Fox News kills competition, Glenn Beck’s ratings make mockery of boycott

Glenn Beck rules the ratings with an iron fist

Glenn Beck rules the ratings with an iron fist

If President Obama’s henchmen are organizing a boycott of Glenn Beck, the ratings show that no one’s paying attention.

Beck’s ratings are higher than ever. Remarkably, his show doesn’t run during primetime, yet his audience is larger than every prime time on every cable news network except Fox News’ O’Reilly-Hannity tandem.

How long until Fox moves him into a more prominent time slot? And who will go or move to make room for him?

Is there any place to see how Red Eye on Fox compares against the other channels? I’d love to see how that 2-3am show does on audience vs prime timers like Cooper or Matthews.

Beck has laid out more details and info that Obama has ever even thought about. Funny that the leftists hate Beck and call him crazy BUT cannot refute a single statement he makes. Obama has lied to the people since day 1. He has associated with anti American radicals his whole life. He created a hierarchy of Czars, unvetted by anyone except himself, that includes Communists, Marxist revolutionaries, and several with prior criminal records. Are you kidding me?? Beck speaks the voice of the people. Marxist socialism has always preyed on the weak and the stupid. Apparently the USA has many of these morons. Beck is turning the tide and even the idiots can sometimes be shown the light. Obama is DONE in 2012- let’s hope we make it that long.

I love Glenn Beck and pray for him. I am a Black American, the reason I don’t say I am African American because I wasn’t born there. I am an American and proud of it so I guess that makes me a racist, Uncle Tom, or a Black redneck take your pick. But I didn’t vote for Obama and it amazes me how anyone can believe anything that comes out the man mouth. Amazing… We live in the greatest country in the world. There are a lot of Black Americans out there who don’t believe in that two bit hustler for corrupted polluted Chicago style politics. We are there, and we are going to unite not as Black Americans but as Americans.

Max, I am black and didn’t vote for Obama either. You are right about being called a racist, uncle tom, and all the above. some blacks felt as if they had to vote for him, that is a negative. I would never vote for a person based on skin color. I lisen to Beck when ever I am home. He speaks the truth and the left hates him for. His lates book is right on the money if you haven’t read it yet.

Max, love ya brother!

We need to have real people like you on TV in short 2min specials talking about why we should all Love America. When we have freedom and then take it and run with it and do our best, then we become a blessing to each other and to the rest of the world.

I was never helped by someone with a defeatest attitude, except to be inspired not to join him in his misery, and to give him a hand if I could and he would let me.

If you can be in DC on 9/12, GO!! If not, then tell anybody around you who can to show up. We are going to march to protect everybody’s civil-liberties, and to Scare Congress so they stop giving away the store man!

Exactly. It SCARES you. Stations like Fox and Glenn Beck are trying to scare you. Scaring you makes you think to yourself, “Thank goodness i watched this program, otherwise i would be in danger.” Then you watch that program again because you are AFRAID that you might miss something, but watching again just SCARES you more. its a cycle, and you know what it gives the shows that scare you? MONEY. they get a big pay-check because they get a big audience. Money is the true driving force behind not only Fox, but even “liberal” stations like MSNBC, and every other major stations. the media is a BUSINESS. they don’t care about you, or you’re safety, or even if you’re being told the truth. And that’s why I HATE THE MEDIA.

Fox is not a news channel. They now sponsor “news events” like the Tea Parties, cover them , frothing as they go. It is a freak show. We tune in to see mentally ill people filled with anxiety, neurosis, and fear proceed to explode with anger, sob, shout people down, call then names, be rude and behave like the worst emotional train wrecks on our soap operas and Jerry Springer. We had father Coughlin and Joe Pine when I grew up. I tuned in for a while for the “jaw-droppers”. It stimulates a part of the primitive brain – that makes us slow down for bloody auto accidents. Fortunately, we humans eventually have our fill of this emotional gore. We can only be baited and fear-mongered so many times before something else kicks in. Maybe we eventually feel the shame associated with such voyeurism -peeking in the window of our TV at emotional m***turbation of a truly disturbed individual. Beck has lost @80 of his sponsors. No TV show has ever survived such disdain from the business community. We gradually tire of the spectacle. I’d like to think that even most Romans eventually tired of lions eating Christians? Eventually the ratings drop and Beck will (hopefully) take some time to get some needed medical care.

