Angst and anger: Obama’s Libyan intervention send Huff Posters over the edge

by editor on March 21, 2011

It’s getting ugly for President Obama over at the Huffington Post. The lefties are torn between their irrational love for the god who walks among men and their complete disgust with his Libyan hypocrisy.

We, of course, gravitate toward the ones who finally see the light. So here are some of our favorite Huffington Post reader comments on Obama’s Libyan intervention.

(NOTE: We saved our favorites for the end, so read them all.)

If you are a parent, would you want your son or daughter going off to an oil war? Or would it be better for Americans to start conserving a rapidly-diminishing resource?

The President had a real opportunity to act diplomatically. He had an opportunity to speak with congress or address the nation to express the call to take up arms against another sovereign nation. I never imagined he would add to the endless wars, he had a real chance to veto the UN from firing missiles into a civil war. What a disappointment.

SarahCuda2
At least Bush had both chambers of Congress voting in clear majorities, including a majority of democrats, to AUTHORIZE attacking Iraq.

Did Obama ever ask for Congress to authorize this action?

doubtingdavid
So Obama gets to show he is in fact a war president by topping Bush by fighting three wars, two is not enough, and showing how much he deserved that Nobel for being such a humanitarian. It’s a twofer win for him

Tonight I listened to the president say we can’t stand by while Gaddafi kills his own. The hollowness in this proclamation made me think I was listening to the last president tell me we had to invade a country because the leader was such a bad guy. Nothing has changed in this country, its business as usual and we do stand by while people are slaughtered in nations without oil.

TheOuroborus

You know what else you said you couldn’t stand idly by? The plight of union workers.

Here’s one liberal’s message to a so-called Democrat President, “F… U… !”

Khmer Rouge was a rebel force at one point, too. I’ve yet to see some agreeable principle on which we support Libyan rebels.

Can’t sit idly by, eh? so does that mean we’ll be bombing Saudi-backed Bahrain’s forces to protect it’s people next? Yeah, didn’t think so.

I’m as PO’ed as they are. Here is the situation:
1. Islamists, some suspected Al Quida, and a known former terrorists are trying to annihilate each other. . . so why the hell would we want to stop them????

2. This is the forth time we’ve stepped in to save muslims. . . from muslims. The Kuwaitis were grateful. . . for a while. A Kosovo muslim murdered two of our airmen in Germany two weeks ago. Karzi want us out and is threatening to side with the Taliban, Sadr is still alive and well in Iraq and just waiting for us to leave.

3. We’ve now set a precedent for the UN to interfere directly in the strictly internal affairs of a sovereign nation. . . who many years until they decide to do the same in the US? Maybe to enforce an anti-gun treaty His “O”lliness would be oh so pleased to sign? Can’t happen here you say? How many societies have that as an epithet?

Contrary to what the liberals and neo-cons think, reality isn’t a Disney movie where the bad guys suddenly see the error of their ways when the good guys bail them out. We are wasting money we don’t have and risking blood we should hold precious above all else . . . for a public relations statement of absolutely no strategic interest to the US.

It’s always amusing to read the Left’s ranting about “sending children off to war”. None of them would dare sending themselves out on the streets to protect even their kids but are happy to send those darn patriotic racist out to protect the folks like Michael Moore.

JustAl,
you are so right.
After all Obummer has made sure Interpol is all set up in their nice new shiny office at the pentagon and given them immunity with a squad of road-mobile naked-body-scanners to play with as they see fit with-in our boarders. It will only be a matter of time before O-scumbag declares a state of emergency and anoints himself King of the new North American Union and starts handing out the new “Amero” dollar bills to all his cronies.
Then he will “invite” the U.N. to help control those nasty-union-busting-republicans and to quell the riots that are sure to follow with foreign troops who won’t hesitate to shoot american civilians.

He is just waiting for those darn radiation clouds to finish passing by D.C. before he wraps up his vacation, I mean his fact-finding mission.

Lets see. Muslims killing Muslims, as they have for thousands of years. Our role, as I see it, is covert action. Making sure both sides have plenty of ammo. I said the same thing 15 years ago or so when Iran and Iraq were at each other.
Happy to see even the nitwits at huff and puff are starting to see a two faced empty suit, which is pretty obvious to anyone who has not “huffed” or “puffed” in the past few hours.

I just wish these a**hats would see their own hypocricy in all this and go outside into their backyards, open up a can off worms, eat it, and die! You just know we’ll be sorry when they’re gone!

I like he idea that blood thirsty barry saw himself telling old moamar that he would kill his people for him, to help save mo’s good rep. We will not stand idly by while Libyans are being killed by their leader. We must assist him?

How the hell did the Republican house get blamed for this? Lord know, the COngress was never approached for a declaration of war before he sent troops in to bomb and shell the Libyans.
