NYC Health Dept harasses volunteers distributing meals to Sandy victims. “Bobby Eustace, an 11-year veteran with the city’s fire department said … he and his fellow firefighters … were issued a notice of violation for not maintaining restaurant standards in a tent set up in Breezy Point, Queens, to feed victims and first responders. …the Health Department worker then checked off a list of violations at the relief tent, including not having an HVAC system and fire extinguisher.” Bloomberg’s NYC is a gravitational black hole of terminal stupidity.

If you’re referring to the nannycrats, I agree.

This is Britain all over again. Sent your manufacturing jobs overseas? Tax the people who still have jobs and then hire the rest as government serfs and they’ll vote for you. Downside: an army of regulators descending on the populace like a plague of flies.

Bloomturds nannies are running amuck. Wonder if they checked to see if the fireguys were using transfat or handing out 32 ounce soda’s. This is how liberals try and destroy any and all efforts to stop regular folks from helping and make the disadvantaged go directly to the goobermint for help.

Because the govenment wasn’t doing it? THis is patently absurd. I understand the need for restaurants to maintian certain helth standards, like washing hands, storing stuff appropropriately to prevent cross contamination, and requiring hot food to be hot and cold food cold, again to prevent the growth of germs and molds, etc. But seriously, I was told Sandy was an emergency. THat people were home less, had minimal or no food stores, no refrigeration and no cooking facilities. You would think less critical stuff like having an HVAC unit could slide. I mean they are cooking in a tent, so I would think they have all the ventilaion and ac anyone could ever need. And the congregating of warm bodies and the heat from cooking the food would make it warmer that outside the tent. As far as a fire extinguisher, wasn’t this the FIRE DEPARTMENT? I think they can be trusted to take care of any fires that MIGHT occur. If you have ever watched Kitchen Nightmares, you know there are plenty of restaurants that need these health department reviews every day of the year. Go hassle them, not the people stepping up to help!

Government bureaucratic harassment. Not worth trying to reason out the motives of these civil-zombies. They just do what they’re told by the statists who operate in the background.

Being firefighters, I’m sure there WAS an extinguisher, but it probably wasn’t mounted in a place or manner that was acceptable to the code.

I’ve always had to have an extinguisher in my booth at events, but I knew enough to have two, instead of just one, since my entire business is made of wood. But on occasion, a fire marshall insists that I have it mounted properly to something stationary. For ONE WEEKEND! Sorry, mister tree, I just had to put two drywall screws in your side.

We also used to have a sign, and need to make a new one now, that clearly states, in carved wood, right next to the extinguisher, “If we see smoke coming from your face, we will assume you are on fire, and take appropriate action.”

Yeah, I don’t take kindly to anyone coming inside my area with anything lit. The horses are terribly afraid of fire, you know.

The following statement, or variations thereof, is often attributed to Thomas Jefferson:

“A government big enough to give you everything you need, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have….”

We have never found such a statement in Jefferson’s writings. As far as we know, this statement actually originates with Gerald R. Ford, who said, “A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have,” in an address to a joint session of Congress on August 12, 1974.[1]

This quotation is sometimes followed by, “The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases,” which is most likely a misquotation of Jefferson’s comment, “The natural progress of things is for liberty to yeild, and government to gain ground.”[2]

The last thing big government types (and public employee bureaucrats) want to see is individual initiative in solving problems. The victims are supposed to wait patiently for the state to come to their rescue—even if it takes weeks or months.

Now, in my view the large red thing on the left side of the picture (with wheels, ladders, pump connections, and so on), would classify as a fire extinguisher. Wouldn’t it?
These Firefighters are heroes and Bloombutt should be thanking them and helping both the FF’s and the people in Queens instead of sending in the petty bureaucrats (Assholes!) to harass them. If the Health Dept is so concerned about the food handling conditions, why don’t they take over for the FFs? No answer required – just spouting off.

To be honest, the big red thing with wheels won’t count as a fire extinguisher, it won’t fit under the serving table.

That said, I don’t see how they can enforce restaurant regulations on someone that isn’t charging for food. There has to be something in the regs that covers this.

You’re right but progressives like Bloomberg don’t care about the law per se. It means what they want it to mean at any given moment.

lol, ok poppa, got me with the trifling technicality. Under the table? Hummmmm… 1) build a bigger table. 2) Place hose and nozzle under table. 3) get one of the ‘abc’ class extinguishers off of the ‘red thingy’ and place under table. The irony of it all, the health dept. calling out the fire dept., over an extinguisher. Roflmao, F&$king bureaucrats! Fine example of ‘Keystone Cops’. If you (bureaucrats, that is) can’t or won’t help,… then nit-pick the f&$k out of those that are helping! WTF
Kick’s right! Makes me glad I live on the right side of the left coast (Eastern WA), not that it will matter in the end. Anyway, thanks for the laugh.

FEMA still has THOUSANDS of people locked up in what some “residents” are calling prison camps. We are not hearing about this because FEMA will not let reporters in, and according to people inside, “police” are pulling their iPhones out of the wall, when they are trying to charge them. This has been going on for at least 3 weeks now. Last week, I googled it, and ALL reports about life for sandy vics stopped the previous week. Like BAM. Every story after that date was a fluff piece about individuals (often celebrities) and how they are “helping”. here’s one of the last stories: http://aftermathnews.wordpress.com/2012/11/12/sandy-victims-life-in-a-fema-camp-feels-like-prison/ You see that it’s 11/12. Nothing much after that point. So did things magically get better?

This is seriously disturbing. Lockdown. No contact with the outside world. No where to go. And it is our GOVERNMENT that is doing this to innocent people! It sounds like a third world country.

Now I hear that NY is talking about using an old abandoned PRISON to house these people. http://tinyurl.com/arx2vrc

Anyway, my guess is THIS is why the government is turning away citizen help. Because they don’t want any of their (ehem) “residents” talking to the outside world.

I think momma took care of that a long time ago! He does still live in her basement after all. That would make him the following:

From the “World English Dictionary”
castrato (kæˈstrɑːtəʊ) — n , pl -ti , -tos
(in 17th- and 18th-century opera) a male singer whose testicles were removed before puberty, allowing the retention of a soprano or alto voice

[C18: from Italian, from Latin castrātus castrated]

Government is so efficient that there are offices for the sole purpose of slowing things down so people have more time to not get help, eat, or sleep. #Sarcasm
