No one cared that a lifelong Democrat didn't like interracial marriages until he became a Republican
Oops! When the media reported that Louisiana Justice of the Peace E. Keith Bardwell is a Republican, they left out one very important detail – he was a lifelong Democrat until switching his party affiliation in December, 2008.
That, of course, means that Bardwell was a registered Democrat when he declined to perform four previous interracial marriages.
In a remarkable coincidence, the media only jumped on the story when they could say a Republican was a raaaaaacist and ignored it when they would have been forced to say it was a Democrat who was a raaaaaacist.
Yet another reason we hate the media.

But, but… he’s a Republican! His having switched from the Democratic Party doesn’t change this. Perhaps it should have been reported, if someone were doing a fairly -in-depth examination of him. But in routine reports? He’s a Republican!
Why did he change parties? Latecomer to the Southern Strategy, perhaps? If someone reported his having been a lifelong Democrat, a racist who decided to become a Republican, would that have satisfied you? Really? I’m guessing you would have found equal fault with that: “Why, oh why is ‘the media’ reporting that the racist converted to the Republican Party, huh? huh? Is that really germane?”
It’s another reason I hate knee-jerk, ideological media-bashing.

Get real, this wouldn’t be a story if they knew he was a Democrat all the way up to 2008. IF,,,they had done their job, they might have come across this fact.
The Media is so biased, it might as well stay home. It’s not a story to them unless it is praising Obama or smearing conservatives. Shame. Look how they missed Jones, Anita Dunn, Acorn, etc. They are missing all the big stories of the day while eating at Obama’s table. Gag.

The “Southern Strategy” is a myth. Racist Democrats did not move en-masse to the Republican Party for Nixon.
They supported George Wallace’s American Independent Party.
