This entire thread wins the prize for “Most hilarious Back-and-Forth”. Funny how when you insult somebody’s music (which I never do, having extremely eclectic tastes myself) how quickly they come out of the woodwork to defend the artist. I neither like nor dislike Neil Young, having never really listened to his work. That being said, it’s funny how so many people jumped right over the main point; the fact that he’s releasing an album full of songs about electric cars. I don’t care who the artist is who does something like that, it’s freakin’ hilarious.

Also, the video is no longer available. Aww. I wanted to see him sing “I get around (but certainly not as fast as I used to)”. See what I did there? Got the electric car and his age in one bad joke. It looks easy, but it’s not.

Not exactly, I don’t like Neil Young, I like Carrie Underwood because she’s hot, but I’m not big on her music. I like lots of stuff, but my main preference musically is hard & loud. That means Maiden, Metallica, AC/DC, Rush, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Rammstein, & The Fixx, to name a few. People like what they like, & should not have to apologize for their music tastes.

Sorry dude. Rush is cool and all but Neil Young is one of if not the best performer ever, not just from Canada. Not only does he right great songs, he is also one of the great guitar players of all time. No offense to Rush but it isn’t even a contest.

What, this story got over 20 comments? I agree that Neil Young’s latest album about electric cars (really????) might suck outright, but “Harvest” was the first album I ever owned – and that was a long, long, long time ago. Sure the voice sucks – but hey if you were like me and couldn’t sing to begin with, it was great to have someone to emulate. What about the guitar on “”Needle & the Damage done”? Are you saying that it sucks????

It is not about people getting pissed about Dylan going electric or Young going on forever, or about Maiden T-shirts. But here are a few things…
1. I’m no fan of Young, but I will say I do sort of enjoy some of his stuff. But usually when he is alone with an acoustic guitar & a harmonica…

2.Dylan is legendary, he is from my state of Minnesota, but I still don’t care for his stuff. I also don’t think he can actually sing worth a crap. I think that Dylan, as well as Young, are way passed their primes…

3.Iron Maiden T-shirts, I have 2, I love Maiden, they are in my opinion 1 of the top 2 metal acts going. Saw them last summer in Chicago, & they are better then ever. Last summer’s “Somewhere back in Time” tour was their biggest to date, & their singer Bruce Dickinson not only fronts the band, he pilots their 757 on tour. The band, the crew, & their gear all in one plane, Check the DVD “Flight 666″ to see what I’m talking about. Only Metallica is at their level…

4.As for those bitching about Dylan(or anyone else)going electric, this year, sadly, Les Paul died. Anyone who likes anything guitar based, should really learn about Les Paul. The man perfected the electric guitar, & he revolutionized studio recording. Every so often, I say thanks to the man who made it all possible.

This might have been an insightful comment if it wasn’t wrong in so many ways. First, I think the word you meant to use is “forebearers.” These are the people who came “beFORE” us and carried the load.

Perhaps you meant our “four bears” but still, you see the problem with that.

By chance, did you mean our “descendants”, those who come after us? Your descendants will enjoy Neil Young’s music, if you teach them to.
