Is Glenn Beck the real king of cable news? His program is number three in the ratings even though it isn't in primetime

If you’re not on Fox, your ratings picture is pretty grim. All Fox hosts have higher ratings than all their competitors combined. Here’s what it looked like on the night of August 10.

We call your attention to the Glenn Beck ratings. Considering his time slot is during work and drive-home hours for the vast majority of America, his numbers are astounding. Perhaps a rearrangement of the Fox News line-up is in order.

NetworkProgramTotal Audience
Fox NewsO’Reilly3,814,000
Fox NewsHannity3,118,000
Fox NewsBeck2,417,000
Fox NewsGreta2,388,000
Fox NewsBaier1,988,000
Fox NewsShep1,833,000
MSNBCOlbermann1,243,000
MSNBCMaddow1,082,000
CNNHNGrace875,000
CNNGriffin810,000

Remarkably, even Fox News’ primetime fringe programs (Beck, Baier and Shep Smith) garner far higher numbers than the other networks’ primetime hosts.

And for the week of August 3, Fox found itself in the top five among all cable networks with the other news networks way back in the pack. Fox has been ranked in the top five for 31 straight weeks.

NetworkTotal Day RankPrimetime Rank
Fox News63
CNN2323
MSNBC2922

To sum up, it ain’t pretty if it ain’t Fox.

A lineup of Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Middow, etc. is why MSNBC sinks to the bottom….watching Chris Matthews with his 700,000 viewers is like watching a “monkey humping a football!

Speaking for myself and not the site, I’d like to see Lou Dobbs come over to Fox. He’s anti-amnesty, anti-Obama BS–has a lot more in common with us than CNN.

My line-up would be Glen Beck, Lou Dobbs, Hannity, 1-2-3. O’Reilly has zero appeal for me. Hannity, I can take or leave. (neither of the foregoing let anyone speak). Beck is the bomb.

Actually, I wish the other media had more conservative voices. It seems to me like fox is the only voice for conservatives. I’m not so concerned about the talking heads like O’reillie or Matthews, its the bias built into the evening news on all other channels that concerns me. It’s only the political junkies on both sides of the spectrum that listen to the talking heads — but elections are won and lost by the folks who watch the news in the evening for an hour or so and then switch to sports or sitcoms.

Glenn Beck, and Hannity are the two best News People and informative people you have on Fox. I always watch them. Keep up the good work

I used to watch CNN just as much as FOX (I’m rather fond of Lou Dobbs myself) until I just couldn’t stand to see CNN ignore real news anymore. What’s a little scary about the whole thing is that most of the news networks are so in the tank for Obama that they just keep right on going in the same direction; any self-respecting capitalist would take one look at the numbers coming out of FOXNEWS and then do everything they could to emulate their programming. I know I would, but I likes me some money.

O’Reilly is to busy patting himself on the back…for what I am not sure….

Hannity is a homer…he is like the guy that was the leader of the College Republicans that before and issue even comes up you know what he is going to say…..I think he is to full of himself also.

Beck is at least a bit out of the ordinary…but as his popularity grows I feel he tries to justify instead of just being what got him where he is…like i said I like the guy more than any of these others…he is just odd at times….

Fox is not a news channel. They now sponsor “news events” like the Tea Parties, cover them , frothing as they go. It is a freak show. We tune in to see mentally ill people filled with anxiety, neurosis, and fear proceed to explode with anger, sob, shout people down, call then names, be rude and behave like the worst emotional train wrecks on our soap operas and Jerry Springer. We had father Coughlin and Joe Pine when I grew up. I tuned in for a while for the “jaw-droppers”. It stimulates a part of the primitive brain – that makes us slow down for bloody auto accidents. Fortunately, we humans eventually have our fill of this emotional gore. We can only be baited and fear-mongered so many times before something else kicks in. Maybe we eventually feel the shame associated with such voyeurism -peeking in the window of our TV at emotional m***turbation of a truly disturbed individual. Beck has lost @80 of his sponsors. No TV show has ever survived such disdain from the business community. We gradually tire of the spectacle. I’d like to think that even most Romans eventually tired of lions eating Christians? Eventually the ratings drop and Beck will (hopefully) take some time to get some needed medical care.

JT51 you are a bit confused. You must have been watching Bill Mahar or listening to Mike Malloy or Ed Schultz or……ad nauseam.

I like all the Fox pundits. The Factor is my personal favorite, but I will tune into any of the big three. I also watch MSNBC just to see the vitriol coming out of that camp and CNN puts me to sleep. Dobbs is the ONLY bright spot over there.

Beck is crazy. I like that. He is the most interesting personality on T.V. right now. He reminds me of William Shatner oddly enough. Glenn doing politics is like Captain Kirk traveling to planet whatchamacallit… fun as hell but also a little educational too. (Hope he is wrong about the end of the Universe as we know it though.) Reminds me of Stephenie Meyers a little bit also. They are both Mormon. Mrs. Meyers teaches a lot of people to read using entertaining writing, while Glenn Beck tries to teach history and politics by being wacky and funny. Politics aside, sometimes Beck is the funniest person on television bar none.

Exactly – Take Heed! When Hitler started drawing his largest crowds, “destroying his competition”, our grandfathers and grandmothers knew it was time to leave, eh?

you better wake up. i have been layed off awhile i watch them all. fox is by far more fair and balanced.when the story broke on the nut breaking into the office of a senator, they reported it, but when acorn workers conspired with the same reporter to break u.s. tax and immigration laws mslsd blew it off as a rightwing hoax.
but now olber(bearing)mann AKA liberal limbaugh and the democratic dike are using this as lead stories, they hate the repubs. so much they will lie . you need to watch other channels so you can keep them all honest.
you better hurry up the way mslsd is losing viewers they wont be on much longer.

Quick! Hurry! Join the Party! Attend the Rallies! Everyone’s doing it. They are the only ones telling us the fair and balanced truth. And their armbands are so pretty.
WHO needs to wake up?
