Katie Couric interviews Al Gore, the smartest man in the world who was never president

November 7, 2009, 12:03 am · 16 comments

Rather than making any smartass remarks about this video, we’ll turn it over to the Washington Post:

“In his sophomore year at Harvard, Gore’s grades were lower than any semester recorded on Bush’s transcript from Yale. That was the year Gore’s classmates remember him spending a notable amount of time in the Dunster House basement lounge shooting pool, watching television, eating hamburgers and occasionally smoking marijuana. His grades temporarily reflected his mildly experimental mood, and alarmed his parents. He received one D, one C-minus, two C’s, two C-pluses and one B-minus, an effort that placed him in the lower fifth of the class for the second year in a row.”

In the words of Homer Simpson, “Mmmmmm. Hamburgers.”

Anyone who conducts an argument by appealing to authority is not using his intelligence; he is just using his memory.

Is there a point here?

Yes, Kittykat, there is.

The point is that Gore can be, and should be ignored. Gore’s entire argument, as presented in this video, is composed of logical fallacies.

To whit: The 3,000 scientists who signed on to the Global Warming Hypothesis, are the smartest scientists in the world, because they signed the document and those who didn’t also believe the earth is flat, that the moon landings never occurred, the the moon is made of green cheese, and that Al Gore might have a point but his evidence is inconclusive.

Kittykat, please stop coughing up these hairballs.

Hey Jack-Ass…..What qualifies YOU to determine whether Al Gore is right or wrong on this issue?

When the author of this article makes the ass umption that Gore, in his sophomore year at Harvard is a determination of his “smartness” is just a tad silly.

(Cough Cough)…….this ones for you!

Yes. The point is that Al Gore’s status as being so smart and wise is seriously called into question. Much of his past activities do not support this viewpoint and there is much that can be offered as a challenge to his status of acting ’smart’ on his pet issue of GW.

The additional and larger point is that Al Gore seems to be using the ‘go green’ nonsense as a way to personally profit via the Global Warming Fraud. His business model that lets him prosper is based on fear mongering that the planet in is peril to get people to have to turn over assets to him and others like him. Its simple theft done with a strong arm tactic of scaring people with misinformation.

Actual climate studies show the Solar Magnetic Activity Cycle to be the cause of cooling and warming (BTW- we are now starting the cooling cycle) of the Earth and not CO2 from man made sources. The Al Gore camp will over look real eco issues (like toxic waste, GMO contamination of non GMO crops, Radioactive waste storage etc) just to hype up their own version of what the planet needs.

If he is so smart then why does he play to dogma and use the hammer of fear to pound the issue onto the public? A smart man would see the science and side with it.

Al Gore is good at what he does. What he does is lie and cash in over the GW issue. That makes him a successful grifter-but not necessarily smart.

Hey Kittykat,
Nothing qualifies me to determine if he’s right or wrong. The logic he employs, in his rhetoric, is false. He is, for all intents and purposes saying that 2+2=5. That means what he says cannot be believed, it makes no logical sense. Google “logical fallacy” you public school student, you.

I guess that’s why he’s trying sell it as a religion, now. We’re supposed to just believe he’s right. We lack faith if we don’t. Will we have to go to re-education camps to become believers?

Hey Jack-off,
How long did you ride the “little yellow bus?” Did it ever occur to you that your “logic” is wrong, or maybe your comprehensive skills are lacking?

Sell it as a religion…..now that’s a telling conclusion on your part.

(cough) (cough)….another one for ya!

Kittykat, its not my logic. It’s Aristotle’s. Logic concerns the structure of statements and arguments, in formal systems of inference and natural language. Topics include validity, fallacies and paradoxes, reasoning using provability and arguments involving causality and time. Logic is also commonly used today in argumentation theory.

7 classes in the entire year?!

I had a prof who taught at Harvard for a while. He said while it’s hard to get in, they pretty much hand out A’s. I suppose to pollute the world with the cream of the high school crop

Kittykat,
If Gore’s application of logic is correct, and/or mine is wrong, you cougher of wondrous hairballs, should be able to demonstrate that fact to me, and everyone else here. Please, show us your theorems to prove that Gore is right, and that I am wrong.

Anyone declaring “the science is settled” is demonstrating faith. Faith is the central precept of religion. So either Algors religion is GW or he is dumber than a bag of doorknobs. No, wait. Algors religion is GW AND he is dumber than a bag of doorknobs.

theres gold in them clouds – money is where gore gets his smarts – selling a little snake oil here – some rain making there – oh the good old days of the tinker salesman and his works on his wagon – got to hand to gore hes quite a salesman.
