Begala calls Limbaugh “a corpulent drug addict”

February 1, 2009, 7:24 am · 10 comments

YouTube Preview ImageAfter former Maryland governor Michael Steele was named Republican National Committee chairman, CNN’s ever-pleasant Paul Begala said, “The real leader of the Republican Party in America today is a corpulent drug addict with an AM radio talk show, Rush Limbaugh.”

He continued by saying Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is “very bitter, and divisive,” that George W. Bush was a “spectacularly lazy president,” and “Obama is stylistically much more like Reagan.”

Then Begala said, “Look at the pretty birdies. I like the pretty birdies. The pretty birdies make me happy.” At which point his caretakers took him back to his nice, padded room.

Begala is another Clinton hack. He has very little to offer other than name calling.

Paul Begala, as always, is right on target. And he is not alone:

“The current G.O.P. acts as if it — and we — have all the time in the world. It kept hoping in vain that the fast-waning Blago sideshow would somehow impale Obama or Rahm Emanuel. It has come perilously close to wishing aloud that a terrorist attack will materialize to discredit Obama’s reversals of Bush policy on torture, military tribunals and Gitmo. The party’s sole consistent ambition is to play petty politics to gum up the works.

If anything, the Republican Congressional leadership seems to be emulating John McCain’s September stunt of “suspending” his campaign to “fix” the Wall Street meltdown. For all his bluster, McCain in the end had no fixes to offer and sat like a pet rock at the White House meeting on the crisis before capitulating to the bailout. His imitators likewise posture in public about their determination to take action, then do nothing while more and more Americans cry for help.

Gee Aaron, I don’t recall Begala calling his old boss, Bill Clinton, a cocaine snorting drug addict.

You seem to have some sort of powers to know what the GOP was thinking. How do you do that or do you just enjoy sounding foolish?

Petty politics? ANd what did the democrat party do while BUsh was in office. It seems they are playing the payback card while the country suffers through a financial crisis of their making.

If Rush Limbaugh was the leader of the GOP, John McCain would never have been the nominee!

Rush Limbaugh is a fat gasbag of a drug addict who deserved jail time for his addiction. He also gets far too much attention and needs to shut the hell up. We Moderate Republicans reject his B.S. and his traitorous comments about President Obama, who won fair and square and deserves the support of every American at this point. If Barrack fails, then we all fail. It’s down to the wire folks.

Budda Magoo, THANK YOU for your thoughtful input. I’m a former Democract, but after I saw Perot in action in ‘92 I became an Independent. I consider myself a “moderate”, and truly appreciate members of BOTH the democratic and republican parties trying to maintain open, sensible and constructive dialogue, as this is the only way we will EVER be able to fix the mess this country is in. If only both parties could stick to the facts, compromise to a fault in benefitting the MAJORITY of the country while leaving religion out of it. AND this includes the devisive slogan on the bus which may be amusing, but serves only to amuse or to chafe!
