Progressive talk station in Columbus folds, blames Obama. “…we were happy to in some small way contribute to the success that the Democrats enjoyed in November. Unfortunately, it was not a two-way street, and lack of advertising support from the Obama campaign… ensured that we will be unable to continue into the new year.”
“Justice prevails over transgression when she comes to the end of the race.” -Hesiod

I’m confused. The “progressive” (read Commie) station went off the air because the owners were losing money. So what? Don’t progressives (read Commies) rail about the evils of capitalism? The owners should just go on losing money like they think everyone else should. Jeez, liberal (read commies) hypocrites, who’d a thunk it?

I don’t suppose it ever occurred to them to sell ads to local businesses. A good progressive waits for money from The Obama.

In my experience, “progressive” run businesses tend to fold pretty quickly as they often feel entitled to your business. So customer service usually suffers. They also often avoid the most efficient suppliers for products they need because they might be supporting a conservative profit monger or member of the patriarchy.
The usual response to their failing business is to ask for handouts from the customers they do have.

I don’t understand, why didn’t they apply for stimulus funds before going bankrupt? That is the standard move for Obama pals.

They need to have begging sessions like PBS and get all the suckers to send in money. What? They will only send in money if it’s someone else’s? Oh.

why would the obeyme campaign spend money preaching to the choir? like the blacks and welfare queens, there was never any doubt who this station’s listeners were voting for.

The market palce rewards good ideas and punishes bad ones. Progressive WVKO was an abject failure—no audinece, no advertisers.

I’m finding it rather hard to feel sorry for WVKO’s staff, looks like another bunch of useful idiots have received their just reward.

When you have a substandard product that you are trying to sell, going out of business is normally the result.
Just think, the owners felt barry should ride in on his pale horse and save their shit radio station. From their announcement, barry must believe that capitalism works or that they (station owners) are no longer of any use to him.
Bye bye WVKO.

The statement in the link is hilarious. The advertisers stopped advertising and wouldn’t return calls to ask why. The programming must have been just awful. Even better, the author of the statement is truly dumbfounded as to why the station failed.
Best part is the drivel is being replaced by a gospel format. That is my kind of irony.

They just don’t understand how no one wants to hear what they say, or that people might find it offensive. They think everyone should think the way they do. And if people don’t then people are extremists and raaaacist.

So Air America with Franken and company (including Sergeant Schultz) was an epic failure, what did they expect? Nobody wants to listen to “all commie radio, all the time”…And Beside Planned Parenthood and maybe Ben and Jerri’s, I can’t think of anyone who would by commercial time on a small time progressive small town radio station.. Their Audience at it’s highest would have been maybe what? 30 listeners, and half of those were related to the people who worked there….Must have been “Communist Greed” that killed them…sorry I couldn’t resist…:)

Schultz was on many air America stations, but was & is outside of that organization. He’s with something called Jones Radio Network.

I can understand the frustration of the station manager, who watched the Obama campaign amass the largest amount of money ever spent on a Presidential campaign but didn’t favor WYKO with much of it. His farewell address sounds as bitter as a jilted girlfriend because he feels that way. But, a radio station so dependent on political advertising is likely to starve to death between elections unless it can attract other advertisers. What WYKO needed wasn’t Obama but blinds.com and Nature Bee, like Michael Medved, or Carbonite like Laura Ingraham. The operators of WYKO didn’t learn from the failure of Air America nor will they learn from their failure this time.

What WYKO needed was someone with a few operating brain cells in charge. CLearly no one of that ilk was available.

there is no room in the socialist state for competition. CNN will not permit its listener share to be reduced by even one if they can at all help it.

The competition in a socialist state is hidden rather than overt. Who gets the sugar, like the UAW, and who gets the shaft, like the Delphi pensioners and the GM shareholders, is decided behind closed doors.
