I am having difficulty reconciling your “couldn’t agree more” comment with your hatred of your across-the-street neighbor’s bumper sticker. Although I don’t know what her general attitude is like, nor the aesthetic of the sticker, it seems as though that bumper sticker could just as easily be her commenting on the same issue, and agreeing with both you and Freeman. That is, by saying she’s “Black by popular demand,” she’s saying that she’s only “black” because that’s how society in general (i.e “popular demand”) classifies a person who looks like her. Seems like a perfectly plausible possibility to me.

so…this is just making news…now? that interview is from over 3 and a half years ago. what is all this commotion about it all of a sudden? granted it is a strong point for morgan freeman to make, and maybe it deserves discussion, but why is it a big deal today? is this just a flash-in-the-pan attempt to give people a quotation to fire back with when called on an off-color comment? because frankly, just because a celebrity says something controversial doesn’t make it dictum, especially when no one seemed to notice it when he said it originally several years prior.

not to take away from mr. freeman’s bold statement, not at all in fact. i’m merely suggesting that its being referred to now (well after the fact) to somehow justify particular behaviors. be careful how you take what he said. give it some thought before reacting.