Here is a warning for the radical left, Glenn Beck is waaaaaay smarter then you think. The man has been around the block, knows exactly what he is doing, thinks waaaay outside of the box, & is veeeeery good at what he’s doing. The reason many dismiss Beck is because they can’t look the surface of his unconventional approach to making a point. The chalkboards, gascans, eggs, deadfish, bundles of cash, frogs, & everything else are all brilliant props used to make a point.

Dismiss Beck at your own risk, I listen to him for about 8 years now, & he’s been right more often then not, & by a huge margin. He’s a very dangerous man if you are an idiot politician of either party.

I just think he is asking government to answer some questions. Besides, I would rather find my own clean water and not have the government regulate my entire life, thank you. All,

Anybody ever run across a site that DOESN’T degenerate into lame name-calling, polarized Dem vs Repub hack nonsense? A place where you can actually see FACTS brought to bear in support of a position on any topic? If so, please post a link! I can’t be the only one who longs for a LOGICAL exchange of ideas without the JT-style “lords of judgement” mucking it up, right?

We seem to simply differ over the extent to which public money should be used for things which purport to support “the greater good”. I for one would be very interested in anyone who would like to ANSWER THE QUESTIONS that Mr. Beck keeps asking: WHY does the President seem to have surrounded himself with the more-radical left? They don’t share my values! HOW can we believe that there isn’t a “hidden mission” to his healthcare agenda that will lead to single-payer, when he’s clearly been observed as favoring that outcome? WHY should we have faith in this legislation, when we ALL KNOW that the LAST attempt at social healthcare (Medicare) has become insolvent, frought with fraud and waste, etc?

If you carry the torch of Liberty as an American, you clearly MUST subsribe to the idea that Government is untrustworthy and is to be RESTRAINED from excessive encroachment. Taking any other position is to reject the premise on which the Republic is BASED. We must INSIST that, if this is to be the path we take (and I do NOT reject that this may be an appropriate path for the electorate to select), it must be done in the full light of day, by AMMENDMENT to the Constitution as appropriate to entitle these powers to be delegated by the people to their Government. Pretending that the results of a general election so bestow these powers is only going to result in more and more violent whiplash, as more and more-extreme adminsitrations whipsaw us back and forth undoing that which the previous has done. This is no way to proceed, and can only lead to insurrection and discord.

I propose we either openly aknowledge the nature of the objectives of the respective factions or commence with the hostilities. We’re wasting time…

Yes… heaven forbid we attend to any “lords Of judgment” who “muck up” the discussion with facts. Beck displays classic behaviors of paranoia and narcissistic personality disorder as defined in the DSM, handbook of psychiatric MD’s. There we go defining and judging things again – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paranoia – but that is what thinking people tend to do. If emotion and a certain amount of our own paranoia or media-induced fear sweeps us away, we take a different approach to a problem- but please don’t call it thought. To advocate that there is no thoughtful solution other than to investigate Beck’s paranoid delusions & adopt a suspicion of “hidden mission” OR – - we should proceed to “carry the torch of Liberty” to “insurrection” sounds like Tim McVeigh & Okla City. The hatred toward America that Beck stirs can incite fearful folks to crime. The narrow either/or of GT’s proposal gets into this frame of thought and other hallmarks of distorted thinking that can justify crime – but lets not go there now. The mental illness that Beck foists on viewers and the fact that we are personally titillated by watching these displays of illness is what we might want to look at. Fear and hatred of this sort has been aroused before in history. You know the names. Ironically – America ends up sending troops to fight these hysterical nut jobs and then spends our tax dollars putting the countries they destroy back together. Now we tolerate them within our borders. Can the 50+ advertisers who dumped Beck all be wrong in their “lord of judgment” cancellation and disapproval of Beck’s hate mongering? all of them – REALLY? Yes, I muck up my thinking with wisdom from our great authors who warned us of mental illness we are capable of falling prey to. Whether it’s Arthur Miller’s CRUCIBLE recounting how the Puritan’s murdered their neighbors and destroyed their town by falling prey to fear of “UNRESTRAINED and excessive” witchcraft (characters’ rants are almost word for word what Beck is pushing) – OR- whether it’s George Orwell’s 1984 showing us how to adopt slogans like Ignorance is Strength (“Believe in something! Even if it’s wrong! Believe in it!”-Beck) and conduct daily “news” hours that are “3-minute Hates” demeaning thought and elevating fear while praising the Fair and Balanced broadcaster. I was raised to love our country and our system of government and to hope that people less fortunate in the world could someday enact such a democracy. We have allowed the unpatriotic and foreign-owned media empire of Fox to peel way love of country from love of our system of government. We have to learn the T-Party mind trick of hating social security while collecting it. What are we thinking when we allow such America hating by mental cases to go on and in fact defend it ? GTurner – what planet are you from? Love of Country is what brings us together. Why so much hate and fear of the government of the United States of America from you?

