That is the problem. They may not have bigger voices and the media doesnt put them out there. You have to go out of your way to get information about politicians that attempt and in many cases succeed to get something done. Also some men and women give up too quickly when they realize the cesspool they went into which is too bad.

Oh yes, there are trustworthy politicians…those that got into politics to accomplish something. But they are so few and far between (not to mention generally ignored by most media) that I often tend to make broad blanket statements concerning politicians being all bad. There are even some that manage to not let the Washington machine corrupt them once they get there. I just wish they had bigger voices.

Politicianw by their natures are not trustworthy but definetly there are some that you can trust more than others I suppose is fair to say.

I agree with your friend. Clinton always kind of gave me a “used car salesman” kind of vibe. Not to insult car salesman, but you know what I mean. lol.

Any politician with charisma just can’t be taken at his word because, as a politician, you know darn well he knows how to use that charisma to his/her advantage. Not that any politician can be trusted anyway, but I digress.

It wouldn’t surprised me if he had a learning disorder and/or a personality issue that prevents him from being or appearing assertive in front of a crowd/camera. Sometimes the knowledge of being judged especially if you know that people are hating on you prevents a person from being eloquent and calm in front of a crowd/camera. If anything previous mistakes tend to be on the person’s mind and in trying to avoid another mistake they continue to appear less than charming.

My Mother always warned me against the smooth talkers they may talk a good game, but will they stay on when things get tough?

I agree. Connections can truly just get you so far in many important fields/situations especially where life and death is concerned.

I have a friend that told me that even though Bush was not her favorite person she could TRUST every word that came out of his mouth. She felt that if he said something he truly believed it and it wasn’t necessary malicious belief, also that if he said he was going to do something she could trust that he did even if she didnt agree with it. There was a sense that he wanted to help and do what he could for the country not just for himself.

Whereas on the same conversation she was very straightforward that although charismatic and handsome and she would love to meet him based on that alone, she couldn’t trust Clinton at all. She would double check anything he said and she did not feel nor sense any sincerity out of him. Also his personal behavior was not that palatable to her. She always believed that the Clintons were all for themselves, which in my opinion is true and they are still that way.

Let me add that she didnt think people weren’t concerned nor afraid of Clinton, that he was considered as a joke by other leaders whereas she felt people took Bush seriously/were afraid of him.

You make excellent points, and very well said.

Also, something people tend to forget; Dubya was a pilot. They don’t just let every brain-dead monkey off the street fly million dollar aircraft, no matter who their daddy is.

I may not have always agreed with him, and his public speeches at times made me cringe, but more important than his I.Q. (to me) was the fact that he knew what he believed, stuck to it, and did the best he could. Whether or not it was good enough or even right is arguable, but I knew where he stood, and was proud that he was our president.

Exactly. From the get-go I suspected that Bush had a something akin to dyslexia or something that made him have tongue-tied tendencies (no pun intended). I believe his father and brother have it. Either way, I’ve known people that have had dyslexia and it it no way infers a lack of intelligence. As a side note, DH has a friend who sat next to Dan Quayle (OK, stop the laughing) on a flight years ago and he said he was one of most thoughtful and ARTICULATE people that he’s spoken with. Complete opposite of what we saw on TV. Just saw him recently on the news and he seemed nervous and looked to have a dry mouth, so I think he was one who unfortunately never mastered the public speaking thing.

How many vacations has O taken this year…? or golf breaks…? basketball breaks? or goings to places to pick up prizes he didnt deserve or going on dates with wifey on my dollar and time? ETC… How many times has he been to Iraq or Afghanistan? whereas Bush made it his business to go at least once or twice a year. Sometimes without previous announcement. Has his wifey been to Africa at all? Mrs Bush for what I understand did.
