Bill Maher wants President Obama to repeal “don’t ask, don’t tell” regulations just to drive the right wing crazy.
But who are we to paraphrase Maher’s brilliance. Let’s have him explain it in his own words:
“Because here’s the thing about today’s conservatives: They’re not bright. They can’t keep a lot of ideas in their head at once. And by ‘a lot’ I mean ‘two.’ If we can get them all worked up about fighting the gay menace, it will siphon away all that crazy, right wing, town-hall energy from all the other big issues they’ve been fighting.”
Then Bill went what we politely refer to as totally off the deep end.
“Health care and the environment are complicated, but it’s not hard to keep track of the places that God allows you to put your pee-pee. I mean, you can count those places on one hand. And that hand isn’t something you should be using either. A year ago, if you had asked your average wing-nut neighbor what he thought about health care reform, he would have shrugged his shoulders and gone right back to eating his Moon Pie. But he’s pissed-off about it now, why? Because it’s in their nature to be pissed-off. They have a pre-existing condition called the Conniption Fits. The tea-baggers have taught us all an important lesson in modern politics: If you want to be taken seriously, act like a fucking loony-tune.”
Under the circumstances, Bill, we take you very, very seriously.

Talk about an arrogant prick. Or should I say arrogant pee-pee?
Maher misses the point that it is our nature to be free, and when our freedom and liberty are threatened we respond in kind. I couldn’t care less about gay rights activism. It doesn’t get me riled up, and it doesn’t change a thing about how I live. However, the socialist nature that our government shows in areas like healthcare reform and the green movement beg for my attention. The solution we want is less government, more indivual freedom. What’s so crazy about that?

I don’t know what happened to Bill Maher; he used to be a fairly sane libertarian. Now he seems to have jumped the shark. I don’t care about gays in the military. I think that if the say they’re gay, everyone will learn to accept it, just like everyone learned to accept women and blacks in the military. Health care reform is something else again. Most Americans like their health care they have now.. Yes, there are horror stories but you hear horror stories from Canadiens, French and British people. Don’t get me started on Climate change. The science is very shaky and the whole hysteria is uncalled for. I wonder what happened to Bill.
Maher says the environment is complicated. But, libs like him think that climate change can magically be resolved by using different light bulbs, eliminating 2 ply toliet paper, or driving electric cars.
Bill doesn’t understand, our nature is to be pessimistic when it comes to government and its’ promises. Liberals also don’t understand why we aren’t brained washed like them, it just pisses them off that we don’t need the “collective” to tell us what to say and do.
Exactly what I am talking about. These tiny-minded individuals don’t want to have to scratch out a living themselves. They want to be able to lay their heads on their government-issued down filled pillows in their modest three bedroom brick ranch that is owned by the government and not have to worry about a thing.
The one thing libs miss is the lesson my dad taught me 30 years ago: “Life ain’t easy. Get used to it”…

Bill Maher is completely insane. No one with a modicum of intelligence would give him the time of day. He was not funny as a comedian, he is not interesting as a wouldbe pundit, he is not entertaining, and I don’t understand why HBO continues to support his inanity.
He can always do like Franken did and run for public office.
Hell, if you suck as a comedian you would probably get elected to Congress easily.

If “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” is repealed, then the gays will be treated like all other soldiers…right? So, they can be kicked out of the service for being gay – or, at least, for any other reason – and the armed services won’t have to fear being sued for firing them because they’re gay…right? Because they won’t be a special protected class anymore.
You don’t get it, do you, Mia? No, they would have to be treated like any other member of the military and trumped-up charges won’t pass muster. In other words, one’s sexual orientation would no longer be an acceptable reason to kick out otherwise capable troops.
Do you know how many interpreters the military lost due to the DADT policy? Enough to hinder interrogations and maybe cost U.S. lives, for sure. I would rather some gay person was getting information that would help us than watch all that training go down the tubes because some redneck thinks he’s so hot, the gay guys are lining up to rape him.
I must profess I am ignorant of the number of interpreters the military lost because of DADT and how that loss hindered the interrogations that may have cost U.S. lives. Please enlighten me.

I used to watch Bill’s show every week, but now he has just gone so far away from were he came from it is insane. I guess when the ratings go down you have to go a little crazy acting to try and get people to watch his circus he puts on. Because when he just talks, I don’t really want to listen anymore to his rant because he does not talk facts, he talks show biz left and is blind to all other FACTS.
It is amazing when Bill has a right winger on his show and brings FACTS to bill and bill just goes off and never ever excepts FACTS, interesting don’t you think.

Bill you are a funny comedian, stick to what brought you to the game, because you are not a very smart debater.
Bill takes himself too seriously, he thinks he should matter, & really does’nt any more. As long as he stays on the guest list at the Playboy mansion, he should be happy. But he’s not, & it is because he’s an angry lib/progressive. Is there really any other kind of lib/progressive? They all seem to be very angry, despite the fact that they control almost all gov’t.
Bill is funny as hell. I loved his on film rant about religion (if you care BTW I do believe in God). Still the fact that he can make fun of others who oppose his viewpoint and can make a good joke now and again does not cover up his lack of reason when it comes to modern issues. He is a joke teller and not a strategist.
I don’t agree with any of his conclusions on the issues he addresses nor his proposed solutions. I take him as seriously as I do Jimmy Fallon.
I admire Bill’s courage for staying in the Playboy Mansion. To stick around and be that close to Hef when Hef is walking about with his Viagra induced hard on late at night is an act of bravery. DADT about that… Yikes!
