Even if you aren’t a science fiction fan you should check out “V,” the new series on ABC-TV.
Why? It’s a thinly-veiled commentary on the Obama administration. The bad guys are alien reptiles who bear a very strong resemblance to a certain socialist administration.
Don’t take our word for it. Here’s an excerpt from a review in the Chicago Tribune:
Imagine this. At a time of political turmoil, a charismatic, telegenic new leader arrives virtually out of nowhere. He offers a message of hope and reconciliation based on compromise and promises to marshal technology for a better future that will include universal health care.
The news media swoons in admiration — one simpering anchorman even shouts at a reporter who asks a tough question: “Why don’t you show some respect?!” The public is likewise smitten, except for a few nut cases who circulate batty rumors on the Internet about the leader’s origins and intentions. The leader, undismayed, offers assurances that are soothing, if also just a tiny bit condescending: “Embracing change is never easy.”
So, does that sound like anyone you know? Oh, wait — did I mention the leader is secretly a totalitarian space lizard who’s come here to eat us?
Welcome to ABC’s “V,” the most fascinating and bound to be the most controversial new show of the fall television season. Nominally a rousing sci-fi space opera about alien invaders bent on the conquest (and digestion) of all humanity, it’s also a barbed commentary on Obamamania that will infuriate the president’s supporters and delight his detractors.
ABC has committed to four episodes of “V.” If it does well, they’ll renew it. Unfortunately, the Obama administration can’t be canceled for three more years.

I can’t wait to see this when it gets put up on Hulu.
I watched it on my DVR last night. I laughed out loud when I heard the aliens offer universal healthcare to the earthlings.
Other than the universal healthcare jab, it sounds like any of the presidents we’ve had for the past 4 to 5 decades.
Sure, except for the whole “Don’t ask us any questions that would paint us in a negative light. You can’t say anything that makes us look bad, or this interview is over.” (sort of like how Fox gets treated) Or perhaps “We don’t divide ourselves into countries, we’re a united people.” (you know… socialists)
It certainly was amusingly close to what we have now.
They’ve already reshuffled the production team after Tuesday’s episode aired. I have a feeling that now matter how well it does in ratings, it won’t do “well enough” to come back in March. I hope I’m wrong.
As I watched this premier, I couldn’t help see the coloration that this article points out. Looks like a good show.
I love how the alien leader will only give interviews to reporters who will not show them in negative light (Think Fox News) They even threatened to end the interview if the reporter refused
the obama dig in this episode is very subtle imho not as overt as other movies dig at bush
I kept hearing previews on college football the weekend before the first episode…I knew at that point it was going to be good…
The announcer kept touting it something like this.
When they first arrived they brought hope. They were open to showing everyone what they were all about..They promised to bring change….
I counldn’t help but tell my wife…hmmm sounds familiar right?
