Professional journalists have been put on notice: Illegal immigrants are no longer to be called illegal immigrants. Because, we assume, accurate reporting has now taken a back seat to political correctness.
A group of young undocumented Democrats expresses its heartfelt gratitude for America's hospitality
The Culture & Media Institute reports:
The Society for Professional Journalists (SPJ)’s Diversity Committee has announced that it will be launching a year-long campaign to educate journalists about the hurtfulness of phrases like “illegal immigrant,” which is the term currently preferred by the influential AP Stylebook.
The label “remains offensive to Latinos, and especially Mexicans, and to the fundamentals of American jurisprudence,” wrote Leo E. Laurence, a member of the SPJ Diversity Committee and the editor the San Diego News Service.
Although the article doesn’t say what the new preferred term should be, we assume it will be “undocumented Democrat.”
Please note that we have never used the term “illegal immigrant” here at IHateTheMedia.com. We prefer the term “illegal alien” because the term “illegal immigrant” is too friggin’ wishy washy for us.
In related news, IHateTheMedia.com announced today that it has founded a new group called The Society for Unprofessional Journalists & Bloggers Who Work In Their Underwear. It will have no Diversity Committee, but it will meet every Friday afternoon to drink beer and make fun of the priggish political correctness of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Maybe the new term should be “Criminal” or perhaps 538 Billion dollars a year tax waste, of course for those who disregard our laws, our values because they believe the United States owes them something, simply call them “organ donors”
The illegal / criminal problem is not going to be fixed by politician who view them as future votes, how many people have to die at the hands of these criminals before the United States take the kiddie gloves off!

“how many people have to die at the hands of these criminals before the United States take the kiddie gloves off!”
I don’t know exactly, maybe a couple of million or so, especially since we have an immigrant-in-chief who is actively and quietly erasing the borders between our northern and southern neighbors…

Yeah, this is a tough one. What exactly do you call immigrants who are in this country illegally?? Hmmmm. Don’t tell me, don’t tell me… it’s right on the tip of my tongue.

A guy that I argue with on another site actually was complaining that the Tea Party platform said that illegal aliens were here in this country illegally. I asked him to explain how that statement was in error. Never heard from him again.

To Gigabyte,
(Professional journalists…lol….Is that anything like the oxymoron “military intelligence?”)
Oh how pedestrian, careful now–some of the smartest people I’ve met in my life were in the military and some of the dumbest people I’ve met in my life were in academia.

I use the term “illegal alien” so I guess I am being really offensive, and I don’t give a $#&*. Political correctness is akin to a disease in my estimation.

They are NOT immigrants, and calling them such gives them credibility they do not deserve. Words have meaning in our Orwellian Press. They are just shifting gears to arbitrarily add a new low of credibility for the un-credible.
They are in the country illegally, and they are outside of our country’s jurisdiction. Therefore, the ONLY shoe that fits is ‘illegal alien’. Sugarcoating it does not change the facts, no matter how ‘hurt’ they may be. They would *like* to be immigrants, to be sure, but they have to be acknowledged by our government in order to do so, and if they are acknowledged, then the government has to do something — deport them.
I get so damned sick of the linguistic fig leaves the american left is using to create and manipulate social evils THEY have created and are responsible for. To add insult to injury, they have the nerve to call people like us heartless, and blame us for the problem. Who looks the other way and lets them in? Who encourages them? Who reduces the negative consequences of breaking our laws so that more people do it? Who buys their illegal drugs? Who hires them as maids, gardeners, and babysitters? Who gives them job preference over out-of-work citizens? Not me.
If I’ve offended you with this, go back to your home country, break *their* laws, and see how *they* like it.

They shouldn’t have been using that term to begin with. Immigrant by definition means legally there-whereas ALIEN is more descriptive, and true to what these people are.
Reporters/journalists are all retards so it doesn’t really matter. But it does piss me off when they want to go lighter on the term that is already illegal alien-light!

The answers are simple…… Those in high levels of corporate business, the media, our councils, our government (ha) of power, have no morals or itegrity, and have been bought by the rich muslim countries to ease and grease the roads to the islamification of the modern world. Money, power and riches are offered in outrageous quantity, and they sell their f–king souls to islam. So we must act unless you want your children/grandchildren/great grandchildren to be forced into an ideaology formed thru a paedophilic, cave-dwelling lunatic.

I am offended by all people who come to this country illegally and then suck the resources from the hands of the citizens and then complain and moan about how they are being mistreated and how they are afraid of being sent back and how they are offended by one term over another. A mexican lady (who was born here, but mexico is her heritage) tells me that the correct term is migrant worker… What? Please… really? migrant worker is the correct term for an illegal person?
I am sick and tired of these people and the people that cuddle them.

Migrant worker is a term that has been used for many decades to describe workers, mostly farm workers, that follow the work from one area to another, since farming needs workers for specific jobs, then doesn’t need them again until next season. These workers are not necessarily non-citizens, they are just poor, hard-working people who migrate to the work. Hence the name. Illegal aliens are another group of people altogether. Is a person who came here illegally, and works for, say, Meg Whitman, for nearly a decade, in one location, a migrant worker? I would think not.

Exactly. The terminology is incorrect. She is under the assumption that all illegal aliens are migrant workers OR that they come here to work (wherever) and they are migrating from their country to here. It is all factually wrong, but being a liberal that is not surprising.
