Rand to Run! Stand with Rand?

George Will challenges Ted Cruz’s ‘theory’ for running:

Conservative columnist George Will says that Sen. Ted Cruz’s theory for running for the White House — that he can get “more votes from traditional Republican constituencies” — was “slain” by the outcome of the 1964 presidential race and simply doesn’t add up.

Leave it to George Will to recognize the wisdom of deferring to history without also recognizing the futility that exercise undertakes when it is the wrong history that is appealed to. This error is on full display when Mr. Will proffers the notion that the conservative Cruz cannot win in 2016 because the conservative Goldwater did not win in 1964. The election of 1964 was an anomaly with Barry Goldwater not so much running against Johnson as he was running against the nascent and manufactured realm of Camelot -had JFK been as popular in 1960 as he had been in 1964 there would not have been no need for Papa Joe to steal the election for his son. Due to this the proceedings of 1964 are nearly meaningless to us. Far more instructive are the lessons of ’80 and ’84 -when the sort of conservative Will warns us against won with historic landslides- and ’92, ’96, ’08 and ’12 when the “broadly appealing” soft liberal Republican candidate was defeated roundly and soundly.

Having said all that we are willing to concede that there is one candidate that could use Will’s formula of broad appeal to win. Ironically enough, though, if Rand Paul pulls it off it will not be because he is a modern Nelson Rockefeller but rather the modern day Barry Goldwater.

Al Gore: Anthropogenic Global Warming is Now Increasing Temperatures on the Sun “We all know that the planet has a fever. But now it turns out that it is far worse than we could ever have imagined. This fever is contagious. It has traversed the great darkness of space. It has traveled the unfathomable distance of 450 miles to settle on the surface of sun. It has now infected earth’s nearest neighbor. And if we don’t do something within ten years all of the sun’s solar ice caps will have melted and she will no longer be able to sustain the myriads of plant and animal lives that make the region so vitally important to our fragile cosmic ecosystem.”. So began former vice president Albert Gore Jr. in his address to the NYC chapter of the environmental action group People Establishing Nature In Society. The famously eloquent statesmen kept the audience in rapt attention for nearly three hours with an outlining of his solar warming theories, readings of his environmental poetry and heartwarming anecdotes about servants being made to wait in the car so that he could eat his dinner without the unsettling distraction of poor people.

During the QA session, however, it was clear that the sun wasn’t the only place heating up. An unknown individual challenged Gore. “The sun already has a surface temperature running into the millions of degrees. It doesn’t have ice caps nor does it serve as a habitat for any plants or animals.”. At this point member’s of Gore’s security firm tazed the man and removed him from the auditorium.

Gore remained calm and assured his audience telling them: “Liar, Liar, pants on fire, you’re just a Global Warming Denier. Seriously folks, no plants on the sun? Maybe someone should ask that flat-earther where he thinks sun flowers come from.”.

The engagement ended on a positive note with an audience member asking Gore what could be done to combat solar warming. “I’m glad you asked that. As it turns out back when I was in college, after I’d invented the Internet but before I’d served as Jason Statham’s stunt double in Love Story, I created a device that can be used to solve this very dilemma. The problem is the only fuel suitable to power this device is one trillion dollars worth in tax payer subsidies. Fortunately for all of us President Obama is working on getting me these subsidies as we speak.

Ian McKellen vs. Hotel Bibles McKellen comments on cutting up Gideon Bibles he comes across in hotels:

“I’m not proudly defacing the book,” he asserts, “but it’s a choice between removing that page and throwing away the whole Bible.
McKellen says his actions have inspired others to do the same. “I got delivered a package of 40 of those pages that had been torn out by a married couple I know. They put them on a bit of string so that I could hang it up in the bathroom.”

Using tolerance as the battering ram by which you smash books, excise thoughts and suppress opinion? Now that’s progressive!

Susan Sarandon Wants Andrew Jackson Replaced with a Woman on the $20 Bill

Why is former U.S. President Andrew Jackson still on the $20 bill, as opposed to suitable candidates like Rosa Parks, Betty Friedan, or Sojourner Truth?

If for no other reason Jackson deserves to be on the $20 bill because he ended the 2nd Bank of the United States in much the same way that the Federal Reserve should be ended now. But that isn’t to say that we aren’t entirely unsympathetic to the moonbat’s point of view. But instead let’s kick that arch-scoundrel, monarchist, mercantalist Alexander Hamilton off the ten note and replace him with Rosa Parks, Sojourner Truth or Ayn Rand.

US Declassifies Document Revealing Israel’s Nuclear Program: So long as Israel maintained a plausible deniability when it came to the bomb Iran could not claim their pursuit of the device was just to correct a defense disparity. Obama has given the Iranians a valuable bargaining chip in their quest for genocide of the Jews. Can there be any question as to why he has done this?

Jeb’s Talk Radio Problem:

Forget Meerkat and Snapchat. For the GOP front-runner, the medium that matters was invented in 1895.

If only Politico contributor Michael Kruse were smart enough to know that what was invented in 1895 was not talk radio but rather the transmission of data over electromagnetic waves (which incidentally proves useful to Meerkat, Snapchat and a lot of other things you do on a mobile device) he could have avoided writing an embarrassingly incorrect sentence that is, even more embarrassingly, the high-water mark of the article.
