Did Chrysler target Republican dealers for closure?

Chrysler is broken. Were dealers punished for their political contributions?

Chrysler is broken. Were dealers punished for their political contributions?

We ended a recent story on an unhappy Chrysler dealer with the theory that political affiliation may have been a major factor in which dealers Chrysler chose to close.

Considering the fact that Chrysler is now owned by the United Auto Workers and controlled by President Obama’s minions, the theory seemed plausible.

Directorblue.blogspot.com followed up on our theory and the results of its research make us look look like we’re clairvoyant. Here’s how DirectorBlue describes what they found:

To quickly review the situation, I took all dealer owners whose names appeared more than once in the list. And, of those who contributed to political campaigns, every single one had donated almost exclusively to GOP candidates. While this isn’t an exhaustive review, it does have some ominous implications if it can be verified.

However, I also found additional research online at Scribd (author unknown), which also appears to point to a highly partisan decision-making process.

Consider the partial list of Chrysler dealership owners, listed below. You’ll notice that all were opponents of Barack Obama, most through sponsorship of GOP candidates and organizations, but a handful through Barack’s Democrat rivals (Hillary Clinton and John Edwards in 2008, for example).

Chrysler claimed that its formula for determining whether a dealership should close or not included “sales volume, customer service scores, local market share and average household income in the immediate area.”

In fact, there may have been other criteria involved: politics may have played a part. If this data can be validated, it would appear to be further proof that the Obama administration is willing to step over any line to advance its agenda.

We’d like to tell you how brilliant our theory was, but after watching this administration in action for 120 days, it seemed like an obvious possibility.

[shuffle] [shuffle]

Thats the sound of the liberal media sliding this little bit of research neatly under the rug.

I arrived at this article because of something I just heard on Cavuto. I am going to check this out further. If true, I’m about to become an ultra-cynic.

This was debunked by fivethirtyeight.com while none of these sites took five minutes to think that most car dealers are republicans (middle aged white and often rural locations). If 88% of dealers who give to candidates give repub then why are we shocked that a small sample had 90% give to repubs?

Good! I hope they did target those tacky, moronic, cigar-smoking-lime-green-pants-wearing-golf-playing-fatCAT Porkers!

Remember, it’s all about PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY…they should have saved more money for a rainy day like this. OR did they somehow think they were immune from the bad luck the rest of us face in our lives? Are they “special”? PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY! If they chose to sell junky american clunkers, well that’s their problem – they made the wrong choice. Why didn’t they all become Mercedes dealers years ago? BAD CHOICES, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY!
