Today’s culprit is freedom of speech, or at least the speech of the American right and its broadcast cheerleaders. Shock-jock radio presenters feed on biased television news to present a view of the world divided between goodies and baddies. The baddies are always on the brink of victory and must be confronted with virile aggression. Language that might not disturb a balanced mind can clearly stimulate and legitimise an unbalanced one.
Seriously, Mr. Jenkins, if you are looking to save this country from people who have the nerve to express a opinion different from yours, then perhaps you’d be interested in joining a new organization called Friends Against Speech Crime In Society Today.
It meets weekly in Keith Olberman’s mother’s basement to discuss how free will and personal choice have become dangerous to our democracy. Members also discuss how best to silence dissenters and make sure that actions undertaken by the individual do not diverge from the larger will of the all mighty community. You’re guaranteed to have a goose-stepping good time!

This clown isn’t taken seriously anywhere in Britain, outside the cave where they print the Grauniad. As editor of The Times, I rather recall that he presided over a decline in its circulation, although, it has to be said, most other editors of The Times have also seen sales figures shrink (not altogether surprising, since it’s c**p). What makes Jenkins special, though, is that he has brought his Personal Touch of Death to every newspaper he has worked on. Please, “Sir” Simon, once you have killed the Grauniad, can you get a job at the Mirror?

Alas, he’s one of many British wankers, a large proportion of whom are members of the press, or members of parliament, of all persuasions. Of the current governmental encumbents, apart from Cameron (who should know better), idiots like Chris Huhne and Tim Yeo are amongst the leaders of the idiocy stakes.
If they had their way, there would be so many windmills on the sceptred Isle, that the whole thing will propel itself with the prevailing wind. Luckily, the prevailing wind is westerly, so you yanks will be spared, but sooner or later the Former UK will wash up on the shores of Europe, where it seems to want to belong, and politically does so already.
