Awkward moment between Democrat Governor Mike Easley and Democrat President Barack Obama (See how easy that was, AP?)

Awkward moment between Democrat Governor Mike Easley and Democrat President Barack Obama (See how easy that was, AP?)

Here’s a rule of thumb: If a newspaper story doesn’t mention the party of a politician who’s in trouble, bet your house it’s a Democrat.

AP proved the wisdom of that betting strategy again on Friday when it took eight paragraphs to identify the party of former North Carolina Governor Mike Easley.

Here’s how Associated Press framed the story:

Federal authorities revealed Friday that they are looking into who paid for flights former North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley and his family took on privately owned aircraft while he was in office.

The FBI subpoenaed the state Highway Patrol and a trooper who was the head of the governor’s personal security detail, seeking information about the travel, documents involving payments and any communication the agency had with the Easleys about those private flights.

The subpoenas also ask for public inquiries of the flights and the patrol’s policies on keeping records related to the Easleys’ trips.

Where do they mention the former governor’s party affiliation? Not for five more paragraphs.

Easley, a Democrat, didn’t immediately return a phone call at his law office in Raleigh.

If he’d been a Republican, the headline would have said, “Republican investigated by FBI.” Maybe even “Evil Racist Republican investigated by the FBI.” Possibly even “Evil Racist, Gun-Loving, Misogynist Republican investigated by the FBI. Dems demand immediate resignation.”

Sigh.

If you have to nit-pick iin partisan fashion as you do in the headline, you are a a programmed “conservative” stooge who has no clue what America’s problems really are. Delusion has you chasing mentions of “Democrat” – after the worst president in American history has crippled the country and left an immense mess behind – and you engage in stupid conspiracy theories that maintain all of the press is hostile to Republicans. Perhaps the GOP seditionists had something to do with their own ongoing demise, because they are constantly reaching for some reason to blame everyone but white “conservative” males who don’t have a clue but have ravaged America, those who won’t be happy until a fascist-theocratic dictatorship is imposed, like yourself. Mr. Bottomfeeder.

Praise from a master is, indeed, gratifying.

Only because the majority of the press is anti-conservative. I do agree with you that Bush was not the brightest bulb on the string, but if you think Obama was bad, wait until 2012. Oh wait. That’s right. You take the media’s word as gospel and if they say that Obama is the greatest president ever, you’ll agree with them. Sorry, but the nation is going be in deep shit after Obama gets through with it. The problem with Obama (and liberals) is that they want government in every nook and cranny of our lives, and while that may work in other nations, like Switzerland and Sweden, it won’t work in the US on a national level because the country is so big that it is very easy to hid corruption. What we really need is a national government that maintains the nation’s security and overseas affairs, and let the states run themselves like the founding fathers intended. If you want health care, do it on a state level. It’s not the national government’s affair. That belongs at the state level.
