How is the census bureau pounding money down a rat hole? Let us count the ways.

Census 2010

We're 3000% sure the Census Bureau is pissing away your tax dollars

We never expect much from an government agency. In fact, when it comes to the Census Bureau, we’re just hoping it’s better at counting people than it is at counting money.

Fox News tells the tale of incomparable counting incompetence:

The U.S. Census is well into conducting its constitutionally mandated 2010 count but the exercise is already running over budget.

Taxpayers are footing the bill of $14.7 billion for 10 years of Census counting. That price tag supports 500 local offices and a peak staff of 1.4 million workers.

But some cost overruns have already plagued this Census, like when tens of thousands of workers fanned out between March and July of last year to verify addresses — a process known as “address canvassing.” The Census Bureau, federal auditors later found, ran 25 percent over budget for a total cost of $444 million.

“When I arrived in July, the findings of that overrun were just emerging,” Census Director Robert Groves said. “There was an underestimation of just the workload — how many houses we had to go to.”

Auditors also found the Census Bureau provided training to some 15,000 workers who either worked not at all or less than a single day — at a total cost of $5.5 million.

It was either that or 5.5 million workers at a cost of $15,000. The Census Bureau isn’t sure which.

Being a patriotic American, I have completed my form and returned it. I responded to exactly three questions. How may living in the home? – 2, Race of person 1? – American Taxpayer, and Race of person 2? – American Taxpayer. Since it seemed to be repetitive at that point, I licked the envelope and took advantage of the permit paid postage. (Which I paid for as and American Taxpayer) See, it doesn’t take too much time, and can be fun too!

OH, Oh, oh, almost forgot – a week before the big form arrived we received a warning letter telling us the big form would arrive in a week. Such efficiency!

Oh, Dee … you apparently missed that the form wasn’t to be mailed back until after April 2nd at the earliest. It asks ‘How many people WERE at this address on April 1, 2010?’ Shall we throw a massive party to invalidate the count?

After looking at my form I am convinced the purpose of the census is to determine how many Hispanics are in the US.

Well I got it and I sent it I dont give a crap if I was supposed to wait until after april the first. I am not feeling the whole race thing nor do I like the unnecessary identity information. They say it is safe, I don’t know if that is true. I cannot trust Big Brother. I dont know who is reading that information nor in what computer database it is going in. It is very creepy and uncomfortable.

I moved to TX about 3 years ago and found that the Census sends people out to get information from you. This includes income. Last year we were randomly selected, so they say. Oh, did I forget this year too. My father in-law is a lawyer and stood there with me as I told the lady I did not want to participate, since she did in fact disclosed that is was voluntary. So why the f–k did she just knock on my door again?
Well I hit her with a form I found online about Public Servant’s. I will have to get back to you all to let you know if she in fact filled it out. I did highlight the part where is states” Do not Leave any question blank”. Do They really think we have the time for there bull shit?
