California police chief: The idea that a gun is a defensive weapon is a ‘myth.’ Well then, we suggest the Chief and the entire Emeryville PD sell all their guns at the next gun buy back in Oakland. From the sounds of it, about anything will boggle this asshole’s mind. If you look here and type in Gunfire or Gunfire Accidental and put in Emeryville, California nothing comes up from 1791 to 2013. If you type in Oakland or San Francisco it does list officers. H/T to sifi.

Emeryville. Situated in a small are between Oakland and San Francisco. So it’s no surprise when an idiot like this speaks out.

I looked it up for the heck of it. Pop. 10,000 and change, the place is 2.010 sq mi, of which only 1.246 sq mi is land, the rest water. Pffftttt.

Emeryville is where the PIXAR studios are. Someone should tell them that one of their toon characters has escaped and is claiming to be a real policeman.

This is what happens when an ass kisser rises up through the ranks and sells their sole to the devil. This poor excuse of a Chief of Police is a so full of shit that his eyes must be brown from all of it backed up in him.
So the next time someone uses a weapon to defend him or her self against a person bent on doing evil, will dumb ass chief of police come out and admit he was wrong. If a gun is a defensive myth, he should be the first one to turn his in and then go out on patrol in one of the rougher neighborhoods. I suggest that he park his cruiser and walk the whole area stopping at every corner to say hi and chat with the folks.

It’s one of those idiots from the touchy feely Bay Area…That explains that. Plus that entire bay area is libturd land….I have met many cops who worked in the bay area who left because their departments would treat you like shit and the suspects would get better treatment. One would fire you for swearing..Now I have been know to use colorful metaphors when talking with someone who deserved it….Not one complaint in 23 years…I would not function well in the Bay Area. As for Emeryville, it’s that little wet spot net to the Bay Bridge.

The equivalent of the wet spot on the sheet, we all know it’s there, but nobody wants to be in it.

There is something about that area. Seriously. My sister lives there and she is one of the most stubborn libtards ever. And she is so incredibly SMART. But she is insulated by the millions of people she is surrounded by.
She can’t HEAR what Middle America is saying because they have been mocked so strongly that to even listen to them is offensive. She is full of misinformation that she believes is the truth, because it has been told to her over and over. SHE reads as much as I do, but she doesn’t read both sides. Because she has little access to the other side, other than Fox (which is also mocked). The “conservative” sites she gets directed to from HER sites lead to stuff from paranoid extremists. So that is what she sees as the opposite of “her” side.
And the thing is, she believes in her heart that she truly believes in her values. That they are her own. That she has not been influence by the people around her. And I just don’t get that. We were raised in the same home. Our parents were essentially libertarian (before it was ever an official “thing”). We were taught that racism is bad, that working hard is good, that helping others is required, and that a healthy skepticism of authority is a necessary tool in life’s arsenal. There is nothing that could ever have taught her that GOVERNMENT should take everything and distribute it as they see fit.
So, clearly, the influence of where she lives is high on the list of suspects as to why she things as she does. Sad.

Well, as one of the few conservatives here in glorious Baghdad by the Bay, I can attest to the wacky and sometimes downright stupid opinions that pass for conventional wisdom. And when you effectively live in a one newspaper city, the echo chamber is enormous.
And the arrogance is beyond the pale. Anyone who might hail from east or south of the Bay Area (Central Valley, etc.) well, you’re a hopeless rube clinging to your guns and religion. That somehow, those who believe that one’s nudity is best indulged when behind closed doors rather than on the street are bigots and bullies.
But, it was interesting that those who turned out on a cold and windy Saturday to mock all of us during the March for Life were vastly outnumbered and spent most of their time protesting an unendorsed pro-life display near Union Square. Even funnier, when confronted with a group of marchers under the banner “Atheists for Life” they didn’t know what to do.

I can’t take credit for that. It comes courtesy of Mr. Herb Caen, late and great columnist for the Chronicle when it was still a quality paper with competition.

LOL We did the wine thing in November. There’s at least one guy up there who loves to throw liberals out of his tasting room and can’t stand Nancy Pelosi. He had us cracking up. Needless to say be bought a lot of stuff from him and will revisit his winery every time we’re up that way. To protect the innocent I’m not saying who this is or he’ll get and IRS audit and a visit from the Pelosi Gestapo.

So many are enamored of Napa but I could never understand it. I prefer Sonoma wines instead, and Sonoma in general. A touch precious but for the most part a basic working town similar to Petaluma.
I tend not to fly my “freak flag” in this town unless I’m among fellow sympathizers. There are some but we tend to keep our heads down.

I prefer Sonoma, too. However, when you have out of state visitors they all want to go to Napa. The other good thing about this day trip was Buster’s BBQ in Calistoga. Good stuff.

If guns are not defensive, then logically guns are only offensive. So, if taken away from those who might use guns defensively, logically only the offensive minded would be in possession, like this hairlip, and, once again, all those who don’t give a rat’s patoot about effing gun laws.

So this buffoon is saying there is no need for cops to carry guns since they are of no use in defending ones self. Then according to him, the only reason he, even as a cop, would carry a gun is to just wantonly kill someone if he gets the urge.
I agree with DeepThinker. This is an idiot that asskissed his way through the ranks. Lets see him out on the street in a shitty neighborhood walking around. I’ll bet he’d throw one of his coppers under the bus in a second to save his own ass. Usually that is common for big city chief, a politician first. Law enforcement leadership, not so much.

No, according to him, it’s to intimidate, and show power. Well, that’s the way I used mine in apprehending a thief stealing my truck. But if he’d decided to get aggressive with me, then the gun would have been used as a defensive tool.

I believe what liberals/progressives lack most is common sense. Most have gobs of book knowledge but when it comes to basic truths of life, like our source of freedom, they are blinded by the worldly wisdom of liberalism and the progressive movement.

I’ve often pictured, in my mind, confronting an armed burglar with a compound bow, with a nice razorhead arrow nocked, aimed at his chest. “Go ahead, shoot me.” I know, silly. But still fun to think about.

Does he mean that “peace officers” carry offensive weapons and he looks for a gun fight every time he wears one. There is a distinct possibility he drinks cool aide, or was born in the wrong century. He belongs in the 19th century, around 1875.
What a Ducking Fummy!
