Here’s a pleasant surprise. A new Gallup poll shows that support for gun control has dropped to just 29%, the lowest level in history. But don’t hold your breath waiting to see it on the evening news.
The question was “Do you think there should or should not be a law that would ban possession of handguns, except by the police and other authorized persons?”
The surprise is how dramatically support for gun control has fallen. Advocates seemed to have their goal in their sights back in 1959 when 60% of Americans supported gun control. But it’s been almost straight down hill since then. Support now rests at just 29%.
Guns don’t kill gun control advocates. Polls do.

Of course we are delighted to hear the good news that 71% of Americans understand the Constitution and support the Second Amendment. But, your last line about polls killing gun control advocates is sadly not true. They just will not give up even in the face of facts and statistics proving the relative safety of guns vs. say pails of water (which are far more deadly). The fact that they still advocate on, is a testament to the restraint of gun owners – we just can’t shoot em and end their campaign.
On the up-side, the liberal rights limiters (aka gun control whiners) will never know how small their numbers are, their news media is not covering it!
