Why do conservatives continue to hold press conferences? The media is the enemy. Just gather a few journalists you know aren’t crazy and tell them what you want to say, and use alternate media sources like… like IHTM and JPAttitude.com to get your message out. What does the NRA hope to accomplish by giving a press conference to people who hate their guts?

JP is dead on about the media. However, the NRA has not backed down from a fight. This was proven today when Wayne LaPierre took the media, Leftywood, video game makers to task. What frosted their collective asses was when he displayed the the web site that it only took a few click to find that had been on the net for play over 10 years. How easy for the blind media to ignore that this game involved shooting children in school.

He then comes back at barry and the “progressives” for wasting money and not providing security at each and every school. Look at Israel, they not only have armed people in the school. The teachers are fully trained to use an automatic rifle and can shot with accuracy.

He pointed out that giving notoriety to those who are insane or hell bent on becoming infamous that the media is guilty of providing the very food that feeds the beasts.

Once the reactionaries have run out of steam and people start to think logically instead of emotionally they will see that what are so called gun laws are not worth the paper that they where drafted upon.

Finally LaPierre is correct, bad people with a gun are stopped by good people with a gun. It’s proven time and time again.

As for mayor dumbass and cuckold governor of NY, don’t come knocking, you might not like what is on the other side. I guess these two feel in with Hitler, Stalin, Lenin and Mao.

What I find odd is that lots of people made a big deal about the NRA having nothing to say few several days after Newtown. My thought was to not watch much coverage of Newtown because over 90% of the coverage was speculative at best. The MSM has been extremely poor in this story, with CNN rivaling MSNBC for stupidity. Morgan vs Schultz, one’s British & does’nt get it. The other is a butt stupid blow hard who is manifactured bluster.

BTW deepthinker, the only thing protecting the people from Michael Bloomberg’s political utopia is the 2nd Amendment. He knows that, & he hates that, but considering his backround, he should know better because of where that road always leads.

When we know more, then report it, instead, we get sh!t that is made up, & we get news outlets needing to fill time & bringing on anyone who will promote stripping Americans of their constitutional right to legally own guns, but they have armed security.

I didn’t appreciate the attacks on video games and movies.. It’d be very easy for them to defend the 2nd Amendment without trying to find scapegoat elsewhere

The assault weapons ban was in place during Columbine. Connecticut has very strict gun regulation. Every school could staff a credible security force by utilizing former military, reserves/Guard, law enforcement funded by all levels of government and private enterprise. It’s a security issue. The only gun control that will end it all would be confiscation of every weapon in the country from the citizenry. We know this will never happen. Smuggling would bring guns into criminal organizations, and the crazies would get their hands on them eventually.

This is all they have to say

Well said. I’m a NRA member and I was underwhelmed with the press conference too. The scapegoating as you described was the wrong tactic. I would have preferred a more direct assault on larger societal issues like the murder rate among blacks is 17 per 100,000 and among whites it is 2.2% per 100,000. Someone more awake than I could normalize the overall murder rate without the black statistic anr see that the US murder rate is quite low when you back out the drug, gang, and money motives in that community. Ninety-four percent of the black murders are carried out by other blacks. Let’s call it for what it is, a complete failure of the liberal policies if the 1960s….or a success depending on whether or not you’re a eugenicist because those numbers are a tragedy and a disgrace.

I meant to add that the overall US homicide rate is just over 4 per 100,000, which highlights just how serious the black on black homicide rate is as it undoubtably skews the the general population stat. Naturally, progs cannot highlight this data because it screws up the narrative that liberal policies are helpful to the intended recipients. It also screws up the narrative that guns must be banned because they present an unreasonable danger to *the children*.

I’m a lifetime member of NRA, but now I’m looking at NAGR, since the NRA has been selling gun owners down the river so often.

Harry Reid? Really?

That was a great news conference. I’m happy my money is being well spent on people like this. His points on the media, spot on. I think he must have read my post about this article (http://www.ihatethemedia.com/what-if-nothing-or-nobody-is-to-blame-for-adam-lanza-guns-video-games-autism-or-authorities). The media end up glorifying these people at the end of the day. It’s sickening.

Video games, guns, blah blah blah, there have always been sick and deranged people in this world who have harmed others. We call it evil. Good people have never been able to understand how another person could act in this manner. But it’s happened since the beginning of time. Some people blame a snake and an apple, others blame our predatory animal instincts, some blame mental illness, others don’t know. Every good person has their own way of trying to explain these type of acts and have tried to explain them since the beginning of time, at the end of the day it’s just evil. That’s probably the only way I can describe it.

I guess a philosophical question would be: if this was an evil act, and the media exploit it for profit (I’m sure they’ve made a ton of money off increased viewership from this tragedy) and they exploit it to promote a political agenda and ideology, what does that make them? I’m just throwing that question out there for you non-liberals. You know, the higher thinking people out there who see irony and can put two and two together. I think it’s a valid question.

Maybe the NRA should put out some PSAs about how Israel protects it’s children. How concealed carry has decreased killings in states that promote it. How schools that have armed teachers, administrators, or security, have the best safety records.
If they don’t get the message out to the masses, the lamestream media will continue to demonize and diminish the effectiveness of responsible people having weapons.
It’s not like the NRA doesn’t have enough money to put out a few primetime commercials.

Considering the way the media reaps massive amounts of money marketing violence these days, and then screams for gun control makes them the ultimate hypocrites. We have movies and video games being made using military tactics, which goes as far as even endangering our troops.

Considering they too have armed security protecting them.
