Boris Borisov conservative wins Bulgaria Election

Boris Borisov, the new leader of Bulgaria, was once a bodyguard. He was never a community organizer.

The official results are now in and Bulgaria’s right-wing opposition party has swept Sunday’s vote by a wide margin over the corrupt Socialist coalition.

Despite their cumbersome name, the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria Party – led by Sofia Mayor Boiko Borisov – walked away with 39.7% of the vote.

The Socialists finished a distant second with just 17.7% of the vote. The Turkish MRF party took 14.5%. The ultra-nationalist Attack Party had 9.4% and the right-wing Blue Coalition had 6.7%.

“This is a serious victory for the right-wing parties,” said a spokesman for the Blue Coalition. “It is the big comeback of the rightist parties and a considerable punishing vote for the incumbent coalition.”

Europe is racing to the right. Obama is racing to the left. Somebody’s way off course and we’re pretty sure we know who it is.

How will Dear Leader respond if the losing 60% of voters take to the streets to protest this outcome? And more importantly, where was ACORN on this, how did they allow this to happen? Doesn’t Jimmy Carter go to these events to make sure they come out right?

Well don’t worry, they are there. The socialist party have big Democratic support. Socialist leader and ex-premier Sergei Stanishev’s first job, when he got elected, was to meet with democratic leadership “for professional experience exchange”. Borisov’s conservative party however is leaning toward EU and USA right.
