You just know you’re in for some big laughs when a Media Matters article starts out like this:
“Not content with its lapdog coverage of President Bush over the past decade, the Beltway press has adopted a new, super-soft way to deal with Bush’s former vice president, Dick Cheney, as well as GOP media star Sarah Palin. Journalists have set aside what had been decades’ worth of guidelines and embraced special new rules for how Cheney and Palin get treated.”
It seems that the author Eric Boehlert is upset that Sarah Palin “Hasn’t allowed herself to be interviewed by a single independent political journalist since she launched her book in November. Instead, she mostly communicates with the mainstream media via Facebook. And now that she’s signed on to join the Fox News staff, the chances of Palin ever speaking with the serious press seem to be less than zero. That lack of openness stacks the deck and leads to dreadful bouts of stenography; of literally recording what controversial Republicans say, and nothing more.”
Yes, of course, the media has treated Palin so kindly that she ought to sign up for all kinds of interviews because we’re sure you are really interested in openness.
Dick Cheney also get’s nothing but love from the media and a super-soft treatment? Well that explains the 5,000 times that the MSM replayed Alan Grayson’s distasteful remarks about “blood dripping from Dick Cheney’s teeth” doesn’t it?
The Media Matters article ends with the bizarre claim that “The press has never cared what a former VP had to say about current events… or what a failed VP candidate had to say just months after losing.” And “Traditionally, pundits and reporters disdain political losers … But for Cheney and Palin, the rules have been generously reworked.”
Hmmmm, let’s see here. Isn’t Al Gore a former Vice President and a political loser? We would have sworn that pundits and reporters pay an inordinate amount of attention to his global warming weather crap.
But we must be wrong. Because Media Matters says so.
So there.

Olbermann w/ Arrianna Huffington on MSNBC says BHO in charge of all 3 branches of gov’t? Legislative, Judicial, and Executive. Don’t we still have separation of powers? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxJ5v7apAsg Guess not!
Ahhhh yes, media matters-the guys who are slaves to george sorros. they must really hate themselves to work for such a douchebag. Can you imagine waking up every day and hating life so much that you go to work for a smear machine that is rooted in fallacy, and all the while knowing that the guy who pays your paycheck made his billions on the backs of you and all your other anarchist friends who hate with your very core, the very international conglomerates you so ardently attack? must be a pretty crappy existence. I would rather drive the van for the coroner that goes from hospital to hospital picking up dead people than work for that shit-bird!
Memory is a strange thing, and can be influenced and programmed.
A few months ago I spoke with a (black) fellow who “remembered” and asked me to remember “back when people were getting thrown into jail for talking bad about Bush”. And he actually remembered “those days”, as if they really did happen that way.
It’s because DURING those days, that’s what he was being told each and every day, by his politicians, his favorite actors and singers, by his community organizers, and, even more importantly, by his PREACHERS, the folks whose JOB it is to tell the truth.
How could anyone steeped in such lies NOT remember those days, when that’s all they heard from all the people they respected and trusted most for eight whole years.
So the Media Matters folks “remember” the days when the MSM acted as Bush’s lapdog, and it’s no wonder….that’s what they told themselves and that’s what their most respected and trusted people told them every single day for eight years. How else are they going to remember things?
well said.
If Bush wanted to send people to prison for opposing him or as Cameron Diaz so intelligently put it, if he FORCED women to not abort and raping them in the process (how exactly don’t know), I am sure that would be on the cover of Times during the 8 years of his presidency. It wasn’t.
Bush had the opportunity to declare martial law and put all arabs or muslims of a certain age group in prison or concentration camps like that Denzel Washington movie after 9/11 (like the govt did to the Japanese after Pearl Harbor you know under a DEMOCRATIC/PROGRESSIVE President (FDR)? ) , but Bush didn’t do it… imagine that… imagine that.
People are dumb regardless of their color when their ideology is messed up.