“blah, blah, blah… hidden mission”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-bY92mcOdk

“blah, blah, blah… you know the names”: Yes, I do. Goerge Washington, Thomas Paine, and of course, Thomas Jefferson: “The beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it”, “I am not a friend to a very energetic government. It is always oppressive”, “Most bad government has grown out of too much government”, “Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms [of government] those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny” and my favorite on the topic of “Healthcare”: “Was the government to prescribe to us our medicine and diet, our bodies would be in such keeping as our souls are now.”

“blah, blah blah… hope that people less fortunate in the world could someday enact such a democracy”. Ummm, I think you mean CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC, right? After all, thats what we started with. What we have now, in context with the current shredding of the Constitution is little MORE than a pedestrian, tyrranical, soon-to-be-short-lived Democracy. Smarter men than I said it best:

“Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There was never a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” – John Adams

I am apparently from that planet that remembers the source of our Liberty, cherishes it and seeks to preserve it for OUR children. My “hatred” is for those in Government who would usurp the authority lent to it by the people, expand their power at our expense, and promote attitudes like yours that seek to belittle, riducule and shame us for differing in opinions so critical to defining the ethos of the nation. You appear to be ignorant of who we are as a people and where we have come from. You spew your conspiracy theory that all conservatives are mentally ill because you know nothing about them. Ignore the principles upon which they live their lives at your peril, fool.

No treason here. Perhaps, though, you would like to classify it as a “hate” or, synonymously, a “thought” crime.

trea•son
Pronunciation: \ˈtrē-zən\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English tresoun, from Anglo-French traisun, from Latin tradition-, traditio act of handing over, from tradere to hand over, betray — more at TRAITOR
Date: 13th century
1 : the betrayal of a trust : TREACHERY
2 : the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign’s family

Those that are comfortable with losing their freedom have a tendency to defend those that take it.

JT,

I’ll take that as a tacit aknowledgement that you concur the current Government HAS usurped the authority lent to it by the people in order to expand their power at our expense?

It may be “treason” in your VERY distorted view of the world. But since its borne of my “mental illness”, I guess I get a pass from you?

“the true theory of our Constitution is surely the wisest and best . . . (for) when all government . . . shall be drawn to Washington as the centre of all power, it will render powerless the checks provided of one government on another, and will become as . . . oppressive as the government from which we separated.”

“It may be treason” – yes it is. But far worse is how seriously fear drives your bus. So much fear of imaginary usurpation – so little time to throw tantrums and well up with tears with Glenn….
Good God man do you listen to yourself???
“….with the current shredding of the Constitution is little MORE than a pedestrian, tyrranical, soon-to-be-short-lived Democracy….my “hatred” is for those in Government who would usurp the authority lent to it by the people, expand their power at our expense, and promote attitudes like yours that seek to belittle, riducule and shame us for differing in opinions so critical to defining the ethos of the nation.” FROTH.. FROTH.. FROTH.. “Shredded, usurped, belittled, ridiculed” – who -when- where- how- – -you poor baby. Where do you live that this is happening to you?
“conspiracy theory that all conservatives are mentally ill” – Hadn’t really thought of that but it would be easy to make that leap, witnessing the whipping you give yourself with paranoid fears. Seriously, do you discuss your fears with others outside this circle-jerk blog of fear. Someone who could help you get a handle on the fact that the country has had some serious problems lately but we are really pretty much OK. I mean it.
On the other hand, please do not insult good conservatives by attaching yourself to their good names. What you spew has nothing to do with honest American conservatives like Eisenhower and Danforth who have spoke out against the radical and irrational fears of one’s own government.
Jefferson..’scary’… no. But isn’t it a bit ill of you to misquote, purposely pretend to not understand and abuse the thoughts of great patriots out of your own need to justify your fears. Comeon- you have to know that Tom Paine was not talking about a healthcare program – he wasn’t even talking about our US gov’t. Do you have any idea how offensive and dishonest it is to twist those words to fit your need to stir up fear? Kind of cheap? Kind of weird?
Then again you confuse Washington and Paine with Hitler and Mao.
Treachery of this sort is to be expected from Beckerheads.
My advice – head to foreign lands with the rest of your Tory ilk. A pass or one-way ticket to commie china with dear leader Rupert Murdoch and the rest of the Fox F-ups is all you deserve. Grow Up. Those who have been wounded or have died to assure the unearned freedom you squander and whine about are ashamed of you.

