How Liberals Became the New Book Banners: Do anything special for Banned Books Week? We didn’t either. Possibly because much of the outrage we encountered was directed at books being removed from required reading lists. And of course not demanding someone read a book is as much a ban on that book as privately obtainable abortoswag is a ban on itself. Looking a little deeper though we’ve found there are still plenty of people in favor of banning books, and deliciously enough they are quite often the same ones that spent last week celebrating their all too limited commitment to the cause of ending censorship.

We need a new constitution: Here’s how we save American democracy from charlatans, loudmouths and the 1 percent. Apparently they plan to do this by repealing those protections granted by the 1st and 13th Amendments and replacing them with public funded fail and the sort of regulation that instead of keeping a check on business keeps the checks going to them, well them most favored ones anyway.

New Cuban colognes honor Guevara and Chavez: Both the Guevara and Castro colognes are fresh, sharp and not so subtly totalitarian. Top notes include mint, rum and nuances of a boot stamping on a human face -forever. These quickly give way to heart notes of nutty almond mixed with equal parts of poverty and mass graves. The base is composed of musk, tobacco and genocide for dissidents, capitalists, Africans, Jews and homosexuals. Of the two Castro appears to have the greater longevity but Guevara can be described as more pungent, not unlike the smell coming from his short pants right before being sped along to his final reward.

Fed: US consumers have decided to ‘hoard money’

One of the great mysteries of the post-financial crisis world is why the U.S. has lacked inflation despite all the money being pumped into the economy.

The St. Louis Federal Reserve thinks it has the answer: A paper the central bank branch published this week blames the low level of money movement in large part on consumers and their “willingness to hoard money.”

The only great mystery involved with this notion that we are in a low inflationary period is why the myth persists despite all the evidence our grocery bills post to the contrary. The Fed, however, may be partially correct but not at all in the particulars. Savings does not amount to hoarding as the money in those accounts is constantly being invested and reinvested by way of providing capital to banks making loans. What does amount to hoarding is 80 billion dollars a month being created and then placed into the non consumer economy. To be sure inflation would be far worse were those funds directly injected into the general money supply. And that is something we will likely find out when the bubble bursts and we are all told that “nobody could possibly have seen this coming”.

NASA Climate Scientist Explains 15-Year ‘Global Warming Hiatus’: Too late. This expert already had the chance to establish credibility by predicting the event. Failure to do that confirms what we’ve always known. Their forecasts are never right and we would be monsters to implement the policies of death and destruction demanded by these cargo cult cretins.

Congress Rebukes SEC Investigation into Insider Trading: Apparently people in Congress, and those working for people in Congress, are up to the old trick of making money off of stock market fluctuations brought about by legislative intervention. Now there are two ways to deal with this problem. The first is to regulate the system and hope there is a full two week period in which no bypass to the regulation is formulated. The second is to cure the disease of business in politics by curing the even greater disease of politics in business. Fortunately there is no additional legislation needed for that cure. The founders provided it for us in Section Eight of Article One and all that is now required of us is to observe it. (H/T PoppaJoe49, thanks!)
