1966: Season’s Greetings

2009: Frosty the Inappropriate Snowman

We believe it’s important to sit back during at this time of year and reflect upon the meaning of the holiday season. And, of course, to reflect upon why we hate the media.

CBS, the network that once proudly called itself “The Tiffany Network” has done everything possible to tarnish its reputation over the last 43 years. And nothing demonstrates that more clearly than the contrast between the simple, classic Christmas promo it produced in 1966 to the tacky one it produced this year.

Who the hell thought it would be a good idea to put the adult content of “How I Met Your Mother” with the classic children’s images of “Frosty the Snowman?”

Merry Christmas, indeed.

Someone thought the Frosty segment was funny? Guess I am out of touch – and I plan on staying that way. Another good reason we have a DVR and only watch recorded shows sans commercials.

Happy Birthday Jesus, and Merry Christmas to all – I have some chores to do and may not be back before tomorrow.

Yeah, this is why I don’t watch TV anymore.

The first one is simple, cute, leaves you with a bit of a “feel good”.

The second one isn’t even funny.

I cannot see the videos…

Yeah this was on Fox. And there was another one with Mrs. Claus cheating on her husband now this is secular so it shouldn’t bother me that much, but it is indicative of the toilet that we are slowly and surely being packed into.

I thought it was funny, actually. But it was not appropriate for a seasonal message or whatever. If it had been part of a HIMYM episode, then it would have been fine. But as a “Christmas promo,” something like the 1966 promo is vastly more appropriate.

Not even remotely entertaining and completely disgusting. This is why I don’t even watch TV anymore. You got “holiday promos” like this, and every other show on Nickelodeon being about a group of idiots, followed by the “cartoons” on Disney. Well, not EVERYTHING on Disney is bad. There’s Phineas and Ferb.

Now I’m just getting off topic. If this is the result of “progress”, then I want no part in it.

I honestly didn’t know CBS was on the air!

On a serious note-Merry Christmas to all of you true Americans…..here’s hoping that we can oust this obimbo regime in 2010 and change the face of the entire Congress too! May you all have prosperous, safe, and content-filled new years!

I wonder if this ‘new‘ Frosty the Snowman is in part inspired by Charlie Sheen?