JT,

Whine all you want. Presume that my philosophy is driven by some kind of paranoia which you’ve yet to explain. Call me names, question my patriotism. Refer to me as immature, paranoid, cheap, weird, and, finally, wish me expelled to China (huh?). Your insults and mis-guided thinking are irrelevant to me.

I must say I AM somewhat mystified at the amount of hate you spew. There hasn’t been a single interaction here where you did’t villify, denigrate, belittle. Methinks thou doth protest too much. Seems like the actions of a mentally unbalanced sort…

Lets try just one more time: My primary issue with the current state of national affairs is that we’ve arrived at the brink of insolvency. NOT because you and I did something foolish (my finances are just fine, too), but because our GOVERNMENT has. When did it EVER seem like a good idea to continue spending when your source of income was compromised? This is NOT a “left vs right” thing. They’ve ALL contributed to the mess (war in Iraq, the CRA, etc). There MUST be a reason that we continue to throw good money, duly confiscated from slightly more than half of us, at diminishing returns in support of slightly LESS than half of us. What could that reason BE? As a small business owner, I see VERY clearly that our ability to continue this support is waning with the advent of each and every new tax. Are we TRYING to break the system?? Without entering into a moral discussion, what possible aim could there BE for such behavior?

“Lets try just one more time…” I don’t think so GT. Last time was enough for most of us to learn the lesson.
BECK, FOX & TEA PARTY MEDIA APPEAL SUMMED UP by someone who saw it all in Germany in the ’30’s…
“Groups are capable of being as moral and intelligent as the individuals who form them; a crowd is chaotic, has no purpose of its own, and is capable of anything except intelligent actions and realistic thinking. Assembled in a crowd, people lose their powers of reasoning and their capacity for moral choice. Their suggestibility is increased to the point where they cease to have any judgment or will of their own. They become very excitable, they lose all sense of individual or collective responsibility, they are subject to sudden accesses of rage, enthusiasm and panic. In a word, a man in a crowd behaves as though he had swallowed a large dose of some powerful intoxicant. He is a victim of what I have called `herd-poisoning.’
Like alcohol, herd-poison is an active, extroverted drug. The crowd-intoxicated individual escapes from responsibility, intelligence and morality into a kind of frantic, animal mindlessness… Virtue and intelligence belong to human beings as individuals freely associating with other individuals in small groups. So do sin and stupidity. But the subhuman mindlessness to which the demagogue makes his appeal, the moral imbecility on which he relies when he goads his victims into action, are characteristics not of men and women as individuals, but of men and women in masses. Mindlessness and moral idiocy are not characteristically human attributes; they are symptoms of herd-poisoning.”
– Aldous Huxley, Brave New World Revisited

Beckerheads want to frighten everyone into feeling like we are at “the brink of insolvency” as you put it. We have the world’s most vital economy, strong & stable currency, lowest taxes in the industrialized world, strongest military, high standard of living, three times the nobel Prizes of the next closest competitor and soon we’ll have a modern healthcare system and lead the world in clean energy. I’m sure you can find and choose to focus on a negative for every positive above – but the question really is why would one do that? Beck & Fox choose this every day – hour after hour. Why would a person choose to follow such “herd-poisoning”?
“All inner resistance is experienced as negativity in one form or another. All negativity is resistance. In this context, the two words are almost synonymous.
Negativity ranges from irritation or impatience to fierce anger, from a depressed mood or sullen resentment to suicidal despair. Sometimes the resistance triggers the emotional pain body…The ego believes that through negativity it can manipulate reality and get what it wants…. The fact is, of course, that negativity does not work. Instead of attracting a desirable condition, it stops it from arising. Instead of dissolving an undesirable one, it keeps it in place.
Once you have identified with some form of negativity, you do not want to let it go, and on a deeply unconscious level, you do not want positive change. It would threaten your identity as a depressed, angry or hard-done-by person. You will then ignore, deny or sabotage the positive in your life. This is a common phenomenon. It is also insane.” -Eckhart Tolle

