Delusional Keith Olbermann defends his rapidly eroding ratings

February 7, 2010, 9:14 am · 15 comments

The delusional Keith Olbermann seems outraged – absolutely outraged – that several media outlets said his program is in danger of being canceled due to low ratings.

He refuted the vile rumor that his ratings are spiraling downward at an ever-increasing rate.

“First the small picture on how conservatives come to believe the crazy, nonsensical, totally fact-free things they believe,” Olbermann said. “How they transform discernible, provable lies into their wishful thinking version of the truth.” He then insisted that stories of his plummeting ratings are a figment of conservatives’ imaginations and even bragged that the program’s audience has grown.

Just one problem. OIbermann is flat-out lying. His ratings are going down. Big time. For example, here’s a comparison of Thursday, February 5 of this year and Thursday, February 4 of last year.

Of course, we know critics will say, “Well, sure, but one night doesn’t prove anything.” To which we say, “Shut the hell up, morons. These numbers are pretty damn indicative of the overall trends.”

Network/Host                   2-5-2009         2-4-2010
Fox, O’Reilly                        3,839,000          4,176,000
CNN, Brown                         1,497,000            585,000
MSNBC, Olbermann              1,475,000            917,000
HLN, Grace                          1,285,000            967,000

Bottom line: Olbermann’s audience is rapidly dwindling away, no matter how he chooses to spin it otherwise.

As the chart shows, a year ago his total audience often approached 1,500,000 viewers (on Thursday, February 5, 2009 it was 1,475,000). This year it usually comes in under 1,000,000 total viewers (on Thursday, February 4, 2010 it was a mere 917,000).

Obviously, the same math used by the President to explain how ObamaCare won’t grow the deficit is being used by Olbermann to explain how his ratings are growing instead of shrinking. And we suspect the same math is also being used to explain the number of jobs created or saved and maybe even how the world is heating instead of cooling.

Aha! It’s Lib Math. It all makes sense now.

Well, he did get fired from ESPN for being a moron and ESPN’s IQ is only slightly higher than that of MSNBC. Maybe he could get a job mowing lawns or something?

I’m loving this, it’s not often that you get to watch someone breakdown mentally on live television. BathTubBoy is melting down more often then usual these days, & it thrills me to see how angry he has become. His anger will destroy him, & I hope it takes some time. It only prolongs the torture.

If he can say that it is not happening and he can make others believe it then it is not true.

Yeah, I discern anger a lot in the media these days and if it weren’t for Limbaugh’s chronic anger driven tirades, I would listen to him a lot more. That is what has marginalized him in my mind.

El-Rushbo has “chronic anger driven tirades”? You really need to listen to more talk radio. I have never heard him go bonkers like other I have heard, or seen if you include cable talkers.

so how’s that hopey changey stuff workin’ for ya, all you idiots who voted this disaster of a “president” into office? I’ll tell you how it’s working for me. I made less than I did last year. I just did my tax return and will pay almost $1,600 MORE IN TAXES than I did last year. No, I didn’t have fewer deductions. I had MORE. What was that about “not ONE DIME MORE” in taxes for the middle class??
