Is Sarah Palin running for something or from something?

Palin-3

Life is a marathon, not a sprint. It will be fascinating to see how the rest of Sarah Palin’s marathon unfolds. While we wait to see, here are photos that accompany her interview in this month’s Runner’s World magazine.

I would think she’s hurt her chances to run for President. Perhaps she’s liking the celebrity role better than the political one.

I do think the rambling speech yesterday was amateurish and will not help her if she does intend to pursue further office. And, don’t get me wrong, I like her. But in a way it’s a good thing. I, speaking for myself not the site, don’t believe she could win a presidential race. My pick was Romney, and it still is. I wish John Boehner would run.

I like her a lot and if you think about it — this is so consistent for her. The state of Alaska is bombarded with frivoulous investigations of her and her family for stupid shit — it costs the taxpayers and it costs her. Rather than let the state pick up the tab for how the left is trying to paint her, she is stepping aside.

Great head-fake in my opinion. Now, as a private citizen what she does is not subject to public record disclosures, the state doesn’t have to be burdended with wackos out to get her. From her vantage point as a private citizen she can speak her mind more directly. She doesn’t have to kiss anyones’ ass– even the republican party.

As to her “rambling” speech — it is ovbisous that she doesn’t have a speech writer — how refreshing in a world of teleprompter talkers aka leaders who simply regurgitate the bs playing on the screen.

I don’t care if she runs for president, if she opens the people’s eyes to the destruction of our freedoms, our constitution and our laws going on in congress, aided and abetted by the media, then more power to her.

BTW, you editors at IHTM should be taking a more critical view of how the media is portraying this announcement. Spin is out there, it’s up to you and us to call them on it.

PS if she goes back to Wasilla and returns to being a hocky mom — good for her. She was a breath of fresh air in the otherwise polluted world of politics.

I hope she does something completely unexpected, like heads up the Tea Parties, or some type of revolt. A private-sector organization of liberty-seeking patriots. Now that’s something she would be GREAT at.

I wish her well, whatever it is. She’s a tough, tough woman, and not many could have taken the arrows that have been so unfairly shot at her.

And damn, she looks good in these photos too!

I think Sarah is leaving politics (at least temporarily) for financial reasons basically. She and Todd have $500,000 in legal bills to pay for and I imagine she’ll get her book out there, embark on lucrative speaking engagements and perhaps be an energy/oil advisor or lobbyist.

Will she come back to politics? Depends on whether or not the monied someones think she’s electable a couple of years down the road. Reagan took a timeout prior to running for President to get his ducks in a row, but, she’s no Reagan. I even wonder if she actually HAS a plan – not really her MO.

I agree with ocmadam.

She can’t do anything for all of those frivilous lawsuits and accusations being brought against her. I heard somewhere that she spends 80% of her time defending herself, and she can’t do her job for Alaska. The left has her in their sites and won’t let up until they see her destroyed – because they’re afraid of her! This should be a clue to Republicans in specific, and Conservatives in general to stop choosing politicians that compromise their values because they think they’ll have a better chance of winning. They won’t win.

Mia, I’m not going to play favorites because I’m a conservative. If I hear a speech that feel was poorly executed, I’m going to say it regardless of who it is. I don’t fall behind the no speechwriter rationale, because I happen to believe that Sarah Palin is one of the absolute best extemporaneous speakers there is. She’s incredible. And that’s why I’m so disappointed with this very important resignation speech. It’s because I am so impressed with her that I wanted her to deliver a speech equal to her others. I’m sorry, but this set her back and gave more ammo to her enemies, something none of us want.

I understand that has needs to do this to pay of the legal bills, and I think it’s a very smart move on her part. I only wish she did this transition better.

Again, i’s because I’m such a backer of Pailn (not for president though) that I am so critical of this speech.

Note: these are my personal thoughts and not necessarily the thoughts of anyone else at IHateTheMedia.

ocmadam, just because she is returning to private life it does not mean she is off the hook for actions she took while governor. In fact, it will hurt her more because she will no longer have access to the state’s legal resources or that salary/expense account she has now. Also, by resigning, she won’t even get her pension.

There are bills and fees not yet racked up for her, so she is not going to be able to return to that “hockey mom” schtick. The woman will be trotted out as some sort of pundit or “expert” for the wingnuts to worship, a la Ann Coulter. That will indeed ruin any political career aspirations she may still have.