19 new companies whose ads aired recently during Fox News Channel’s Glenn Beck program have asked Fox to stop their ads from running or pledged to not to run ads on the show going forward. The latest additions -AmMed Direct, Citrix Online, Concord Music Group, Diageo, Eggland’s Best, Equifax, Eulactol USA (producer of Flexitol), GetARoom.com, Hoffman La Roche (maker of BONIVA), Metropolitan Talent Management, ooVoo, Overture Films, Scarguard, Schiff Nutrition (maker of Tiger’s Milk and Fi-Bar), Seoul Metropolitan Government, Subaru, Toyota-Lexus, Waitrose and Woodland Power Products, Inc. – BRINGS THE TOTAL NUMBER OF COMPANIES THAT HAVE DISTANCECD THEMSELVES FROM BECK TO 80. This after Beck called President Obama a “racist” who “has a deep-seated hatred for white people” during an appearance on Fox & Friends.

The news comes on the heels of stories that broke throughout British newspapers on Monday, reporting that advertisers seen during Beck’s program in England are feeling the heat as well. Diageo – a London-based alcohol company that makes Guinness, Tanqueray and many other brands of spirits – joined Waitrose – a popular British supermarket chain used to supply groceries to the Royal Family – and cut their advertising ties with Beck. Waitrose, along with the U.S.-based Metropolitan Talent Management, adds to a growing list of companies who are not only taking a stance against Glenn Beck, but against Fox News Channel.

Whatever you think of him, your boycotts and complaining only make him more popular. Your declamations can only have the polar opposite effect of what I assume you are intending. He grows rich and influential while you (those who seek to destroy him) grow frustrated. I’m not really for or against him at this point, but from where I’m standing it looks as if every effort the opposition puts forth to silence him, his voice only grows stronger. Either he spreads the facts and has an important message, or you just got majorly trolled. Either way he wins.

“..he wins” -?- Remains to be seen.
Ratings down 30% most recently. Appears more desperate and sick each time I surf by. All the money in the world can’t buy sanity or make up for the lies and hurt he spreads.
Meanwhile – Heil Glenn!

And yet Becks ratings grow and grow. Looks like the truth will prevail. J51 yes thou dost protest tooo much. Your fear of Beck is evidence to me that he has you socialists very worried. I notice that the criticisms of Becks presentations are never backed up with facts and answers. Only that he is a fear monger for speaking what must be truth since none of the accusations that he makes about the dangerous people that Obama surrounds himself with are never disputed. The name calling is a desperate ploy to try to silence Beck’s very effective criticism’s of the extreme liberal left in both political parties.

I got to admit that I am getting Beck Fatigue. I have stopped watching him for a few weeks now. Perhaps is because everything is so bad and he pretty much highlights that things can get worst. However he does highlights a lot of solutions that sadly go untested.

whine…whine… whine…
blah … blah … blah
49 sponsors flee from any association with Beck’s paranoid hate speech.
Every broadcast comes out of Rupert’s pocket. As it should be.

Whats the deal !
Don’t you get the point.
Glenn Stands before a large audience he presents the facts and backs it up with Audio and or Video. Usually of the person admitting their intentions.
He gauges their actions and the evidence upon the Constituition and the fore fathers writings.
He gives ample oppurtunity for the acused to respond.
No response is a omision of guilt. It is very very very very simple.
Report & Defend yourself or you agree.
The ranting you write of is emotion, charizmatic to make a point with entertainment. If he simply sat still and with no emotion explained the situation he would seem detached and from the reality of the message.
Glenn shows the audience by the use of emotion and clean statements that he is a part of what the audience is part of. Furthermore I have yet to see where what he shows as patterns in history or statements from history are incorrect.
You speak mostly of the good times but you are about to not live in good times. Here today gone tommorow. Go ahead and think of it as motivation to get off your a#$ and get involved with re-building our country the way its inception was ment to be.
Not the mommy, daddy that you need it to be.
