daily reports the story:
Anita Dunn, the White House Communications Director who declared war on Fox News, inadvertently revealed the truth behind the effort to silence the network. She says the Obama administration “controls” the media.
President Obama’s presidential campaign focused on “making” the news media cover certain issues while rarely communicating anything to the press unless it was “controlled,” White House Communications Director Anita Dunn disclosed to the Dominican government at a videotaped conference.
“Very rarely did we communicate through the press anything that we didn’t absolutely control,” said Dunn.
“One of the reasons we did so many of the David Plouffe videos was not just for our supporters, but also because it was a way for us to get our message out without having to actually talk to reporters,” said Dunn, referring to Plouffe, who was Obama’s chief campaign manager.
“We just put that out there and made them write what Plouffe had said as opposed to Plouffe doing an interview with a reporter. So it was very much we controlled it as opposed to the press controlled it,” Dunn said.
Continued Dunn: “Whether it was a David Plouffe video or an Obama speech, a huge part of our press strategy was focused on making the media cover what Obama was actually saying as opposed to why the campaign was saying it, what the tactic was. … Making the press cover what we were saying.”
Sure, Anita. Like you really had to twist the media’s arms to get positive coverage for Obama. And Fox, the only apparent voice of dissent in the country, must now be silenced because it cannot be controlled.
Is there still anyone out there who doesn’t find this administration frightening?

What do you want to bet one of her most admired people is Joseph Goebbels?
Obama is SOOO envious of the world’s dictators. IF ONLY he had the power to shut-down media shops that don’t cooperate, he could get something done. Don’t wonder anymore why he hangs out with those guys!!
What’s next? Full censorship, burning books, re-education camps for dissenters, cut down anyone who doesn’t agree with you? Can you say CHINA? Or STALIN?
Sometimes, I have a hard time realizing some of my closer friends still support this administration with no objects or questioning of his policies.. If it can get to these people who aren’t by any means uneducated or generally stupid, imagine what those idiots you see on American Idol think.
This. Is. Horrible.
“we don’t like to talk to reporters” This explanation of BHO’s plan to control the media message, should be an insult & wakeup call to any presstitute w/ a half a spine or an once of integrity! Welcome to ObamaNation ABC CBS MSNBC CNN NBC.
This is the same administration who jumped all over Glenn Beck for his offering a cardboard cutout of Nancy Pelosi ‘poisoned’ wine. What was the big deal? He was just being ironic. It’s not like he read a poem to one of his favorite mass murderers. This administration needs a nap badly.
ugly anita , we Are not IN VENEZUELA !!
Obama & the thugs he has brought in to oversee the media will try to take control over the airwaves & the internet. Be carefull & understand how they will do so, my guess, there will be a crisis of sorts that will damand that the gov’t come in & “stablize” the situation. Be on the lookout for anything that could be used, becausde if they can use it, they will.
Great point danybhoy! He will declare a “Media Information Crisis” and that we need the government to step in and save us poor ignorant souls. He can’t control FOX so he cryin’ to his beloved media. If he can shut down FOX; then he can start forming the death camps. Oh gee I forgot! He has already started working on that! Its called “Obama Health Care Reform.”
It would be absolutely perfect timing for Fox News to announce as true the rumor that Lou Dobbs is switching to FNC. Lou Dobbs is respected by the moderate left, middle, (and many on the right, like me). This would really hurt the White House’s attack.
Is that really out there or just some wishful thinking? I share your appreciation of Lou Dobbs. Maybe CNN can take Shepard Smith & a future draft choice.. (Shepard is the most uniformed talking-head & think of money Fox would save on makeup)
Here’s one of the stories on it:

Lou Dobbs’s Next Home: Fox Business?
By Brian Stelter
The anchor Lou Dobbs appears to be exploring an exit from CNN, his longtime employer.
Certainly, Fox continues to aggressively bolster its on-air talent, most recently with the hiring of John Stossel, the libertarian investigative journalist from ABC News, for its spin-off channel, Fox Business. Mr. Dobbs, an administration critic who calls himself an independent, met for dinner with Roger E. Ailes, the chairman of Fox News, last month, according to two people with direct knowledge of the meeting.
One of the people said Mr. Dobbs is a potential hire for the Fox Business Network, the ratings starved, two-year-old spin-off of Fox News. Mr. Ailes has shown willingness to raid other networks for Fox Business talent, adding the controversial radio host Don Imus this month and bringing aboard Mr. Stossel in a few weeks.
It is unclear whether Mr. Dobbs is seeking to leave CNN, and a network spokeswoman had no comment on Sunday. Mr. Dobbs has been with CNN since its founding (save for a two-year stint at an upstart Web site Space.com) and anchors the 7 p.m. hour “Lou Dobbs Tonight.” He has evolved over the years from a straight-laced business anchor to an outspoken commentator who rails against illegal immigration and taxpayer bailouts, among other subjects.
Mr. Dobbs clashed with others at CNN over the summer when he asked questions about President Obama’s citizenship.
But in an interview this year, Jonathan Klein, the president of CNN/U.S., said “Lou’s show is less about Lou’s opinion than ever.”
