Hugo Chavez: Rotten in life, even more rotten in death. So sad. So very, very sad. The Venezuelan government had announced that ol’ Hugo would be embalmed and placed on permanent display a la Lenin. Unfortunately, officials waited just a little too long to begin the embalming process and now the former strongman is stronger than ever. Pungent, in fact. Speaking of which, has anyone seen Frank Lautenberg lately?

Actually, I meant the Mayor, but the comment would still apply to almost all of the current officeholders in Chicago, Cook County, and Illinois. The “slight improvement” of course, is the fact that he’s dead.

So last Saturday my J.P.’s Moment of Common Sense was about dictators, and I suggested that Chavez didn’t necessarily die when they said he did. Since last Saturday the opposition candidate in Venezuela has echoed my suggestion and now the body appears to be… well, somewhat riper than expected. Face it everybody, I’m always right.

And the loons didn’t start embalming him because they probably thought his body would stay incorrupt or decay more slowly because he’s some kind of saint. God appears to have already weighed in on that.
