Chicago Tribune: Burris is scurrilous, must go as quickly as he arrived

February 21, 2009, 5:00 am · 2 comments

The Chicago Tribune has risen up in righteous indignation and demanded the resignation of recently-appointed Senator Roland Burris.

Seems the Trib is shocked to find out that there are crooked politicians in Illinois, despite a hundred year history of crooked politicians in Illinois.

“Disgraceful,” the Tribune said. “Disgraceful all around.
There’s only one honorable action for Burris: resign.
Strip this whole wretched process out of the hands of the politicians and give it back to the people.”

But the best part is that the Tribune’s editorial jumps all over Illinois’ Democratic leaders because they sat on the damaging Burris’ testimony for more than a week.

Looks like the country really got lucky. Because our new president is apparently the only honest politician in the entire state of Illinois.

What are the odds?

I, Mandible Claw, hereby predict that more and more traditionally in-the-tank Democrat papers will, in the next few months, begin doing this sort of actual editorializing and reporting on Democrat corruption as they try desperately to attract enough new readers to keep themselves above water.

And hey – there’s no reason it shouldn’t work, if it happens. How ironic would it be if the financial conditions marked the turning point away from rabid pro-Democrat bias in the U.S.’ newspapers — right from the start of the Obama government they played such a huge part in installing?

From your mandible to the editors’ keyboard. I am not as optimistic but it’s a nice thought
