Barone: Obama acts as America’s “shop steward in chief.” Obama’s partiality to unions is apparently rooted in a conviction that we would be better off if every employee were represented by a union. Unions are Obama’s and the Democrats’ economic dictatorship by proxy. In a fully-unionized America, business would require tacit Democrat approval on all decisions or risk crippling work stoppages until they toed the line.
