It’s hard to imagine how far and how fast CNN has fallen on hard times.

The former number one cable news network – the people who invented the business – dropped out of the top 30 prime time cable networks during the last week of October.

As Mediaite explains it:

For the first time in more than two years, CNN fell out of the top 30 cable channels last week in prime time (total viewers). Fox News ranked 3rd, behind USA and ESPN, while MSNBC was 26th. It was the 43rd consecutive week Fox News finished in the top 5 cable channels in prime time.

In total day, FNC was #5, CNN #27 and MSNBC #31.

To rub a little salt in the wound, CNN finished fourth among cable news networks on election night.

Correction: Make that a lot of salt.

I was too busy watching Animal Planet & Fox Soccer Channel to tune into CNN. Dogs 101 & English Soccer are better then Rick Sanchez, Wolf Blitzer, & the resident drunk Jack Cafferty.

What was that Springsteen song “67 channels and nothing on”?
Well there is a lot on these days, so sadly (not really) the crap news networks have to slip down on the charts. Hey, CNN will forever have the captive audience of those stuck in airports and selected bus terminals. Cheer up CNN, that counts for something… That or someone in the terminal might have one of those wrist watches that is a universal TV remote and can shut the TV off.
