Here at I Hate The Media, we know a thing or two about advertising. Like, for example, we know a great commercial when we see it.
NBC has rejected a Super Bowl commercial created by a Catholic advocacy group. The ad, which can be seen here (to the left) is simple, riveting, and features a surprise twist. Consider it proof that a great commercial doesn’t have to cost millions of dollars.
No matter what position you take on the abortion issue, this commercial is a simple, powerful piece of communication.
Watch it.

Only a hateful person would refuse to run this ad.
I know it sounds flip, but I would rather see the Super Bowl ads remain free of politics, since if NBC ran this they would also have to allow Pro-Choice ads and very quickly every group would want in so you’d have a mess of ‘advocacy’ ruining the celebration of healthy competition.
This is a stupid comercial because it doesnt make a solid point. So that fetus turned into barack obama, it could have just as easily been the next hitler. This type of argument commits one of the fallacies of logic which automatically makes it an invalid point.
I do agree that commercials with VERY POINTED agendas like these should probably be played away from entertainment venues like the Super Bowl, however it is a brilliant commercial.
The point of the commercial is that with all the love that people had for this guy and all the promise he had, he could have very easily been aborted. He fits the profile and the “excuses” that people (men and women) provide as facts that support their reasoning about abortion. If a woman is single and a baby is a problem instead of being “punished” perhaps she should abort. If his Mom had thought that way then no Barack.
Who knows the types of people that the aborted babies could have become had they had a chance. So one has to think about the millions of aborted babies and THEIR promise and THEIR ability to impact change. Yes the world would probably have been a better one if people like Stalin, Mao, Chavez, Castro, etc were never born, but since we as humans do not have the ability to know the future isn’t it better to err on the side of life? For every evil person I do believe there are more people who are not evil like that.
