PUC set to OK free phones for homeless. Is the the California fast payoff for those homeless Democrat voters? More free phones? While we don’t begrudge someone who legitimately needs one, look at the photo below. Evidently at least one person cited in the article can afford to buy Red Stripe beer but can’t afford a cell phone to get phone calls from places she’s applied for work. What’s wrong with that picture?

um, maybe i’m missing something, but it looks like the beer carrier is not homeless. I don’t see the homeless lookin lady squattin beside alcohol.
She’s keeping clean and trying to be as presentable as possible.
I didn’t read the whole story bcuz i couldn’t get over these comments, which to me seemed rather harsh. but maybe i’m missing something.

Ah, now I know what those guys begging on the California freeway off ramps are using their money to buy. Based on observation, I’d put their proceeds at about $100/hr. I don’t call them bums. They’re savy street entrepreneurs selling moral self esteem to people who can’t be bothered to find and contribute to a real charity like the Marine’s “Toys for Tots” program.

I have known guys to offer them 100 cash for a hard 10 hours work, and get laughed at. He was told they make that before noon.
I have given food and NON ALCOHOLIC beverage to them, but never cash.

I haveoffered food and normal beverages,especially in the Texas heat. Its always refused. They get picked up here with several hundred dollars in their pockets after a very short stint on the side of the road. I personally refuse to even slow down for the ones wearing brand new Cowboys or Spurs jerseys, jackets, hats, or anything else that is too expensive for me to buy!

Maybe I’m missing something, but where are the homless going to charge these free phones? The welfare and subsidy bunch probaly have a HUD house with discounted electricity, but the last time I checked, those living in camps and alleys were hard pressed for wired outlets…
