Cash-strapped NY county goes after school districts with “toilet tax.” NY’s Nassau county is levying a “sewer use fee” against public school districts, including one that has a septic system. The districts will pass the cost along to local taxpayers but they would rather utilize that source of OPM themselves: “For us, it’s a large amount of money. It’s like a teacher salary.” When times are tough, the pols will even eat their own.

There is absolutely NOTHING a Democrat will not tax – yet, if passed, that same Democrat will NEVER pay that tax.

Has a Democrat ever met a tax he/she did not like???? **crickets chirpin**

Interesting so… uhm… say no to food for the poor, but yes to poopy taxes. Hey why dont they do poopy taxes on OWS? Gold Mine!!!!

I lived in Nassau County during the 50s and 60s; back then Nassau was one of the wealthiest counties in the United States and the fastest growing; it was a great place to grow up. But now it’s a fiscal train wreck with a high unmplyment rate and a shrinking industrial base. Nassau County is in New York State which is also a fiscal train wreck. It’s the result of liberal overspending by both Democrats and Republicans (Nelson Rockefeller was governor of the state in the early 60s). The county and the state can no longer afford their overpaid, over pensioned public employees or the generous welfare benefits they provide. Meanwhile, many college graduates, higher income people and retirees are moving out (I did, 25 years ago).

New York, like California and Illinois, is sliding into political and fiscal bankruptcy.

Maybe governments could raise some cash by putting ‘Political Cannibalism’ on pay-per-view. I might consider taking cable just be able to watch Nanny Bloomberg and Chuckie Schumer chow down on each other.

Reminds me of NJ when Jim Florio was Governor. He put sales tax on paper products previously untaxed. There were cries from around the state because toilet paper was included in that tax.
BTW Florio, like Carter and hopefully Obama, was a one term leader.
