castro-school-field-trip

Who could pass up a chance to see the delightful old mass murdering despot one more time before he dies?

When your best defense is “I’m a communist,” you know things aren’t going to go well.

The Wall Street Journal has the tale of the turncoat teacher and the felonious field trip:

A former New York City schoolteacher has been banned from returning to the school system for taking students on a field trip to Cuba, officials said Tuesday.

After a three-year investigation, the New York City special investigator for schools released a report saying Nathan Turner ignored instructions not to go to Cuba and potentially exposed students to civil and criminal penalties.

Mr. Turner took a group of students from Manhattan’s Beacon High School to Cuba in 2007 after New York’s Department of Education and the school’s principal told him to cancel the trip because of a travel ban in place by the U.S. government.

The report said Mr. Turner told the school’s principal that he was a Communist and that he had to go to Cuba “to see Castro one more time before he died.”

Come west, Mr. Turner. You resume sounds perfect for California’s school system.

WTF! Where were the parents? What parent would pay for such a trip? My kids would have stayed home.

I am thinking that either the parents didn’t know (he asked the kids to lie) or the parents were idiots, or the parents were liberal fools and they didn’t care. I don’t think though that kids would want to go to Cuba of all places when there would be far better places to go it would be strange to me if the kids actually wanted to go. I have to figure out if these kids and parents are legal immigrants as well. Something is too weird about this whole thing. Was this a plane ride or what? American citizens are not allowed to go a lot of weird stuff going on here.

Yes, the teachers are very even-handed in their thinking.

What Mr. Turner didn’t realize is that Fidel died in 2006. The guy in the Jumpsuit is a Doppelganger.

If communism is what you want, then move to a communist country. Let me know how it works out for you.

I have a feeling the State or City of New York paid for this crap. Three year investigation -how much did that cost – teacher probaly resigned in lieu of firing so he still gets huge pension. Answer to ques re parents – parents are all skells from ghetto who don’t care about kids education. These parents are the type of people who are would be in La Raza if this was California.Just a thought – why do we need municipal unions anyway?

Why do we need unions period? That era in history has passed. Like any organization formed to combat a social evil, in the end they always become worse than the thing they were founded to protect people against. As a 20 year veteran of union membership all I can say about unions are that they promote mediocrity in the labor force, deny members benefits whenever they can, ration out work from the union halls to their pet shills, and the “made” officials are the only ones who benefit from promoting their Marxist “values”, while living like some turn of the century Rockefeller. My union supported every Dumbocrat candidate that came down the line even though they knew that with those administrations the work always dried up to nothing. Why should the officials care? They are living off the members dues and it matters little to them if the members can support themselves as long as they keep paying the dues… Meanwhile a member who hasn’t worked in a year gets bumped from the seniority list in favor of some indoctrinated shill they brought in form Honduras, Yemen, or the P.I. I’ll wager not many of you knew that unions “sponsor” foreign laborers to get them citizenship then turn around and use non-union labor to do their dirty work because it’s cheaper than hiring union shills… Sounds just like the same mentality of another bunch of self serving @ss-holes currently running the country. Do away with all unions and special interest groups and we will have made a great step forward in recovering the nation.

Necron I agree with you but I also disagree. I worked with a union company for 3 years, 2 of those years I was a shop steward. This company would try every dirty trick in the book to cut costs by stepping on its employes. And if it wasn’t for the union alot of overtime would not have been paid, alot of employees would have lost hours because management deemed it was cheaper to send them home and have salaried management do their work. Maybe it was just where I worked but our management pretty much said “Screw the union we are going to do what we want just try to stop us”. Now the union couldn’t stop a bunch of us from getting laid off but they did what they could.

Al, I work for a BIG LABOR union that pretty much has a monopoly on it’s job market. The companies I worked for are always trying to do what they can to help the good hard working employees because they know the union is loaded with dirt-bags. Every contract negotiation the companys offered to boost employee pay, but the union shot it down in favor of “cost of living”, in other words, 7.5% was offered, but the union refused in favor of 3%. And to make matters worse, because the union is self-insured, they were pushing hard for Obama-care so they could pocket the cash we pay in for health-care and dump us on the system as “wards of the state”. Sorry for disagreeing Al, but my experience in 20 years of membership has been less than inspiring.

I worked for UPS and the Teamsters. UPS tried every trick in the book to keep us down but the Teamsters were always there to back us up. UPS a few years ago tried to stop us from getting our contractually obligated raises and the Teamsters threatened to strike but in the end UPS caved. One of the proudest moments of my life.

I’m glad the Teamsters did something for you Al. My oldest brother worked for a company that voted in the union. Six months later the company had to shut down his plant because the union made it impossible for the company to hire good employees… production ground to a stand still when all the union people could do was urge employees to “slow down”. The UAW did nothing for my two step-brothers other than cut benefits, cut jobs, deny retirement funds, and short them pay for months they could have been working while the union boss’s went to $5,000 a plate dinners for Dumbocrat candidates & lobbyists. My union did the same. I am currently seeking employment in a “union free” environment. And by the way, I’m a Shop Steward as well, and the proudest moment of my career was when the company rep told me, “It would be great if all the members of the union were as competent and worked as hard as you do.” I still say we don’t need unions, just motivated employees who take pride in their work. What we have is an army of stooges who hide behind the “protection” of the union. If I had a dollar for every time I heard a “union brother” tell me, “I get paid by the day, not by how much I get done. & That ain’t my job.” I could retire and live off the interest.

Some unions are more corrupt than others, obviously. I am a 30+ year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, and my union has done a lot of good things not only for me and the other members, but for heavy construction in general. We demand higher wages than the non-union workers, but we also provide better trained and qualified people. Construction companies don’t go out of business because of being unionized, because the union workers are more productive. Now, SEIU? A whole different story.

I like how castro is wearing sweat suits like low level street mafia types, and/or RUN DMC. he is getting way cool in his old age.

This teacher is only 1/2 the equation. the other half is the “parents”. All should be lined up and shot. Just like Castro would do, if god forbid, one of his teachers took their students to evil America!

Truth is, Castro was the genius behind Run DMC’s cover of Aerosmith’s “Walk this Way”…. which explains why it was to music what Das Kapital was to sociopolitical thought.

Why is there no mention of the multiple DOE approved Cuban trips? IE NYtimes Blog:

“Beacon students had gone to Cuba in 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2005, apparently with permission from the school and the Department of Education. Gov. David A. Paterson’s stepdaughter went on the 2005 trip, and he had placed a call to school officials in 2007, urging them to approve the trip that year as well.”

Okay so he is a Communist and he wanted to see Fidel before he died… Okay I personally do not see anything wrong with that per se. What I think is wrong is that he HAD to for some reason take students with him… I mean why? I am guessing because with the students came a free airline ticket. Wow true communist using SOMEONE ELSE’S money to get something ONLY HE wanted. Disgusting especially since he probably bribed, cajoled or terrorize his students into going to Cuba with him to legalize his desire to go visit. Field trip? That sounds like a vacation to me. Vacation on NY’s citizens dime.

Then there is the question of the parents… didn’t they know? werent they told? did the kids WANT to go? where are they from? what is their legal standing? Something weird is going on.

3 year investigation? For what? To read the tickets? Interview the kids? Ask the guy where the F(@# he went?

I think the Warren Commission was faster than these clowns ….
