Miss California Carrie Prejean, who most agree lost the Miss USA 2009 title Sunday Night because, in response to judge Perez Hilton’s question on gay marriage, claimed that marriage should only be between a man and a woman, defended herself on The Today Show this morning. Matt Lauer gave her a chance to revise her answer. No revision necessary, she says:
“The way that I answered might have been offensive … but for me, it was being biblically correct.”
Now this is a strong woman. More of a woman than Ms. Perez Hilton can ever hope to be.

I skipped the first 7 minutes because that weird looking dude was on the screen, so I didn’t get the full gist of the story. But I have to say, that is an awesome young lady! I wish I had her principles when I was that young.

She is to be admired for standing up for her faith and her country… which is more than our President has done.

Miss USA represents all Americans. Neither her religious nor political views are acceptable or necessary in her answers. I, for one, did not need to hear about her G-d or her ‘bible”. She should have taken a controversial question and been smart enough to answer it in a non-controversial way.
Kudos to the judges!
By the way.. her faith and her country are not inclusive of each other. This is my country too.

Wow, Perez is permitted to call her a dumb bitch but She isn’t allowed to speak her mind?????Oh, he feels alienated, too bad, everyone feels alienated at one time or another. Grow up! She did say at the beginning that she lives in a country where there are choices but for her and for her, marriage was for a man and a woman. I applaud her for speaking her mind. This is suppose to be a country of free speech. Why should she be punished for her free speech? The problem in this country is that gay marriage rights is being compared to the Holocaust and Slavery and the comparison is illogical to say the least. Show me a gay person whose skin made a lampshade or a gay person being denied a bank account. America has turned into a country of wimps!

Don’t be retarded Dr350. If they didn’t want to hear about her beliefs, then they shouldn’t have asked her a question about it. You’ve placed your ire on the wrong individual.

Yea I see how its supposed to be, give up your beliefs, give up your God for a cheap satin sash and Chinese made tiara.
Screw that! She did exactly what she should have! She stood up for her values. This is what Rush means when is says “Liberalism is GUTLESS!”

It makes no sense that the judges would ask her a question and then pass her over, not because of the quality of the answer, but because they disagreed with the philosophy of the answer.

How is it that a man who is not attracted to women gets to tell us who the most attractive woman in America is?

I thought that the young lady handled herself very well both at the pagent and in the interview. There is a place for God and the Bible and as well they are both acceptable and many times nessassary. In this case they were nessassary to accurately fullfill the question asked and the ground on which the response was made. If the judges were incapable of listening to educated and founded answers to the questions…they shouldn’t ask the question.
America was after all founded as “…one Nation, under God…” Of course that is not to say that one can not practice thier own religion. It does seem, however, that some do not want anyone to practice Christian faith…
How boring would our society be if we were all Automatrons, like some poor individuals who walk this Earth.
Peace.

I don’t see where this had to do with a padgeant, but he asked a question and she answered it, just the way I would have. I feel the same way sweetie. And Civil Rights and gay rights don’t have anything in common. Being black is a natural thing, being gay is not. But it all boils down to the question, and she did the right thing and answered it with her heart. I just love that honesty. She should have the crown.

Who in the world choose the unprofessional dum gay Hilton as a judge and why?????? Poor judgement of the MISS USA pageant administrators.
The Miss USA California sponsors are as unprofessional as Hilton by asking Carrie to apologize. We should find who the California pageant financial backers are and boycott their businesses.

I am deeply proud of Miss California for her willingness to stand up for what she believes in. No doubt, God is proud of her as well for speaking the truth with as much love as she was able, given the situation.
What really amazed me about this interview was that not only did Miss California handle herself extremely well, but that Matt Lauer was actually quite polite and seemed to be taking HER SIDE. I can’t remember the last time I saw that much class from NBC. Beyond that, they even showed President Obama during his campaign saying that he believed marriage was between a man and a woman. WOW!
Of course we know that this was probably the only occasion in which NBC has ever shown any class, but nonetheless, BRAVO!
