As a brash young creative I once exclaimed to a client during a presentation that could have ‘gone better’: ‘Oh no, you are not understanding the concept’.
He reached across the table, patted me on the arm and said, ‘No son, you simply are not explaining it well enough for me to be convinced’.
On top of a bunch of other interesting twists on conventional wisdom, we now seem to have a plethora of folk in high office (and the media) who have convinced themselves that their inability to persuade is nothing to do with them or their arguments, and all to do with those they have forgotten they merely represent, not rule.
With luck, we still might retain opportunities to disabuse them of such notions.
But one can still be pretty certain that, even when this happens, it will not be their fault.

A simple test for Biden (no jokes):
If you are really intelligent you should be able to communicate your concepts and knowledge to a range of groups each possessing different level of comprehension abilities and get your salient points across clearly in each case. Otherwise you do not really know, yourself, what the hell you profess to talk about.
Like if someone asks the expect what is the difference between an LED, an incandescent and a CFL bulb is. Should the expert say “That is beyond your mere comprehension. It involves concepts like ballast, substrates, photons and other matters. I can only talk to an electric or a physicist about how such devices work and their differences.”
In that case the expert does not know what the f*ck he is really talking about; he does not know his own information and facts that well.
If he said “How I’d discuss such a topic with a scientist or electrical professional would be different then how I talk with you. Here is an overview though: The first uses a set of crystals, not unlike you find in a computer chip or solar panel, that has electricity flow through them. There is a gap between these crystals and that gap lets light escape. The second uses a special wire that gets very hot when electric flows and that heat makes light. He can talk to you in clear form and well as talk to those with more nuanced and technical knowledge of the subject.

If Obama really wants to be like Jesus he has a lot of learning to do. Jesus did know how to bring BIG complicated themes and concepts down to size to fit the audience He was talking to. Even people that do not believe He was a deity do admit that He was a genius for the ability to do that. Also He didn’t do it in an arrogant “I am smarter than you” way either. No amount of Photoshopping with halos and crosses is going to bring Obama to that level of genius. If he cannot express ideas in ways that attracts and explains them at the level that lay people if you will would understand, without arrogance and misplaced self confidence, then Obamy and his minions should stop trying to ram something they have no idea what they are doing through other people’s throats. If they cannot simplify it then scrap it and start from scratch. What is the rush? If he is so confident of another term again… what is the rush?
