Petraeus resigns as CIA director. We’re watching Fox News as we type. Per Fox, in his resignation letter, Petraeus admits to having an extramarital affair. We are now speculating why this is coming out at this particular time? Is Petraeus setting the stage to throw Obama under the bus over Benghazigate? Was he being blackmailed? Was he afraid this would come out at the hearings on Benghazi?

“Is Petraeus setting the stage to throw Obama under the bus over Benghazigate?”

And if so, why this particular scandal (read here, high crimes and misdemeanors) be any worse than the dozens before and since? This kleptocratic regime seems invulnerable to the laws of lesser men. I’m probably going to take a sabbatical from this and like sites, simply because Valeria Jerratovich wants vengeance on all of here enemies, foreign and domestic. Because she says it, The One dances to her magic flute and wants it too! People like us will soon be FCC fodder.

I mean this could be a way to discredit him IN CASE he wanted to come up with the TRUTH about SOMETHING (Benghazi maybe). This could be him falling on his sword for the administration (but why? they treating him like crap before… yet why work for the admin in the first place?) This is just weird…

KQ!! How nice to hear from you again. I thought you’d dropped off the edge of the planet. While I agree that he may, and I say MAY be trying to throw The One under the bus, he’s barking up the wrong tree. He needs to throw the VJ under the bus and make The One’s handlers find a new leash holder. I think BHO is dangerous but I think she’s more so. We’re not going to find anything out about this administration until our side gets some testosterone and starts indicting key people and doing more than holding them in contempt.

I have said this many times… I amnot a conspiracy theorist by trade, but this just STINKS to high heaven. There is something really wrong with this whole thing. I don’t appreciate Petraeus working for this administration I thought it was odd, but with Benghazi and everything OUT OF A SUDDEN he had an affair? SERIOUSLY?! So he has to resign? Did Clinton? I mean really? Just so weird…

KimmyQueen:”So he (Petraeus) has to resign? Did Clinton?”

I don’t think Clinton has much of a sense of shame. Obama may even have less of a sense of shame, which is saying something. If they had caught me doing what they caught Clinton doing, I would have resigned and walked out of the White House with a bag over my head. It was a different time, but at least Nixon had enough of a sense of honor to resign.

KimmyQueen November 9, 2012 at 1:47 pm

And Nixon didn’t use his position to sexually dominate an intern nor didn’t lie to the American public about a situation where four americans died, or failed to do what he had to do as commander in chief to possibly safeguard such lives. Nixon did wrong in what he allowed and what he tried to cover up, however, people didn’t die nor where there someone who is forever marked as “that woman”. Shame is a good thing and it is sad when good things are no longer done.

The general was one week away from testifying over the Benghazi issue. One could theorize that he was going to indeed shine some light on the what happened, and serve Hillary et al up on a silver platter. That couldn’t be allowed to happen. So, instead, I’ll bet a couple of phone calls were made, and the resignation was a fait accompli.

And, with the resignation he loses all of his security clearances. Essentially he’s a civilian now – can’t get the time of day let alone a hearing. Don’t discount the enforcible Non Disclosure Agreement to keep him mum.

Not only was Holly Petraeus known to Elizabeth Warren, but supposedly Warren bragged of their ‘friendship’ while campaign stumping and her website posted her picture as a supporter.

I wonder if this is something that happened a while ago and filed away to use when necessary. It bothered me when he took the position to begin with. Removing a keen mind from the theatre of battle is a sure way to lose.

Here is Petraeus’ resignation letter:

HEADQUARTERS Central Intelligence Agency

9 November 2012

Yesterday afternoon, I went to the White House and asked the President to be allowed, for personal reasons, to resign from my position as D/CIA. After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours. This afternoon, the President graciously accepted my resignation.

As I depart Langley, I want you to know that it has been the greatest of privileges to have served with you, the officers of our Nation’s Silent Service, a work force that is truly exceptional in every regard. Indeed, you did extraordinary work on a host of critical missions during my time as director, and I am deeply grateful to you for that.

Teddy Roosevelt once observed that life’s greatest gift is the opportunity to work hard at work worth doing. I will always treasure my opportunity to have done that with you and I will always regret the circumstances that brought that work with you to an end.

Thank you for your extraordinary service to our country, and best wishes for continued success in the important endeavors that lie ahead for our country and our Agency.

With admiration and appreciation,
David H. Petraeus

That letter doesn’t even make sense.

Number one, who cares if the CIA director has an affair? Nobody votes for this guy, nobody especially wants him to be a nice guy, we just want him to kill the bad guys and do good spying.

Number two, even if he feels obligated to resign, why is it the business of the whole CIA workforce that he cheated on his wife? Is he trying to humiliate her even more? Cripes. What an ungentlemanly cad.

This guy was a 4 star general, head of the CIA, I expect him to be a bad-ass and bed dozens of women a month, multiple women at a time even! I’m disappointed in him that it was only one woman. The jobs this guy has held his entire life involved finding the bad guys, making a plan to kill them, then killing them, and now I’m suppose to be shocked and disappointed that he had an affair, I don’t think so.

I have no idea what’s really going on here, but something big is coming I think, because this makes no sense at all.

If this is tied to Benghazi, it certainly frees him up to speak unencumbered. It may be that the administration used the affair to blackmail him into silence and that he turned the tables on them by announcing it himself. Would that be within his character? So we’ll need to see what unfolds in the days and weeks to come. Perhaps there was no affair at all and he’s simply using it as a pretext to resign so he can speak without any angst about loyalty to his chain of command.

Some stories don’t pass the smell test and this one sure doesn’t. No one resigns because of an extra-marital affair (i.e. Bill Clinton).

Patraeus, as head of the CIA, knew that the official Libyan story was false and he stated that none of the bogus “intelligence” came from his people. This created a need by the Administration to control or destroy Patraeus, so they tried to blackmail him with a threat to expose his extra-marital affair. But he pulled an end-run on Obama and his gang by admitting the affair and resigning.

Patraeus is now free to tell the truth. But he has to be careful, because the Obamaites (and their MSM allies) will try their damnest to blame everything on him. Watch for information damaging to Patraeus being leaked by the White House to the NY Times and MSNBC.

This, of course, is just my opinion

I’m fighting the sleep demons and bored, spent a whole 15 or 20 minutes scattering electrons hither & yon across the webz, no answers but some of it’s interesting.

His wife Holly is a daughter of Army General William A. Knowlton. They married two months after his graduation from West Point, Knowlton was superintendent of West Point at the time.

This goes to C02′s 2 cents: The book “All In” came out January 24, 2012. I don’t know jack about the research length or publishing process, but “Broadwell embedded (PUN) with the general, his headquarters staff, and his soldiers on the front lines of fighting and at the strategic command in Afghanistan…”. He was sworn in at CIA on September 6, 2011, some vetting, or did they just give in to lust a month ago?

And The homewrecker has quite the cv;
…where she was homecoming queen and valedictorian for the class of 1991.
~ graduated from West Point in 1995.
~ a master’s degree from the University of Denver’s School of
International Studies in 2006.
~ a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University.
~ served as Director of the Jebsen Center for Counter-Terrorism Studies
at Tufts University.
~ later entered the Ph.D. program at Department of War Studies at
King’s College London.
~ served in the United States Army and is a Major in the United States
Army Reserve.

Tol ya I was bored, wouldn’t surprise me if almost every one of you ignore it, but it fulfilled it’s intended purpose. It’s time to put the {_}3
