Female MMA fighter was a man until 2006. No wonder she doesn’t hit like a girl.

Whole new meaning to hits like a man, it was a man and now is a “woman”.

Sorry sugar, you’re STILL a man, just a man who has purchased a very expensive and elaborate drag costume.

Srgery an hormones not withstanding, men have a different skeleton and musculature than women. If he (she) is competing with women, he has an unfair advantage. After all, in MMA one doesn’t fight with a penis. I suspect he was a failure as a male competitor, and now he can beat the girls. Sad

“men have a different skeleton and musculature than women.”

Thank you. It’s true. One of the most crucial differences is in the knee. Sports Illustrated did a long investigation of it a few years ago because so many female athletes blow out their knees, and basically the female knee is simply designed differently. On a woman’s knee the kneecap will slide right off much more easily, which of course is a very bad thing if there’s heavy stress on the joint when it happens. This person might be a woman officially, but he/she has male knees and like you say male structure, so it’s not fair.

which is exactly what happened to my knee…

Ouch. I saw it happen to my cousin Patti twice. And my son-in-law will never let me forget the time his cousin was playing basketball with us and his kneecap slid off. While he was lying on the ground in pain, I, who had just read the Sports Illustrated article on women’s knees, said to him, “Gee, Hank, you’ve got a woman’s injury!” Probably the last thing a man wants to hear when he’s in pain is that he has a girl’s injury. And then, trying to change the subject because I realized I’d said the wrong thing, I said, “I could probably pop it right back on top if you want.” He didn’t.

was on crutches for 6 months then I fell and messed it up again so then another 6 month on crutches. then I had to learn to walk again. for a while after that I was able to pop it in and out…my cousin would cringe, (which was why I kept doing it) but now it’s just out and to the side. But it’s ok because I have built up the muscles around it so it is supported pretty well. Bothers me every once in a while (usually when the weather changes) most times it’s alright. My orthopedist is amazed at how stable it is in spite of it all. Funny thing is my colleagues complain about how fast I walk. They have a hard time keeping up with me and one is 10 years younger than I am, the other 14 years younger.

My daughter used to be aboe to turn her left foot all the way backwards. Needless to say she had lots of knee problems. Finally the specialist took pictures, called everyone in the office to see her “trick” then told her to never do it again and gave her exercises to strengthen the surrounding muscles so she could turn her knee out like that anymore. She still has some problems, but its much better, and her knee is tight enough now that she can’t turn her foot around anymore.

16 years. Gave her hell during marching season. She marched one competition with her knee the size of a cantaloupe.

Jeepers, woman, why don’t you have them put your kneecap back where it belongs? Maybe they could tighten it up or something, or put a little tension screw into it.

Hey, if you have a kneecap on the side of your leg, does that mean you walk in circles?

oh it snaps back in place when I bend it…then slides over when I straighten it again…they wanted to do surgery but I didn’t want to do it cuz I didn’t want it…and like I said, most times it’s fine and the dovtor says it’s really quite stable. No I don’t walk in circles…I’m “knock-kneed” so the other leg keeps me headed straight.

I think you’ve got the right idea, drb. Until something is REALLY causing you a problem, surgery is something to be avoided. Having had eight operations on my legs, I should know.

Seven on the right leg, only one on the left. Not a spider, just someone who has a LOT of fun, right up until bones start splintering.

Due to the shape of the pelvis, women are a little knock-kneed, some more than others (though being very narrow hipped I gave my orthopod an argument about that!) Their upper body is different as well, and while a woman may work out and develop those muscles, pound for pound they are not as strong (sorry, but its true.) Want to tell if a she is really a he? Forget the larnyx. Look at the calf muscle. The insertion is different!

Really? Learn something every day. Structure is important. I just recently watched a nature show where they explained why chimpanzees are so strong compared to humans. Structure and where the muscles are attached, that’s the answer. Of course, on the down side for chimps, they’ll never make good pianists.

But if you need a piano MOVED…

I, too, showed remarkable restraint about the subject of “insertion in the calf” being different than normal insertion. But I didn’t say it. I’m proud of myself.

it’s not different than normal… what’s normal for the male is different than what’s normal for the female.
