“Cash for Clunkers” worked perfectly. You just have to assume it had nothing to do with the environment or helping poor people and everything to do with vote buying and giving the Democrat operative media a chance to whip the Republican opposition. We need to give these people more credit. As political gangsters, they rock.

Not to mention that I personally know a German national and a Pakistani national that took advantage of it, so even non citizens got the tax break.
Too bad they were not too smart and bought a Chevy Aveo!

C for C only had to do with pulling retail car sales forward thus helping the UAW and other labor unions. The consequences were only a surprise to economic illiterates.
