Obama warns about return to disastrous past, ignores disastrous present

It “…is grounded in (the) same worn out philosophy: cut taxes for millionaires and billionaires; cut the rules for Wall Street and the special interests; and cut the middle class loose to fend for itself,” Obama said, adding, “That’s not a prescription for a better future. It’s an echo of a disastrous decade we can’t afford to relive.”

Funny that he should speak of things we can’t afford since he’s spent twenty months – which certainly seems like a disastrous decade – ensuring that we can’t afford a damn thing.

“Republican proposals showed they were the ones not listening to voters’ desires,” the President continued. “And for all their talk about reining in spending and getting our deficits under control, they want to borrow another $700 billion, and use it to give tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires.”

The speech left us wondering how the President got from the $250,000 threshold he’s proposed for higher taxes to “millionaires and billionaires”? And while we’re wondering things, we also wondered how passing legislation that over 60% of American voters oppose could possibly constitute “listening to voter’s desires.”
