California’s Democrat Senator Barbara Boxer, may not be the brightest bulb in the box, but make no mistake, she’s a General Electric bulb through and through.

Her new Cap-and-Trade Climate Bill contains a provision that will repay General Electric for the lobbying and media promotion it conducted on behalf of climate legislation. And it will pay them handsomely.

Here’s how the Green Hell Blog reports it:

Section 821(c) requires that, by December 12, 2012, the EPA set standards for greenhouse gas emissions from “new aircraft and new engines used in new aircraft.”

General Electric is the world’s largest manufacturer of commercial and military jet engines, a business worth about $12 billion in annual revenues.
So the Boxer bill would compel airlines and the military, when purchasing new aircraft and new aircraft engines, to purchase more expensive “green” engines made by GE, according to standards set by the current and GE-lobbied Obama administration.

Keep in mind that GE CEO Jeff Immelt is member of President Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Council.

More evidence that GE’s political action committee (GEPAC) meant what it said in its August 19, 2009 e-mail to employees:

The intersection between GE’s interests and government action is clearer than ever.

Other payoffs to GE will likely be unconvered as Boxer’s bill virtually requires the purchase of other GE products including wind turbines, solar panels and water products.

This is nice. Some CEOs buy fancy corporate jets. Others buy big estates. And others buy world class art.

But it looks like General Electric’s Jeff Immelt bought himself a United States Senator.

preposterous and ridiculous.
Energy costs money. So does infrastructure, of course the purchase of new wind turbines and solar panels would have to be made – and if GE can make quality products at good prices – all the better, considering it’s an American company. Yall don’t lose any opportunity to slander anyone for your own agendas. Where were you – the writer of this blog – when Bush was over meeting with the Saudis and oil reached $140?
It’s sad we are so divisive that you use these cheap tactics to undermine the progress of this nation. Higher fuel-standarts –> Better engines, more engineering and design jobs, a more cometative America. But you would sacrifice all that.. for what?

… from an impartial source. I’m sure just because of partisan politics, you want Boeing to put in the 15% thirstier old generation engines in their product because it’s morally right.

So much for rewarding innovation a la Ayn Rand. Instead you take the position of “We want you to suspend thought and innovation so we can claim the moral victory.”
